Location

This hotel enjoys a stunning location on the banks of the River Nile just a few minutes walk from one of the main shopping areas in the city. In addition, Cairo's sightseeing attractions are also within easy reach, the Egyptian Museum is around 500 m away and the Pyramids are some 10 km from the hotel.

Facility

The hotel welcomes guests in a 28-storey building with a lift and 735 rooms. Multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Amenities available at the hotel include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and cash machine. Wireless internet access in public areas (for a fee) allows guests to stay connected. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available.     They have the worst security ever , I tried to get the restaurant , surprisingly the security stopped me and my fiance to get our ID !!!!     I had an amazing stay at the InterContinental Hotel. From the moment I arrived, everything exceeded my expectations.     The staff were exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout my stay, especially Bishoy and Hussain, who provided outstanding support and assistance. The hotel was clean, tidy, and well organized, creating a very comfortable atmosphere. The beautiful view of the Nile was truly a highlight of the experience.Thank you for the wonderful stay.     My friend and I the InterContinental because we were attending a wedding there. If you are used to staying at Intercontinental, please do not expect the same standard of service. The service is seriously lacking on almost all points. I actually reached out to the hotel immediately on our fist night because the experience was so bad that we were considering leaving. The guest relations manager spoke with me, sincerely apologize, said she would speak with her team and then follow up with me. There was no follow up, whatsoever. We styaed three nights and there was no follow up. It was an uncharacteristically bad experience.These are just some issues occurred during my stay:Upon arrival at the pedestrian entrance, my friend and I were left to carry our own luggage unassisted, despite being observed by hotel staff. No one helped until we got to the bell hop stand. A STAFF MEMBER ENTERED MY ROOM!Within approximately five minutes of checking into my room, the Housekeeping Supervisor entered without knocking and without announcement. Needless to say, this made mem uncomfortable. And then when I left the room shortly after he walked in my room, he was uncomfortable a the end of the hall, asking if he could do anything to help me. This was extremely uncomfortable. I called and reported this and the Manager responded promptly. They sent a plate cookies and unripened fruit as and acknowledgement which seemed to somehow make it even worse..3. Restaurant serviceI brought a very nice bottle of champagne to enjoy. When we aske for glasses it took 15 minutes or more to bring them. And as we were charge a corkage he, the server refilled our glasses once and didn't come back to our table for quite some time.4. Bar serviceWe ordered ordered cocktails at the rooftop bar at a price point exceeding $20 per drink. The bartender was visibly unfamiliar with the drink reciepes , referencing the menu for ingredients. The Sidecar was predominantly lemon juice — it was not a properly executed cocktail. My own order, a Mediterranean Breeze listed as a signature drink, could not be prepared. I settled for a plain gin and tonic. Even that was made poorlyI understand that alcohol is not central to Cairo's culture. However, if your property operates a premium cocktail bar, guests have a right to expect that staff can execute the listed menu. Then our bar bill included a charge for a DJ that was not there. 6) The next morning at the breakfast we paid for in advance, the tea was luke warm and we could not get the attention of the staff when we needed anything. I ordered an egg dish that came out 20 minutes later, cold, as if it had been forgotten. 7) Another time we ordered wine at the "wine bar" and it was a bottle that was clearly oxidized and had been open for quite some time. When i mentioned the wine was bad, I was met with blank stares.The brief exception was the staff at the pool, particularly Ahmad S. He was sweet, kind and very attentive every time we interacted with him.had i not been attending my best friends wedding, we would have checked out immediately the next morning. Its even more disappointing that we brought most of this to the attention of management and little was done outside of a cookie/fruit plate and a comped lunch by the pool.This was by far the most disappointing experience, it actually put a damper on our trip. The IHG brand is know for service and quality all over the world. This should not have been the exception . You can stay at a nicer hotel with exemplary service for the same price down the street.
