    Excellent value, location and service

Meramees HostelJanuary 2025. First time to Egypt and Cairo. I arrived at midnight after being met outside the airport arrivals hall by a driver the hostel had pre-arranged. Manga at the front desk got me checked in, showed me to my room and worked with me on connecting to the good and fast wifi. Then he kindly brought me fresh, hot coffee with milk. So needed after 20 hours of various flights and transfers. He proceeded to bring me a coffee every morning of a six night stay as I am an early riser and always got up before the conclusion of his overnight shift.I booked a double (twin) en-suite room at this hostel. The location is easy walking distance of Tahrir Square and Sadat Metro stop. The ensuite bath had a stand up shower with plenty of good pressure hot water. Sheets and towels provided. The beds were comfortable for both of us. In January the thick duvet was perfect for the cool nights. There was an armoire with hanging space, shelves and two spare blankets. This room also had a small fridge. I have already booked Meramees Hostel again for when I return to Cairo in a couple weeks.Food and drinks:Probably the best hostel breakfast in Cairo. Huge portion of Pita, ful, fresh tomato, cucumber and carrot, wrapped cheese portions, egg and hot coffee. Will keep you going. I filled the pita pockets I couldn’t finish with the leftover bits for later.

Welcoming hostel in the perfect location for Cairo tourism!

We stayed at the sister hostel’Miami Cairo’. The location was excellent, the bed comfortable and the breakfast very good (falafel sandwiches and Egyptian tea)! Our host Abdullah could not have been more friendly or helpful, from organising day trips and giving us tips about how to explore the city, to making us feel welcome and catering to our every expectation when it came to hostel services. If we return to Cairo, we will definitely book this place again! Thanks again Abdullah, D &J

    Great customer service!

Miego, the person in charge, was the best part of the whole experience at this hotel. The room was clean and lovely. I was in a private room with a private bathroom, but the shower never worked. My room happened to be next to the "public" showers and those showers were great, so i just used those with no issue. They did accommodate me very well regarding said bathroom but slightly inconvenient since i was showering twice a day due to the temperature (109F/42C).

Great help, good location, and knowledgable staff

    rating28 Nov 2021

Excellent help by staff with setting up tours for more reasonable price and flexibility over online tours. When we arrived we talked over a potential itinerary with the staff and got excellent information on what was feasible. We ended up doing the great pyramids, Egyptian Museum, and the Nile River Cruise in the same day. Also, thank you Nasr for such great work as a tour guide for that day. Fun, informative, and customer focused. He was able to give us a lot of context about artifacts in the museum and pyramids that we would have missed of we just had a driver. We also appreciated him stepping in to help us negotiate excellent prices on activities and souvenirs. Sometimes better than online forums had led me to believe possible.

    Great service & location

Our experience with Meramees hostel was a pleasant one. I visited Cairo with my parents therefore we wanted to feel safe and to be taken care of, considering that Cairo is such a big, crowded city. The staff made sure that we had everything we needed, helped us with information, with airport transportation and some trips outside of Cairo. 10/10 for the staff! We didn't feel pressured to book trips with them, we even had a couple of days during which we made our own schedule. The trips organized by them where good, informative and friendly. We thank Talek, the tour guide we had in Alexandria, and of course many thanks to Talaat, the driver who took us in all our trips and from/to the airport.Regarding the accomodation the rooms where fine, clean with decent AC and WiFi (considering that we were here in July we wouldn't have made it without an AC). We even had our rooms cleaned (bed sheets, towels, everything), but you just need to ask at the reception for this. Breakfast was really good and big! :) I personally don't mind the building, there is someone downstairs near the elevator always keeping an eye on the building so I didn't feel unsafe or something like that. Yes, it is an old building, but all the buildings from downtown are the same so don't expect a new block of flats. The most amazing part is that you only have to walk 10 minutes to reach the Egyptian Museum and Tahrir Square.Hopefully you'll enjoy your stay as much as we did!
