Great 3 star hotel
11 Apr 2026
We normally book 4/5 star hotel so we booked this hotel due to good reviews and a reasonable price.Check-in went smoothly and the staff were.We were on the third floor and the stairs can be steep but there is a lift a very tiny one.We booked breakfast and offered gluten free. We walked everywhere. We also booked a late checkout as we did a parkrun before we did a last tour of Rome and it was great to check out at 3.The room was small but very clean and there was no trouble heating. Highly recommend the hotel

Good location, nice hotel.

We enjoyed our stay! Beds were comfy and the room and bathroom were very clean. Breakfast was also good with lots of meats, cheese, yogurt, pastries, eggs, hot drinks, cold drinks, cereal, etc. Could hear noise outside and when people were walking around the hotel, but were able to sleep through it! About a 20 min walk from the coloseum and an hour walk from vatican city so pretty close to what you would want to see

Excellent experience
22 Dec 2025
I was very happy with my week-long stay. The staff were great: friendly and helpful in every way. The location was convenient and within walking distance of visitor attractions, restaurants, shops, and the train station. The excellent breakfasts had variety and were well-prepared. The room was clean and comfortable and perfectly adequate for all my needs. I particularly enjoyed the roof terrace. Many thanks to Hotel Amalfi, especially the staff, for helping make my trip to Rome so satisfying.

Stay in Rome
20 Dec 2025
Great location for this hotel in a good area for you to see all of Romes major attractions. But as far as the building, it is tiny. The rooms are crammed together and the showers are almost inaccessible. Clean building with nice art on the ceilings but I highly recommend saving money to stay somewhere with more space. Maybe I’d recommend for a solo traveler, not for a family stay. The breakfast wasn’t great and there is no food offered beyond that.
Francesco Nigro, General Manager at Hotel Amalfi, responded to this review
Dear Danny C,thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We truly appreciate your comments about our central location, cleanliness, and the artistic value of the building, which are core elements of the experience we aim to offer. We would like to take this opportunity to provide some context about the nature of our hotel. Our property is one of the most historic hotels in Rome, located directly opposite the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore and set within a former Roman palace. The ancient frescoes preserved on the ceilings and walls are original and protected, making the building itself part of the city’s cultural heritage. Staying with us means staying inside a living piece of Roman history. For this reason, our hotel is not a modern structure designed with large, open-plan rooms or expansive bathrooms. Like many historic Roman buildings, spaces are more intimate, and architectural constraints are part of preserving authenticity and identity. The elevator, for example, was added long after the original construction and is necessarily compact, as is common in historic Roman palazzi. It is also important to clarify that we offer several different room types, designed to suit different travelers and expectations. We have single rooms, ideal for solo travelers; double rooms for two guests; triple rooms, which can be arranged with one double bed and one single bed or with three single beds, often distributed across two connected spaces; and family rooms composed of one double bed and one double sofa bed.In addition, we offer our King Suite, a completely different experience: a 90-square-meter suite composed of three separate rooms, two bathrooms, and a kitchen, with a magnificent panoramic view of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. This suite features more generous spaces and a more modern layout and is designed for guests seeking maximum comfort, naturally with a higher budget. All our other rooms, on the other hand, are true pieces of Roman history, enriched by original frescoes and architectural details that cannot be replicated in modern buildings. We would also like to address your comments regarding breakfast. As with the rest of the hotel, our breakfast philosophy is not based on large, cruise-style buffets or excessive quantities. Instead, we focus on quality, freshness, and authenticity. Every morning, a dedicated in-house chef prepares freshly cooked hot dishes and carefully selected Italian products. This approach is highly appreciated by many of our guests, who often consider breakfast one of the best moments of their stay.To mention just a few examples, we proudly serve award-winning traditional pastries from Sezze, extra virgin olive oil from our own production, scrambled eggs prepared from free-range eggs (not from liquid egg products, as is common in many hotels), fresh and aged cured meats from the Lazio region, as well as bacon, fried eggs, and many other dishes prepared daily by our kitchen. We would also like to clarify an important point regarding parking. Although the hotel does not have a private parking facility, it is actually very convenient for guests arriving by car for several reasons.First, we are located right at the edge of the Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL), which means it is possible to arrive directly in front of the hotel without risking fines, leave the car, and then continue comfortably on foot. Just beyond our location begins the ZTL area, where access is not permitted, even with rental cars.Second, within a few steps from the hotel there are three private garages that we can reserve for our guests, with rates generally ranging from 20 to 40 euros per night, depending on location.Third, on our street it is still possible to park either free of charge on the white lines or on the blue paid parking spaces. Finally, being only about a 10-minute walk from Rome Termini Station, where most car-rental hubs are located, our position is particularly convenient for both picking up and returning rental cars.We fully understand that travelers seeking very large rooms, expansive bathrooms, and extensive food services may feel more comfortable in newly built hotels or large international chains. Our hotel is instead designed for guests who value history, charm, centrality, and the unique experience of staying in a historic Roman building in the very heart of the Eternal City.Thank you again for your feedback and for giving us the opportunity to better explain our philosophy. We hope to welcome you again in the future, perhaps in a room category that better matches your expectations.Kind regards,Hotel AmalfiFrancesco

A pleasure to have stayed here
05 Dec 2025
Booked online with no issues for a 3 night stay. Able to select street room with great view.Short walk from Termini rail station and bus drop off points. Great walking routes to all the best attractions that Rome can offer. Good area for foods of all types. Close the windows and very little city noise disturbs the sleep, also in december able to control heating and ventilation. Breakfasts to suit most tastes at self service buffet, though a chef standing by for any special requirements. Lovely clean hotel and rooms with fresco type wall and ceiling paintings to make you feel you're in a roman room rather than any faceless brand hotel that could be in any city in the world. Would I come back? Too right I will...looking forward to wedding anniversary december 2026Shaun Conroy
