  Decent hotel, located close to the river with quite clean but small room, bathroom and shower. The hotel policies are absurd, with very limited reception hours and major access issues and fine if you eventually lose your keys. Management needs to modernize their rules.However, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my stay.   Very disappointed with the room

  We stayed at Hotelli Kultahippu in Ivalo from 21–28 February 2026 and booked a double room with an extra bed.We were allocated Room 203. According to the hotel description, the room size is 16 m². However, once the extra bed was installed, the available space became extremely limited. There was only about 10–15 cm between the extra bed and the wardrobe, making it very difficult to stand up, move around the room, or access the wardrobe. In practical terms, the room layout did not appear suitable for three adult guests.Shortly after arrival we raised the issue at reception and were told that this was the only room large enough for an extra bed and that rooms on the opposite side of the corridor were smaller. Later during our stay we met guests staying on that side and saw rooms that appeared significantly larger and comfortably arranged with two beds and an additional bed. This made the explanation we had received quite confusing.The extra bed also had no proper additional mattress and was uncomfortable to sleep on.Despite the room situation, we would like to mention that the restaurant staff were very kind and professional, and the surrounding area is beautiful. Lapland is truly a wonderful destination.However, considering the price of €1624 for the week, we expected a room arrangement that realistically accommodates three adults and clearer communication regarding room suitability. We have a total of 20 standard rooms, but only 6 of them can accommodate one extra bed. Room #203 is one of these, and all 6 of these rooms are the same size.All standard rooms located opposite the corridor are smaller than room #203 and the other five similar rooms. Opposite the corridor, there is one larger room, #206, which is a standard room with a private sauna. The larger room you saw is therefore not the same room type that you booked.Unfortunately, it was not possible to offer you a larger room within the standard room category, as there are no larger standard rooms than #203. We were also unable to offer you a room with a private sauna, as room #206 was fully booked for all nights from 21–28 February 2026.Wishing you a lovely Spring!

  Wonderful Syria snowshoe tour

  I had a Aurora snowshoeing tour with Tommy and it was great! Thanks to him I was able to see the Aurora.   This is a great hotel. Very convenient located. Absolutely friendly staff. Generous space. Very good breakfast. All what one needs to hunt the northern lights.   Great experience, in-room sauna a plus!

  The room was very nice and located on the river. The river was frozen but a delight nonetheless. We walked into Ivalo for a burger and explored the city a bit. We enjoyed the in-room sauna. The front desk arrange for our transfer to the airport. We enjoyed the breakfast spread before departing. The front desk was gracious to loan power converters to us before our journey home. A great experience.
