    Very average

Pretty average sort of a place. A bit more like a summer camp hostel then a hotel. Individual rooms that are so outdated and not very comfortable. Breakfast was ok. BUt I would not stay again. We would have geven stars if not...

We would have given 5 stars if the hotel would not have allowed, even after complaints, to let the French groups invade the hotel lobby bar and hold extremely loud pub quizzes there every night that drove other guests away. We're delighted to hear that you had an overall good stay and sincerely apologize for the disturbance from noise in the lobby bar. Really quite poor

    rating27 Dec 2025

Firstly, this hotels location is PERFECT, It could be and I’m sure one day will be an amazing hotel! However for it it wasn’t just lacking but the staff member I encountered was simply rude. (Not all!!!)It was Christmas week and the temperatures were warm I will admit! But our room was cold, we were in Lapland it was -13 and our radiators were cold to touch (the hot strip at the top was trying to heat through but it obviously needed bleeding)Maintaince came and said they didn’t know why but it wasn’t working. They gave us a portable heater and extra blankets,The heating didn’t come on once while we were there for 5 days. She said they had the same thing in the room last week…. But still was adamant it was correct despite other rooms around us having heating. We asked other people believe me!!The room was basic/had no soundproofing - the curtains were so thin they let in light and each morning at 3.50 the snowplough appeared and shone in our window! The lights were always on outside the windows so the room was never dark. What I will say…. Is we were top floor end of corridor, I cannot imagine the noise level anywhere else it must have been so much worse!!It has a huge amount of potential, but you really should stop selling yourself as a 4* hotel!!! That you are definately not!! Lapland Hotels Riekonlinna, Guest Services / Front Office at Lapland Hotel Riekonlinna, responded to this review Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We are trully sorry that your stay with us did not go well and the service and your room did not meet your expectations. This is not the standard we aim to provide. We will forward your comments to the responsible people in order to amiliorate our services in the future. Our hotel is indeed outdated and we are planning for a renovation for the whole hotel. We hope that you enjoyed our beautiful snowy Saariselkä and we hope for you a great end of the year. Best regards, Niko lapland Hotels Riekonlinna.

Great stay we could not fault it.

    rating19 Dec 2025

We travelled as a family of six for adults two children. We had researched this and booked away over a year ago..Having read a few mixed reviews lately, we weren’t quite sure what to expect but we need not of worried.Firstly, the staff every member of staff that we came across wished us good morning with a smile and a very pleasant especially the reception staff in the barman who were remembering our drinks. The food we felt was extremely good, but we all are quite open about what we eat but everything seemed very fresh and my grandchildren absolutely loved the desserts, especially the chocolate mousse. The rooms yes they are a tiny bit tired but they do everything you need and it was very authentic for us. The drying room was an absolute bonus and was perfect after coming back with wet children. We could dry their clothes off..The view from our room was tremendous. We even said the best photograph we took we’re from the view from our room on our balcony..For us, it was definitely a traditional type of hotel and we really really liked it and if I was in that area again, which hopefully I will be I would definitely stay there. I think we all would agree on that as a family..The toboggan slopes for the children are really close and the scenery is breathtaking Lapland Hotels Riekonlinna, Guest Services / Front Office at Lapland Hotel Riekonlinna, responded to this review Thank you for your review.
