    The Wedding weekend

    rating13 Jun 2026

We booked a suite at the top of Kaunispää for our wedding weekend. There is a very beautiful landscape opening up to the Lapland wilderness from the living room windows. The hotel staff were amazing and kind, and made us feel special at our wedding dinner. Special thanks to the chef who baked our wedding cake according to our wishes.

Aurora in the room! What an experience

    rating26 Apr 2026

I am glad that we stayed at this property for 5 nights. Out of the 5 nights we were there, we caught huge aurora sighting for one night and small aurora sightings for 2 nights. We came by our own rental car, and the property offered free parking. Check in was quick and efficient. The property had on site activities like the Huskies, Snowmobiles, Kids Snowmobiles, the Reindeers and Sauna. We were allocated room 24, which required a little bit of walking. We broke our luggage the last time we had to pull our luggage on the melted snow and gravel at our last accommodation, and we were relieved that the property had a luggage cart for us to borrow. But still, it required a lot of efforts to push the cart to our room. We booked ourselves a family aurora cabin which came with a king-sized bed and a sofa bed. We felt the room was adequate for the four of us. The bathroom was OK with the basic amenities you need, although we felt the position of the toilet a little weird. The bed was pretty comfortable, but the sofa bed unfortunately was not great. The portable heater in the room was also a nice amenity provided in the room. The variety offered in breakfast was pretty good, although you may have nearly exact options every day. I personally enjoyed the buffet dinner more. The menu changed every day and we tasted different types of Finnish food. The Reindeer meat was tasty! We did Snowmobiles for 4 hours, Cross-country skiing, Aurora on Sleigh as well as the Sauna experience. We enjoyed all of them. However, if I have to be honest, it would have been nice if the property would cancel the Aurora on Sleigh as the weather was not good on the day.We were so lucky to have had the chance to see the aurora from our room. This was definitely once in a lifetime, what an epic experience.

Five stars are not enough to describe this incredible safari experience!

    rating16 Apr 2026

The 5 km husky safari was absolutely amazing for our whole family. Kids loved it. The dogs were very friendly and well-behaved, and it was a special highlight that we could greet and spend time with each of them after the safari. The staff was highly professional, knowledgeable, and truly passionate about what they do – it made the entire experience even more enjoyable and safe.A special thank you to Katja for making this unforgettable!Highly recommended

    Delightful, magical, and memorable

    rating31 Mar 2026

Had the pleasure of staying in the Polar Sky Suite for four nights. The whole experience was superb - airport pick up, the high quality breakfast and dinner buffets, and the optional excursions (we did the husky sledding, reindeer ride, Russian border Northern Lights tour, and Lakeside Northern Lights tour). While the tours might seem at first sight a little expensive, you can’t underestimate their convenience. They begin from the “Safari House” two minutes’ walk away from the reception and restaurant. And as for the tours themselves, the guides were passionate, and the huskies and reindeer seemed to be well looked-after. The reindeer tour concluded with a half hour chat by the fireside where the local guide shared with us how reindeers are so much part of local life. Lights aside (which we saw faintly at the Russian border and then much better on the Lake tour), the husky ride was our highlight. As for the Polar Sky Suite, be warned that while it’s gorgeous, modern, and beautifully furnished (including an ensuite sauna and Japanese style toilet - IYKYK), it’s a 10 minute shuttle bus ride to and from the restaurant/Safari House. This means a little discipline is required to catch the shuttle which departs every 30 minutes. Also, the slope up to the suites can also get quite slippery especially with heavy luggage. Tip 1: if travelling with elderly parents, you may prefer one of the cabins on the main site. Tip 2: that said, five minutes walk away from the PSS’s is the summit of Saariselkä and another hotel where you can grab a cocktail and enjoy the spectacular view. Tip 3: there’s a very decent supermarket 10 minutes walk away from NLV, across the main road and accessible by an underpass.Would I recommend NLV? Absolutely!

    Fabulous hotel to explore Lapland

    rating28 Mar 2026

This hotel is really great! 4 of us shared a room, which is snug but totally do-able. Did a sauna/cold plunge experience, cross country skiing and of course lucky enough to see the auroras! All the lights go off at night so it is an excellent viewing spot. Huge buffet meals and the staff were very nice. A quick walk into town.
