Good value accommodation in lovely seaside town

    rating09 Jul 2025

Basic but functional accommodation. Very near town and only 10 mins from Grande Plage. bonus is the proximity to public transport -very near No.3 bus stop from Biarritz airport. Possible bed bugs-not sure but my kids and I came home with some bites in a line around our necks.

TOO EXPENSIVE AND TOO FAR FROM THE BEACH

    rating27 Aug 2018

Eventhouh the property is located across a nice parc, it is still very far from the beach, and on a hill, so if you are alone and have to bring your groceries or are tired after a long day, it is to avoid. Moreover, the price for one person is not worth it. If you are a Solo, just rent near the beach for the same price in Saint Jean de luz, there are a lot of rentals. You need to be aware that beds ar not made at your arrival, and especially the sofa bed that you have to open yourself and make the bed, so if you arrive late and you are tired, or if you have a back pain, better ask them to make the bed, but it will cost you 8 euros to make one bed! A lot of things are missing in this residence: not having the possibility to buy mineral water is a shame. If you like TV, you must be advised that the TV is very very small and when you are sitting on the sofa or in the bed, you can't see without long distance glasses! Also, if you like to read at night, the light are very low and you can't read easily. This property is for families, but there is ONLY ONE ELEVATOR FOR FOUR FLOORS, and the elevator may stop, so be careful to not go all together with heavy suitcases! I recommend to avoid taking the elevator on the weekend and the evenings...! Staff is nice but does not offer the services of a hotel. You will be on your own like in a rental apartment and have to pay for certain services or will not not get them at all!

Oh Dear, It Needs Some Attention --- Soon

    rating27 Jun 2017

Pierre et vacance is now the third big company to own this conveniently situated holiday apartment property. But unless time and money is spent on the property pretty soon, I fear it may become Pierre et Vacant. It had a decent makeover in 2010, but since then it's getting to show it's age. The air conditioning did not work in our apartment, but it took over a week to change to another. Cleanliness is another issue as is the broken garage door. Cobwebs on the ceiling, mould on the ceiling and dog hairs ( in both apartments ) does not, in my opinion, reflect the £700 per week price in June. On the positive side, problems were solved by a very helpful manageress.. .

A great base for Basque Country exploration

    rating20 Apr 2017

We wanted to self - cater, with a bit of room to relax, and after much online research commencing with San Sebastian, then Hendaye, we settled for P&V thinking it sounded excellent value (which it was), albeit maybe 'a bit out of the action'. (It wasn't).While ideally situated, with beautiful views for those travelling by car (rather than arriving by TGV from Paris, via Bordeaux as we were), on exiting the station and orientating ourselves we saw that while the case trundle would only be about 1.5km, normally a bit of a doddle, it was pretty much up hill from halfway so we opted for a taxi, Euro 13 for the 2 of us plus cases and back packs. Good decision! From then on though, we walked everywhere (including downhill, back to the station with luggage) which was fine. Our room was large, the resort was a huge gated community next to a very popular golf course with obviously a lot of private apartment ownership, and everything looked nicely cared for. The facilities were very good, and the only downer (for me, not so much my wife) was that the acoustics in our ground floor room bothered me at night. I spent hours one night listening to later arrivals in the unit above moving chairs, opening and closing cupboards etc etc. We have found a similar issue in some of our other recent Euro stays, but this was most pronounced. But once they settled above, I did too and the bed was very comfortable. We had almost no interaction with the staff after officially checking in the morning after our mid afternoon arrival (we had pre-paid), where we were lucky that a groundsman wandered by as we were attempting to get a code to open the locked box in which we hoped our door key and any instructions would be. (They were). He took over the phone call to sort it for us. Plain sailing from then on, but it would have been nice to have received an email with advice that Reception would be closed, and providing the code, beforehand. We loved the St Jean de Luz - Ciboure conurbation, and transport via bus and Topo (the local urban train system operating from Hendaye) to San Sebastian and where ever, was easy. A full day in S Sb was enough, and our only disappointment was that we couldn't bus and rack rail it up the impressive la Rhune (end of the Pyrenees, where we have previously walked extensively) due to reduced transport just pre - Easter. For us, we thought that C - St J de L was the prettiest of locations, and it all worked well for us :-)
