Great staff spirit at one of the messiest places visited in a long time

    rating06 Apr 2026

Any rating given should always be in relation to the rate paid. We managed to access a Marriott online offer at EUR 133.00 per night. That is still more than AC hotels in Italy but certainly less than other hotels in France in allegedly "fancy" locations. For that price, we got a nice room on the third floor with pool view, free underground parking, breakfast given the Marriott status, a welcome drink and water on our room. I take, given it was the Easter weekend, that was a good offer. I would also want to point out that I have never seen staff work so hard, day in and out, in all areas of the hotel, as at this AC in France. Some literally are everywhere, at the pool, at the bar, at the breakfast. That is great spirit - no doubt! On the other hand, there are too many things that are just simple no-go items. First and foremost, I would be very upset and somehwere in the one or two bubble rating would I pay the high season price of up to EUR 500 per night. That would be reason to be outraged. So what goes wrong: breakfast: not enough dishes, replenishing does not work, warm dishes cold, coffee machines break down and cleanliness is an issue. Cups, glasses and plates are not as clean as you want - had to put back orange juice glasses with sticky stuff on it and a plate at the buffet had stains of chocolate on it. Cleanliness: someone spilled coffee in the elevator. It takes a day for their cleaning crew to get this cleaned. That entire cleanliness topic diserves way more attention. Tables are cleaned with the same cloth they clean seats - not really the way to go. Housekeeping: uses your coathanger to, on the floor, keep the doors latched open between the door and door stopper. That is the hanger you use to put your shirts on. Dirty! Attention to detail. Seems to be somewhat overvalued. We stay in early April in the elevator, they still had the earth hour paper that on top of it being almost two weeks old, read different dates in Englisch and in French - do they not check their own work? Or get checked by a supervisor? Picture attached. Then, they have a security force on site. I thought at first that is because of outsiders coming in. Wrong. That is to keep their own guests behaving well. That is probably the hotel's biggest problem: they appear to attract large families with very loud misbehaving kinds and even louder parents. Scene at the indoor pool. Two juveniles have fun. No one else fan swim. One of the boys nearly jumped on an adult's back spine while he was swimming. Then security came along (by coincidence). Scene at the pool: two hours of yealling and screaming with kids so that all other adult guests left. Parents: one on the speaker phone screaming louder than all the kids together and the other one having a smoke by the pool. And then, as if that wasn't enough, we noticed that hotel staff socially/friendly interacts with those parties. Instead of telling them how to behave in a public space so that other guests get to enjoy as well. Or is that their new target clients? I do not know. Maybe they do. In any case, unless you enjoy all hell breaking lose by the pool, this is NOT your hotel. Also, left me breathless, they have a downstairs office that you pass by when going to the gym. The office is called the "Assistant Restauration Cost Control" - what on earth are they thinking to display such a thing in public. So in essence, the DNA root cause of all of the above is probably some kind of cost saving spreadsheet initiaitve run by an Excel guy in the basememt. PIcture attached as nobody would believe this just by me stating. To cut a long story short: very dedicated hard-working staff. Very friendly too. From that angle, could not get better. On the downside: a mess inside out. My advice: if you want to go there, make sure you pay no more than EUR 150 per night. Anything else will likely dissappoint you beyond belief. I would also not be surprised if they go out of business soon. There appears to be zero strategy and leadership. Other than the spreadsheet guy in the basement who makes sure cost saving is the opendly disclosed priority to the paying guests by putting a sign out. Unbelieveable. I give it four bubbles because, despite all that I mentioned, EUR 133 is a low rate. And that should be reflected in the review.

Pleasantly surprised – ignore the skeptics!

    rating31 Mar 2026

I must admit, I arrived with a bit of caution after reading some mixed reviews on TripAdvisor. However, I was very pleasantly surprised to find that my experience was quite different from what I had imagined.Check-in was handled quickly and professionally by the receptionist. As a solo traveller, I found my room to be perfectly sufficient; while not massive, it was impeccably clean and incredibly tidy. The bedding was high quality, and the shower worked perfectly. The biggest highlight was the breakfast. Despite previous criticisms I’d read, I found the selection extensive and the food very tasty. Overall, I can’t fault this hotel. It is a well-priced, comfortable place to stay. A big thank you to the reception and concierge teams for making me feel so welcome!
