Location

Facility

    Beware the Night Guard

    I’ve stayed at this hotel several times. It has recently been renovated and continues to be a be a lovely, peaceful refuge. The hotel is not walking distance to anything, so plan on either renting a car or scheduling transportation. Uber is available but unreliable, especially during Cannes Film Festival. It has recently been sold to Marriott, but it seems like the transition is a bit bumpy, hopefully they will work out the kinks with the reservation system. Make sure you call the hotel to confirm your reservation is in the system, several colleagues had issues with their reservations, but the hotel staff are wonderful and got it all sorted. The restaurant is great and breakfast is especially good - don’t sleep on the juices. The reason I am only giving 4 stars and am writing this review is because of the EXTREME rudeness of the night guard. Our party of business travelers had 11 people. One evening after dinner, we gathered in the lobby for a business meeting. It was late, probably close to midnight. The night guard turned the lights off in the area we were sitting. There were other guests sitting in the same area, it wasn’t just us. We continued to meet IN THE DARK as we had to wrap up before some team members left the next morning. Then, one of us was looking for a garbage can and stepped behind the bar to throw something away. Out of nowhere, the night guard runs over to the bar and starts screaming at her in French. As a non-French speaker she was stunned and froze because it was actually scary and threatening, especially because she didn’t understand what he was saying. Luckily, a French speaker stepped in to help, turns out he was upset because she had stepped behind the bar to throw something away and guests are not allowed behind the bar. I understand that he takes his job seriously, but I’d suggest reminding him that the guests should be the priority. If there is a policy in place that guests are not permitted to use the lobby after a certain time that should be stated or posted. It gave us a great story, but in the moment it was actually pretty scary. Don’t let that deter you from booking though, this is a great hotel!

    Nice for a short stay but not for a holiday. The location is excellent. The wifi is unfortunately very poor and limited.

    Beautiful hotel in a lovely location. The team were superb - from reception through to breakfast and dinner - flawless! The hotel room was of a very high standard, comfortable bed, clean with a stunning view from the balcony across the hotel garden and pool. Air-con, Wi-Fi, etc all of the highest quality. The food at breakfast was good, with dinner even better.

    We stayed for 3 nights Beautiful setting The two rooms were lovely and spacious yes maybe needed a lick of paint but the decor was typically French I don’t want modern! The staff really friendly and helpful The food by the pool was excellent We only had one evening meal which was very good The pool area is lovely- however I do agree with some previous comments that it was not particularly clean. The whole pool area needed some cleaning and attention. This didn’t affect our stay. It seemed like there was a lack of staff something we experienced in our previous hotel. Bearing in mind the price was very reasonable for August I would definitely recommend it. There’s a fabulous boulangerie about a 10 minute walk where we had our breakfast every day.Perfect location to visit nearby Grasse and Antibes. We drove to Monaco which was easy.

    Although rated as a 4-star hotel, and although the garden, pool area are pleasant but not exceptional, the rooms themselves are tired and bathrooms very dirty, buffet breakfast is uninspiring, most staff untrained/offhand, so we concur largely with the negative comments from previous guests (eg: MarionC, Empi, 195adrian, hkh219.....), some dating back several years, indicating management evidently does not care. The restaurant is often closed to residents unless previously booked, because of external functions, which is the last straw after a long drive. When we complained, we were fobbed off by assurances that updates/renovations were planned for the next winter/next year, but interestingly, the same comments had occurred year after year, so were manifestly untrue. Accordingly, we asked for a 15-20% discount to price levels corresponding more to a 2-star hotel. This was refused on the grounds that then "all our other guests would want the same"(!) so we checked out early and found a better alternative nearby. I am also submitting this commentary & photos to the local tourist board/Chambre de Commerce with the suggestion that they revise the hotel rating downwards until the promised enhancements are actually implemented.Photos of bathroom between toilet & bidet:+ as on arrival ( ..... 951)+ after my preliminary washdown with handtowel ( .....836)+ after "scrub" by hotel staff 2 days later ( .....956)
