    Excellent location and great value

    rating03 Sept 2019

Holiday Profile – Dates Aug 2019, with family of four, 2 adults, 2 children 9 years and 6 years. We are experienced short & long-haul travellers. We flew from London to Nice and fly drive deal with BA and were travelling for 2 weeks to various Verdon Gorge. We stayed 3 nights here in the end of August.Booking – Tip: We used Booking.com and got great rates having booked a few months prior, I find them easy to use with the chat app and their process has good comms and free cancellation options. We booked early as we knew the Hotel was very much in demand, and we found the hotel very supportive and responsive to all our requests for checkout, arrival, types of room. The hotel is favoured by locals as well as Europeans due to its easy to find location just off the A8 and in the heart of Les Mougins at the base of the village. Flight/Car Journey – Tip: We flew LHR to Nice by BA, T5 is simply the easiest and best terminal these days and stress free compared to the other airports in peak periods. We took a BA deal for an early morning flight to make full use of the day. We rented a car with our flights with Avis in Nice Airport. Note UK passengers will land a T2 and then have to take a short shuttle to T1 to get to the car rental parking lots, although there is an option for 29 euros to pick your car up from T2 but this is more for regular size and smaller cars I sensed and the Avis Preferred desk was in T1. I would very strongly recommend for people to get a Preferred status with Avis, Budget, Hertz Gold, or whichever frequent member card as there was a considerable line for all rental agencies, looked like at least an hour wait. We by passed this and walked upstairs to the Avis preferred desk, no queue, no line, and in less than 5 mins we were in our car. I am an experienced traveller for flights, cars and hotels but have to say this was the best experience for car hire pick up, very smooth, relaxed and stress free.Drive to Hotel – Tip get the Sat Nav option on hire car, we rented a Mercedes and got an Avis Preferred upgrade to an E220D and this one had a very nice HUD, which was very useful indeed for navigation. We drove the 30 mins to Les Mougins along the A8, note the short journey is via a toll motorway and there are 1-2 tolls depending on route. So do plan to take your contactless cards or have 4-5 euros in coins for the toll booths. The roads get busy in the morning and late evening and good times to avoid in and around the airport and A8 between Nice and Cannes.Check in and Arrival – Tip: We stayed 3 nights as we planned to do some sightseeing, activities and walking in and around Les Mougins, Antibes, Juan Les Pain and Cannes. The location is perfect for Mougins Village and the entrance to Valbonne, Sofia Antipolis and onwards to Grasse. This is not a 5-star hotel and does not pretend to be but it definitely much better than its 2-star rating. Yes, its location is just off the slip road, which is close to main motorways, but that is a good as well as a bad. It is close to Les Mougins Village and that worked well for us to get in and out easily and there was a great supermarket across the road for all those essentials. For those not having driven in this part of the world the roads are reasonably narrow, lots of corners, bends and switchbacks that will keep you on your toes, but well worth it due to the picturesque views, vistas and villages you pass through.Rooms – Tip: Book your rooms in advance, high demand for some of the larger family rooms and rooms outside with their own small patio/shaded areas. We had contacted hotel about arrival and departure to get two rooms for our family, they couldn’t accommodate us in the outside villas just off the pool and we were given two rooms on the 1st floor of the main building, which was perfect as this was 10 steps to breakfast entrance and a minute to the pool. The steps to the rooms were a little narrow so be aware with size of luggage. The hotel staff were all excellent, friendly, informative, it felt like more of a B&B style with the facilities of a quaint country style hotel. The rooms are snug and a little tight for space, furnished decently, beds were a decent size, nice linen and very comfortable and the new paint colourings were nice. The bathrooms were decent, again, a little aged, but the power shower and temperature was as good as any 4 or 5 stars.Poolside & Dining – Tip: A lovely pool and decking area served our needs in the afternoons really well, new parasols, clean decking and a clean clear pool was a real treat. The poolside area is well kept, next to the main building and breakfast room and has a good amount of lounge beds, and areas to sit, and no issues with pool loungers. The pool water was very clean, clear and was good depth for kids in the shallow parts. Breakfast Dining – Tip: as a listed 2 Star don’t expect too much for breakfast, but the food is tasty, locally sourced and good quality, its simple and straightforward provincial French.Overall – Tip: The hotel is in a great location at the base of Les Mougins, it is a quaint, clean, simple and excellent value for money. The staff and service were very good, and the pool area is a great treat. Rooms are on the smaller side but clean, tidy and efficient. As a base for travelling along the Cote D’Azur it makes it easy to get to all the places. It has an excellent supermarket across the road and is 2 mins from Mougins Village. I can highly recommend this for its excellent standards for a listed 2 Star, felt more like a 3.5 star, and as such we found it excellent value.Thank you Les Lisersons.

Better than most 2 Star by far .... But !

    rating21 Aug 2019

We stayed here for four nights / 5 days after visiting friends up in the hills of St Cezaire, it's an old but charming French provincial Hotel, wonderful pool area, very clean throughout if a little worn around the edges, rooms in the Hotel itself are quite small, but adequate, beds are extremely comfortable and overall it is better than alot of 2 star establishments .... BUT ... why oh why, in this day and age do you not supply tea and coffee making facilities in the Hotel rooms ? this one thing for us is a total no no, the simple thing of a kettle and some cups would go far and away to making this such a better experience, i don't want to have to get dressed, come downstairs to the breakfast room and ask for a coffee? nor do i want to return after a night out and not be able to make a hot drink before bed ! such a shame, because nearly all other aspects ( except for the location next to a busy road junction ) are very good. One other thing to note, there are plenty of shops / Tabac / supermarkets near by, however, the one opposite does not sell individual bottles of water nor fresh bread and croissants for some inexplicably reason ? but this of course is not anything to do with the Hotel, would we stay again ? definitely if they improve their Tea / Coffee facilities, otherwise it's a no for this reason alone.

Excellent hotel in the heart of Mougins.

    rating02 Jun 2019

Superb small hotel with very friendly staff. Superb pool and facilities. Have already booked to come back. Close to the main centre of Mougins with all the superb sites nearby. For all the curry fans reading this, there is an excellent Indian restaurant just a 2 minute walk away. These are not easy to find in France!

    Lovely find

    rating27 Aug 2018

This hotel was a pleasant surprise as it offers an excellent value for money in its category, simple but very comfortable. Rooms are small but cosy, with excellent beds. The pool and its surroundings are really lovely. We were greeted and welcomed in an extremely friendly manner which is a real bonus in the Region...Apparently some improvements are planned by the new owners in this place that has indeed a great potential.
