  Beautiful hotel in the quiet surroundings of stunning Porto vecchio

  My girlfriend and I visited this beautiful hotel towards the end of our driving tour of the island of Corsica and we loved it! The hotel is located outside of Porto vecchio in the quiet solitude of the countryside overlooking the stunningly beautiful Santa guilia beach. We stayed near the end of May of this year and found the hotel to be quiet, as planned, but I think that, by it's very nature this hotel would maintain a calm, quiet air even in the heigh of summer, such is the feel to the place. The hotel was easy to find with Google maps, parking was abundant and, as if that wasn't enough, we were literally 5-mins walk from the beach in which we overlooked! Breakfast was included with the room and I've never had breakfast quite like it tbh - usually we go for middle of the road type hotels, mind you, but we had breakfast on the terrace overlooking the beautiful beach and turquoise sea below, in the warm May morning. The staff were v helpful and genuinely wanted to help, more so, and the room was simply luxury. From our lovely, clean, comfortable, quiet room we had a garden view and access to the tennis courts on site...yes, they have tennis courts, at an extra charge, obvs but also the 2 heated pools on site as well. Bear in mind, for those who may overlook this hotel for something closer to the centre of Porto vecchio, that this is v close to the city and, with a city stay, you will likely be charged extra for parking and have few, if any, of the lovely surroundings or facilities, as named, above. Put simply, this hotel is utterly beautiful and in some lovely, quiet surroundings. The beach is on it's doorstep and the quiet and greenery will have you feeling you're staying in a luxury spa far from the madness of the rest of the world!

  “Hotel Castell' Verde, a good 3-star hotel close to the seashore and easy to access.”

  Santa Giulia (S.E. Corsica) offers one of the nicest beaches of Southern Corsica that is also close to the main highway (Porto Vecchio to Bonifacio). By comparison, the other famous beaches of the area are only accessed by narrow winding mountainous roads (e.g. Rondinara and Pamombaggia).The S.G. beach is just a 10 minute walk down from the hotel mostly through a beautifully manicured park. The Castell' Verde is a good 3-star hotel, itself part of a vast group of properties (a self-accommodating residence, another 3- and a 4-star hotel (the Moby Dick), a luxury restaurant, a food shop, etc. . all scattered in a 100 acres private semi-wild space.. Rooms have a pleasantly modern design. Superb view of the Tyrrhenian Sea and the greenery. Service is efficient, friendly and very helpful. The only negative is probably the absence of a real restaurant that would match the quality of the accommodation. (only a -decent -snack-bar).Visited June 2017

  Hotel nestled in a beautiful park over Santa Giulia beach at 15 minutes walk directly from the hotel. Very calm, direct access from the parking to the rooms (you need to have a car in Corsica). Two modes of accommodation: either in the hotel, where we were or in the residence (bungalows integrated in the nature). The restaurant of the hotel is closed for the time being but full breakfast (quite varied) is still served on a beautiful terrasse overlooking Santa Giulia. The hotel had two beautiful heated swimming pools. The hotel restaurant nearby the beach (the Mobydick) and not far from the natural pond where we went for our first night was good but the smell coming from the pond was quite disturbing, it was a windy period though. There is a lot of choice for restaurants in Porto Vecchio, 7 km away from the hotel.

  Great complex worth to visit

  Good staff, good breakfast on a terrace with stunning viewThe rooms were good equipped, clean and new!The only problem was the problem with the wifi, but you're there on a vacation!The complex is calm and one can really rest and forget about everything.I qualify the value for money as avarage just because France as a whole is more expensive. But regarding the hotel is in France the value for money may be excellent.

  Good value for money

  This was my third visit to Castel Verde, self-catering. The resort is close to the beach and Santa Giulia has a great beach good for kids. You can rent a sun bed for EUR 15 a day in front of the Bar Plage. There is also a smaller beach where you can rent by the hour which can be more cost effective. I would recommend you rent a car as the resort is more remote. The reception staff are very nice, friendly and accommodating.The bungalows are big and have a well equipped kitchen (frying pan, cutlery, bowls, coffee maker, kettle, microwave, medium size fridge) so for self-catering this is great. There is a Geant Casino supermarket approx. 17 min drive but there are a few more small supermarkets closer to the resort. There is also a dishwasher and for a week you also receive a dish sponge and some tablets to use for the dishwasher but you will need to buy additional detergent if you are going to use the kitchen more. The bed & bed sheets are ok. The bathroom is very small and to our surprise we only had a small hand towel so we had to buy some. Also, there is no hair dryer. The rooms are very dark as the lights are dim – a bit too dark to my taste. There should be internet access in bungalows but reality is it is working so poorly that it becomes frustrating to use. Approx. 2 days was off and when it was working it took even 3 min to load a page.There are a lot of mosquitos and insects so you have to be careful when going out in the evening and even in rooms. Our experience with the Costa Rica Restaurant (the resort restaurant) was not very positive. In the first evening we wanted to go for dinner but because we had a self-catering accommodation we were asked to move to a table with poor view. We were then ignored for over 20 min (not even asked for drinks) during which people that arrived after us were served with drinks and food. We were not impressed at all with the level of service at the restaurant and this left us with a bitter taste. Luckily right on the beach there is a Bar Plage Restaurant which excellent service and amazing food at the same prices so our evening was saved. Overall the resort offers good value for money and we will come back here in the future!
