“Edgey”, modern hotel! Great bar, comfy bed & tasty food.

    rating06 Mar 2026

Travel. We arrived via Crystal ski transfer and used a local service, SNOWCAB to get back to Turin airport. This was €50 per head. Location.Hotel Anova is conveniently located around a 10 minute walk from the centre. There is a shuttle bus to run you around should you need. It’s ski in, ski out with the button lift accessible directly from outside the ski room. Access to the main slopes is a short ski down to the bubble lift. The rooms. The rooms at HA are modern and arty. We stayed in a double room with a balcony that offered views of the slopes below and the surrounding peaks. There is good storage and hanging space offered, along with a safe. The bed was comfortable and offered a square or rectangular pillow. The bathroom featured a large walk in shower which was lovely and warm and had good pressure. Soap and shampoo bars were provided, along with herbal tea and coffee facilities. Towels robes and slippers were provided for the spa. The bar. Good variety of drinks served at the usual prices. Friendly and efficient staff. NOTE: We ordered a bottle of house red wine, which was charge at €67. I would recommend checking the wine list prior to ordering any bottles.Spa. The spa is free to guests from 10am to 2pm, after 2pm there is a charge of €20 per person, per day. We did use the spa one morning which offers a pool, sauna, steak room and hot tub. It was clean, modern and we had an enjoyable time. The restaurant. And now we come to the part that lets the hotel down, although i am sure if you were just visiting to use the restaurant, you’d likely have a pleasant experience. Breakfast The breakfast was a buffet, offering either pod or bean to cup coffee, a range of teas and freshly squeezed orange, grapefruit or apple juice which you do yourself - which was fun and extremely tasty! There was a range of fresh breads, meats, cheese, fruit, granola, spreads, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs and bacon offered daily. There wasn’t really much effort made to provide anything extra for dietary requirements, but I managed to make eggs on toast by semi boiling an egg and scrambling on my plate. I also throughly enjoyed the granola, cereal and nut selection, and almond milk was provided. Dinner The food was very tasty and appeared to be freshly cooked with good ingredients, and there is a good choice. However, being a half board guest is extremely complicated especially if you have dietary requirements. After a 7 night stay, we still hadn’t fully grasped how they work their menu out.HA offer a 3 course, menu of the day for dinner, which changes daily. During the week we were here, there wasn’t a single vegetarian main option on this menu. However, you can choose to eat outside of the daily menu and can pick from half of the full menu. When you do this you sacrifice your starter (unless you pay a supplement), even if you have a dietary requirement and are left no choice. I have to mention the curly haired waitress we had at the start of the week, she was helpful and worked with us ensure that I got enough to eat, however, once we got a new waitress we were very bluntly told that the menu is the menu and that is that. On the half of the full menu that I could have as part of the half board by sacrificing the starter, there were only 2 vegetarian options, 1 of which was dairy free. A poke bowl with cheese, or a noddle wok. Both were very tasty and I alternated between these throughout the week, although the poke bowl did arrive with cheese sometimes despite me starting that I cannot eat dairy. I tried to have pasta 1 day, and asked for it to be cooked in just egg, however I reacted to this. I cannot complain as each meal I had was tasty, but by the end of the week I was sick of noodles and poke bowls. The rest of my group with no dietary issues also found it confusing to navigate the menu. It was explained differently several times, despite us having a French speaker in our group. And often the menu of the day main was priced higher than the alternatives from the half of the full menu that we could pick from, yet a supplement was charged or starter wasn’t allowed. Personally, as someone with a restricted diet, I expected better and have experienced better from a hotel of this standard and probably wouldn’t return on that basis. There wasn’t really any effort made to accommodate the fact that I don’t eat meat, and especially that I react badly to diary.

    A delightful stay.

Just had a lovely week at the Anova. Our room was excellent apart from poor lighting and kept very clean by the housekeeping team. The bar is comfortable and welcoming. The food is very well cooked with plenty of variety. Breakfasts were very good with lots of choice.Evening meals were well presented but hot plates would have kept the food hotter. All the staff were very friendly. Stéphane Dandoy, Propriétaire at Anova Hotel & Spa, responded to this review Thank you very much for your lovely feedback and for spending the week with us at ANOVA Hôtel & Spa.We’re delighted that you enjoyed your room, the welcoming atmosphere of the bar, and the quality and variety of our cuisine — your compliments to our housekeeping and kitchen teams truly mean a lot. Awesome slope side hotel

    rating07 Feb 2026

The Anova is a well priced high quality establishment that is on the piste at The Obelisque run served by a drag lift. You can also walk 80m away from the town at the bottom of the Obelisque to get right on the blue for Tremplin lift over to the other side of the valley and a green to Claviere. The service at this hotel is spot on, everyone from the bar staff, reception, ski hire shop, restaurant and house keepers are all friendly and excellent at their jobs. The outside terrace snack bar is well priced. The main restaurant serves high quality meals, and the half board daily dinner menu is extremely varied, high quality, and good value. Stéphane Dandoy, Propriétaire at Anova Hotel & Spa, responded to this review Thank you sincerely for such a detailed and thoughtful review. We’re delighted that you enjoyed our ski-in location at the Obélisque, as well as the easy access across the valley — it truly is a privilege to be right on the slopes. Your kind words about our teams, from reception to ski shop, restaurant, bar and housekeeping, mean a great deal to us. Delivering warm, attentive service is at the heart of the ANOVA experience. We’re also pleased that you appreciated the terrace snack bar and the quality and variety of our half-board dinner menu. It would be a pleasure to welcome you back for another stay in Montgenèvre.

    World class hot chocolate!

Stopped by the Anova Hotel for après-ski drinks and wow, absolutely unforgettable. Hands down the best hot chocolate I’ve ever had… truly next level. The vin chaud was equally exceptional. The atmosphere is cosy, quirky, and incredibly welcoming, and you can genuinely feel how passionate the staff are about delivering an outstanding guest experience. Special shout out to Tomas behind the bar, his service took the whole experience to another level. Highly recommend! Mixed - Costly New Years Eve Ticket and experience was awful

    rating15 Jan 2026

The easiest way to share my thoughts is to share the complaints letter I sent to the hotel over 2 weeks ago. The response I received was unsatisfactory and took no responsibility for the issues we had but accepted that they had over-charged us and would refund which they still havent done. Do NOT stay for the New Year event, it was awful! My wife and I stayed with you from 22nd December 2025 to 2nd January 2026; spending over £5000 on the accomodation, meals and other extras. Our stay and experience has been quite mixed as follows: - Our first week with you was great; the room was comfortable with great bedding and a great shower. We spent time in the Spa on the 23rd and enjoyed it almost entirely to ourselves. We booked onto the Christmas Eve meal and this was delicious and the restaurant manager; Maud in particular was brilliant and also the bar manager. - The only thing that wasn’t great the first week was the maid service - they didn’t clean our room or the bathroom at all during our stay and left dirty glasses and didn’t replace coffee and tea on a regular basis. We had to strip the bed to get them to change the bedding and put towels on the floor so they would replace towels. The second week, we expected clean robes but this wasn’t forthcoming so again I had to put these on the floor with the towels and even then, they didn’t replace them - I had to go to reception to get replacements. As a minimum, I would have expected it standard practice for the room to be cleaned on a daily basis and towels to be changed regularly and at least one full change of bedding during such a long stay. - we had a full meal in the restaurant on the 30th December and the meal was outstanding and again the restaurant manager excellent - Maud. - we were really looking forward to the New Years Eve buffet as the Christmas Eve meal had been so nice so on the evening, we went down to the bar early to have a few drinks in the comfort of the fire and sofas. Before we could finish our drink, the receptionist; Nassim; came over to the sofas and asked us and some other guests if we could go into the restaurant as the sofa area had been reserved by external guests - non residents. Ourselves and the other paying guests were not happy with this as we didn’t want to go into the restaurant at that point and as residents, we felt, we should not be asked to leave of the residents bar. - we spoke to Nassim to say we were not happy that we couldn’t use the bar as residents and was being told to go to the restaurant and we would need to stay there for the evening because the bar tables had been booked by non residents. He told us that you had 200 guests arriving and that we had a seat in the restaurant. We said we didn’t want to stay in the restaurant all night - we wanted to be able to relax in the lounge as residents and he merely shrugged his shoulders and completely dismissed us. - we went into the restaurant and talked to Maud about it who again was brilliant. As we were talking to Maud, some other English guests overheard us and said to her that they agreed with us and were not happy as paying residents to be forced into the restaurant all night. - we were seated at a table which was right in the middle of the restaurant - between the buffet and the door so we were basically surrounded by people coming in and out of the restaurant constantly - this was not comfortable at all and we didn’t understand why we couldn’t be seated at the table we had been seated at the previous 2 occasions but again our issues were dismissed - even though the tables that we had sat at previously remained pretty much free for a further hour. - we asked for water for the table 4 times before we received any water….the restaurant was chaos with people coming in and out with food and there were queues for the buffet and queues for the hot food all in the same small space and all backing into our table. The quality of the food was not great - the seafood was frozen; the buffet food was limited with very little choice; the pasta was cold and bland and the cooked meat was not cooked. We ended up leaving; having had very little food and before dessert. We bought takeaway pizza as we were hungry. The cost of the buffet was not justified in light of the quality of the food, the table we were given and the service. It was clear that the hotel were cashing in on getting as many people to buy tickets as possible without any regard for residents who had been at the hotel for the whole period. We feel that we were treated really badly and when we raised this with reception, they agreed to refund a very small amount of the cost of the evening - they couldn’t do any more as they didn’t have the authority. - the following day, we booked the spa and paid 20 euros but when we got into the spa, there were some big groups - we had to share a locker and we were not able to use the Jacuzzi as one of the large groups stayed in it, the whole time we was there. We tried the steam room which wasn’t working so left after half an hour. - on the evening of the 1st, we went to reception to pay our bill and raised our complaint regarding the New Year event and was offered a small refund as mentioned above. I paid the bill and then checked it with my wife back at the room - we found that we had been charged an amount for the spa when we hadn’t used it and had been charged 2.5 euros per day more than the booking agreement for parking. We raised this with reception and showed evidence of our booking which stated 12 euros pay day for he parking. Nassim agreed that we should be refunded 67.50 but that he wasn’t able to do this so it would be refunded on the following day - the 2nd of January. Today is the 4th January and that refund has still not been made. My request is that you refund the overcharged amount of 67.50 immediately and the full amount of the New Years Eve event in recognition of our experience as outlined above. We paid over £5000 to stay with you over Christmas and New Year and feel that we were treated very badly in the latter part of our stay which is a shame as we did have a great time in the earlier stages and our only issue was the cleaning. We do want to recognise that you have some great people working there -Maud and the bar manager but our experience and some of your staff and their ability to offer a good service, i.e. Nassim has let it down hugely. We are not people who complain without cause but feel quite strongly on this occasion that as guests who were staying with you for 2 weeks, paying over £5000; that we should have received a better service.
