    Campanile Grenoble North/Nord breaks contracts then makes unauthorised credit card debits.

    I have been a fan of Campanile hotels in France for 20 years and have used them 4 or 6 times a year en route to/from home to gites. in recent years I have booked via the Campanile website and get a 10% member discount. In the last 12 months I have had 3 contracts set up via the website and accepted by the hotels that have then been broken, ie not honoured, by the hotel. My recent booking at Grenoble Nord exemplifies the issue.I had booked for one night, 2 people at the half -board rate at 126.72 Euros. Having driven for more than 6 hours, excluding breaks, to get there and looking forward to a brief rest before the evening meal we were told that the restaurant was closed! A booking made and confirmed by the hotel on 24th April had been broken. We didn't want to drive elsewhere to eat.I agreed a new contract for B&B with the staff member on duty at 87.41 euros - a derisory discount in terms of the poor service and broken contract.In the morning I went to pay and was told that a debit of 94.32 euros had alreasdy been made to my credit card. This debit was not discussed and not authorised by me - a scandalous behaviour.A helpful employee, not the manager, gave me the balnce I was owed from her own purse.I have met the same situation with 2 further Campanile bookings where somebody thinks a pizza and a plate of mainly grated carrot is a viable alternative to the restaurant and charged at the same rate as the self selection of hors d'ouvres or sweets buffets and a choice of main dishes. This is a totally unacceptable business practice by Campanile hotels, showing nothing but contempt for the customers.My solution - I am trying IBIS next time.

    It started badly when the room i was given had not been cleaned and i had to change it. Then the new room was freezing and despite leaving the heating on full all night it was still cold. The restaurant was cold and ran out of steak. Breakfast ran out of eggs and bacon at 7:30.I will try the other Campanile in Grenoble next time.     Be careful with the housekeeping

    We left my mobile wallet in the room with credit cards and some money in the room as we thought France should be trustworthy but we were wrong. When we were packing to leave the hotel , we realised the wallet was missing. We decided just to use my partner's cards and money as we were not planning a lot to do on the day so we left it in the room. Surely we reported to the police and built the case. We do wish if the hotel realised that someone in the hotel have done something wrong, can you please return our personal belonging. Thank you. Wifi is super slow and breakfast is over priced, certainly not worth 9.9 Euro!!     Good stopover hotel

    Good place if you're stopping over while going somewhere else. Hotel room was roomy and comfortable. No kitchen service on Sunday, and bar almost non-existent. There are two Campanile Nord hotels (St Egreve and Moirans), we went to the wrong one, and were put up there even though the reservation clerk could see from our reservation document that we were in the wrong "Nord." We were charged twice due to this, but the hotel honored our claim and refunded our money after discussion with our travel agent. Give them credit for that. The hotel is out near the Autoroute, which is convenient, but it's in a light industrial area, and no restaurants nearby, and going into Grenoble-yikes! The traffic is worse than Paris, drivers more rude, and parking not to be found. However, there's a nice Chinese buffet a couple miles down the road (out of the hotel, to the right) which we went to after a miserable experience of choked traffic in Grenoble on a Sunday no less. The Campanile setup is more like a motel, where you enter from the walkway or up the steps to a covered walkway to your room. The hotel does have free parking, which was a major point, since it would have been impossible at a hotel in town. If it's a business trip and you're visiting one of the nearby businesses, this would be a very convenient location.     Good but some details should be improved

    The hotel should be indicated in the commercial zone of St Egrève especially at the beginning of the street "René Cassin". The room was comfortable except that there was only one chair for two persons. The Wifi is quite slow.
