Location

    The hotel is in a lovely location with a park at the rear and lots of restaurants and a cinema in front. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room, though basic, was quite comfortable. The room was dated and a little tired but was clean. The only issue we had was that the air conditioning didn't cool in the evening, it just operated as a fan, it was very warm when we visited and this meant that we were a little uncomfortable. Perhaps this was our error as we didn't mention it to the staff, so never gave them the chance to rectify. All things considered we had a wonderful break away as we used this hotel as a base.     Probably last Campanile we will stay in ever

    Restaurant closed Friday and weekend and it would have been nice to be told as we turned up and were summarily turned away, with a curt "Closed weekend" (it was Friday). Breakfast mediocre at best. No hot food except toast in a toaster which doesnt toast unless you have half hour to spare.The bread cutting knife wouldnt cut butter! The dinner menu is somewhat "sparse"Internet very very slow at best.On plus side, nice clean room although the desk worktop would have been safer if screwed in place!The bath is the smallest I have been in. Short and narrow. You can wash your armpits by putting soap on your knees :-)My colleague is disabled and booked as such. We were allocated 1st floor-I dont think so! There may be disabled rooms but in spite of booking one we didnt get it..We stayed in different Campaniles all week this week. Probably never again.     Budget hotel that covers the basics. Simple room and bathroom, parking and a small restaurant. We chose this hotel as it was close to Ypres as we were attending the commemoration events on 30/31 July.The shower did not work properly and the plug for the bath was missing. The room had a permanent musty odour about it. The general room had a dirty feel to it.The bed was comfy though and the A/C worked.Despite 60% of the cars in the car park being British the TV only had French channels.Breakfast was as basic as it gets.By the time the food and taxes were added to the bill the price was not far off a regular hotel.I have used campanile's before and they have been clean and had a decent breakfast.Budget hotel should not been poor hotel.     Lacklustre buffets and unhelpful staff

    Arrived to the hotel, I speak very little French but am more than happy to try my best. Staff made no attempt to speak more slowly or use gestures, or attempt even the odd English word. I do understand that it not everyone speaks English but we can get a long way by simply being friendly.Came back for dinner, there was an offer on for 2/3 courses for a set price. Opted for the 2 course option. For starters we were directed to a buffet which was almost empty and no attempt was made to refill any of the dishes. Salad was wilted and a lot of flies around. For the main we ordered steak (a safe bet you would think). On arrival it turned out to be a rather rare burger patty (no bun) a lettuce leaf and some fries to share.Breakfast was again from the buffet. Not a lot on offer and most was cold and looked like it had been out a long time (we arrived around 07:30)Air conditioning in the room didn't work and only blew hot air, so barely slept all night considering it was one of the hottest days of the year at >35 Celsius.Would not recommend at all unless you speak good French and even then do not expect a good quality of stay.
