    My husband and I had a lovely stay in this charming hotel. We had a refurbished room, it was comfortable, quiet and bed was great with so soft bedding. The bathroom was large with double sinks and a good shower. Staff was exceptionally gracious and went out their way to be welcoming and offer help. Location and breakfast were perfect.     Nice staff and location, but the room isn't up to snuff....

    I recently stayed at the Globe et Cecil in Lyon (October 2024). While the location was great, the breakfast delicious, and the staff extremely nice, the room itself was not very good. It was very tight and awkwardly designed. For example, if you opened the French windows, one window would be over the bed. To go into the bathroom, one had to really hug the wall otherwise you couldn't pass because the sink stuck out so far. Also, I found it annoying that I had to leave the key at the front desk just like we did back in the 80s. I know, I know...people will say European hotel rooms are notoriously small and maybe even outdated, but this is supposed to be a four-star property. It's an exaggeration as this hotel is two star at best. The property had two saving graces: 1) the staff and 2) the location, which made it easy to walk to many attractions.     We had short stay in this very conveniently located hotel in the center of Lyon. Vieux Lyon, rue Mercière and Place Bellecour are all within walking distance. The hotel rooms are small but convenient and clean. There is a bar and restaurant in the hotel. Staff is friendly.     We stayed here for 6 nights at the beginning of September 2023. The hotel is situated in a very central location, has a good reception and breakfast. Our superior double room, however, was not superior. The room furnishings were old and tattered, the air conditioning didn't work and the carpet was heavily stained . We asked for a partial discount on the room price but got no response. Whoever regulates hotels in Lyon should get the management to sort this out. It is a disgrace.     Cooperative and rooms needs improvement.

    Hotel was rated as 4 star. This is NOT a 4 star hotel. The AC was not working and the rooms weee old and dirty. The shag carpet was gross. That being said, the hotel service and personnel weee great. They were also very accommodating (because our original hotel did not have our reservations due to a disgruntled employee that had since been let go) and the original Al hotel found this hotel at a moments notice. I think this hotel would be great if the rooms and hallways were renovated.
