    Overpriced basic accommodation

    rating15 Aug 2016

I couldn't believe that this hotel was charging €107 a night without breakfast. The air con didn't work and the bed was hard. The room very basic and on a par with the UK Travelodge. Basically a motel. Walls were thin and for this sort of money I expect a breakfast (okay it's like this in many parts of France so not unusual). Bathroom okay but nothing special and basic shower. I was invited with a group and this hotel was arranged for our night stay for a 2 day visit to the nearby Puy du Fou. Please see my other review for that, and it turned out to be a big mistake to stay here as the traffic at midnight was dreadful (due to the people leaving the park at the same time after the evening sonnet et luminaire). You can get better value elsewhere.

    Visiting family before traveling on

    rating22 Jul 2016

Found Campanile Cholet a few minutes away from soon to become family . Both my wife and I had to get somewhere quickly as are arranged accommodation had fallen through. Staff st Campanile were more than just helpful they went the extra mile. They were very courteous and friendly. Accommodation was very simple , clean and professional , the food both in the evening was varied with options for standard one off meals and a full 3 course meal service. Quality was very good with lots of options . Overall better than a standard travel lodge but not as good as the Hilton hotels. 9/10

    Very outdated, old feeling motel

    rating08 Sept 2015

Staff were nice during our stay, especially at breakfast - which was a nice buffet experience. We had a room on the first floor at the back - very dark, with a wall of trees blocking out any chance of sunlight; not helped by the interior furnishings, which felt like they had been bought from a charity shop. The warning came after we had collected our keys on arrival and started making our way up the exterior stairs - the like of which I have not seen in a long time, fully in near of paint stripping and repainting - surely not a major job for the owners? The rooms at the front facing the road MAY give a better feeling of light as there are no trees to block out the light. Bathroom, needless today, also from the 1960's. All in all, I would say VERY overpriced, compared with other hotels in this town. You could spend £20 more and get a MUCH better standard nearby. ... and forget getting wifi in your room - we found it nigh on impossible. It was so slow, it was like the first days of Internet, when you had to wire up to a phone line and make a cup of tea while waiting for the next web page to load up.

One Up From The Cheap French Chains

    rating23 Jul 2012

We stayed in room 31 on the night of 24th July 2012. We booked on-line to get the "Summer Sale" special offer and paid 59 euros. When booking we asked for a quiet, ground floor non-smoking room, and that's what we got. Room 31 is at the rear of the hotel and the outlook is trees and a grassed area. The room appears to be one of the recently refurbished ones with wood laminate flooing and green tiles in the bathroom, and was very clean (Although there was a hint of a "sewage smell" in the bathroom). These rooms have an external shutter that when lowered leaves the room completly dark - which we prefer for a good nights sleep. The bed did have the quality bedding that Campanile claim and the bed was nicely firm.We arrived at about 17.00 as the staff were having their dinner in the public dining area, but they were very helpfull, answering all of our questions about shops etc in the area. The nearest hypermarket is a LeClerc a few minutes drive away. After checking the restaurant of the Hotel across the road, we decided to dine here. Using the "free drink" token that came with our room, we chose from the menu. Me Rump Steak and French Fries, My wife the daily special - a lamb kebab with french fries -to which she added the Starter Buffet. The food was "good", no more, with a huge pile of french fries served with each plate. My wife's starter buffet gets a "very good" abd she's sorry that she didn't just stick to that. The Restaurant manager, a large women was excellent, attentive, friendly and good humoured, but the service was slow. Still it was very busy.As a better stay that our usual B & B type chain, then it was good value. a nice stay.
