    Conflicting experience

    rating21 May 2026

Nice room, good breakfast and central location in downtown. However, shower and wc very tiny, like in a ferry cabin. We never did not find our way to hotel's garage and had to use public parking. Impossible to navigate there. Laurent STROZYK, General Manager at Mercure Nantes Centre Grand Hotel, responded to this review Dear guest,Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are delighted that you enjoyed the room, our breakfast and our location in the heart of the city. However, we are sorry to hear about the difficulties you encountered regarding the size of the bathroom and access to the car park. A detailed email with directions to the car park is sent to our guests prior to arrival, and our reception team is also available by phone to assist you if necessary. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back soon.Kind regards,Erin AUCHERExecutive assistant

    Good location, average room

Stayed in room 342 for 1 night visiting for businessRoom was a good size but a little run down. Scratches, paint missing, not that clean if I have to be honest. Not sure if I would stay again Laurent STROZYK, General Manager at Mercure Nantes Centre Grand Hotel, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your recent business stay with us.We are pleased to read that you appreciated our location and the size of the room. However, we are truly sorry to learn that the condition and cleanliness of room 342 did not meet your expectations. The issues you mention regarding scratches, missing paint, and the overall level of cleanliness are certainly not representative of the standards we aim to provide to our guests. Please rest assured that your comments have been shared with our housekeeping and maintenance teams so that the room can be thoroughly inspected and the necessary improvements carried out. Good Location, Standard Room

    rating16 Feb 2026

Location: Great location with easy access to the main town for shopping, just 1 minute from tram and bus stops, area of hotel is pedestrianised although note the actual road/alley of the hotel is not very nice and is run down but always felt safe Room: Basic room, no bottled water. Room layout has shower/sink and toilet seperated but it works okay as there is seperate door to the bedroom. The toilet totally smells as they leave the toilet brush exposed and did not look like it had been replaced for a while. Room lacks storage space and the shower is large but the sink is small and made of plastic look, when looking close you realise lots of wear and tear. No air con in winter as its centrally controlled but they quickly brought us a fan on request. However, the bed is super comfy with both firm and soft pillow often and a very nice fluffy pillow - slept verg well. Breakfast: Has a good enough selection (including crepe maker and loose leaf tea options) but unfortunately its in a small room which is cramped and chaotic and quickly runs out of food and drink although staff are working hard to replenish. Communal area: Entrance and lounge area is spacious and nice decor. Bar was relaxing but limited cocktail options. Conclusion: Would choose to stay here again due to the reasonable price and location. Would put up with the annoyances for a very short stay.

Our #1 for Nantes - excellent in every way, outstanding staff

    rating08 Nov 2025

Outstanding hotel. Coming from the train, hopped #1 tram to Commerce, 1 block from hotel, which is in the lovely pedestrian zone. Rooms was large, excellent bed & bedding, WC was sleek, nice to have a little fridge & bathrobes. Our "Priviledge" Room also had a Juliet balconey overlooking the walkway, lovely for a breeze yet soundproof.Common rooms have simple elegance (lobby, bar, restaurant). Didn't use the gym, but ironing room was handy! Great area for seeing sights, restaurants & shops.BTW our impressions of this hotel started out great in the first minutes because of the young lady at reception, Julie, who greeted us the afternoon of Nov 2nd. Rarely do we meet someone so flawless in every aspect. She was warm, friendly and very efficient. Provided an excellent room, clear information and made sure we were aware of all the hotel offers. After giving us our keys (without having to ask, 2) she asked if there was any other way she could help make our visit better. One has the feeling she will be succesful in any profession but she is certainly perfectly suited to hospitality. This is definitely our No #1 for Nantes on any return trip. Laurent STROZYK, Directeur général at Mercure Nantes Centre Grand Hotel, responded to this review Dear guest,Thank you for your wonderful feedback regarding your recent stay at Mercure Nantes Centre - Grand Hôtel. We are delighted to learn that you found our location convenient and enjoyed the various amenities in your Privilege Room, including the terrace and the comfortable bedding. Her dedication to providing exceptional service embodies the values we strive to uphold at our hotel. It is heartening to hear that she made such a positive impression on you, and I will be sure to share your compliments with her.We look forward to welcoming you back to our hotel on your next visit to Nantes.

    I wont be back

    rating02 Nov 2025

Firstly, there is too much choice in Nantes, so I won’t return here. We had 2 nights in Nantes, to see the sights and experience the city. This hotel was not the place to do it from. Everything was just functional. No one on staff seemed inclined to go the extra kilometre. I had booked a Privilege room, which seemed to be a slight upgrade when booking, but frankly it wasnt worth anything extra. The room was very small, and particularly in the area of the hallway, toilet and shower room, it was poorly configured. There were too many doors, light switches, etc and in all the wrong places. I am a large person and there was insufficient room for me to comfortably bend over and spit into the sink after washing my teeth. The shower has 2 heads, a manual head and a large overhead grill built into the ceiling. Switching between them requires a valve to be pulled out before turning on the tap. The problem there is that the only way to do this means you get soaked with cold water while turning it on.The toilet was similarly small. The bed was comfortable and linens were good quality. The Privilege room meant we received a very small box of biscuits left on the bed for us on arrival. The box was cardboard and not airtight meaning that the biscuits were soft and inedible. There was a strange radio-thing on the bedside table. Perhaps it was a smart-speaker/alarm radio. It was just taking up space which I needed for my own devices. But untangling it from the telephone cables just to place it on the floor was a real chore. Breakfast was adequate. The nespresso machine was for decaff coffee, but wasnt working properly on the 2nd morning. The fresh fruit selection (my breakfast preference) was only adequate. The bread and hot food was good. The staff all seemed disinterested and purely functional throughout. None smiled or wished me a “bonne journée”I will choose a different hotel next time I am overnighting in Nantes Laurent STROZYK, Directeur général at Mercure Nantes Centre Grand Hotel, responded to this review Dear guest,Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent stay with us. I regret to learn that your experience did not meet your expectations, particularly concerning the layout and functionality of the Privilege room. We appreciate your insights about the room configuration and the shower system, as this information is valuable for our ongoing assessments.I am pleased to hear that you found the bed comfortable and appreciated the quality of the linens. However, I understand your disappointment with the biscuits provided in your room and the issue with the Nespresso machine during breakfast. Your comments about the breakfast offerings have been noted, and I will ensure they are addressed with the team.It is concerning to hear that our service did not reflect our commitment to hospitality. We strive to create a warm and engaging environment for our guests, and your observations will be shared with the team to reinforce this standard.Thank you once again for your feedback, and I wish you the best in your future travels.David ChevalierAccommodation Manager
