  My stay was a nightmare. I needed to go to a hospital in Dortmund to visit family and unfortunately booked this hotel. The mattress was very thin and uncomfortable, I could feel the slatted base underneath, which was also broken and incomplete. I couldn’t sleep at all.The sheets were not clean, which was disgusting, but I had no choice. There was no receptionist, and since I arrived late, I couldn’t book another hotel to avoid this one. Don't trust Do NOT go there.

  Starting with arrival everything was terrible. Accessed car park at rear through very narrow alley which is ok but then in the car park there were 3-4 individuals just hanging around, including the receptionist!Reception and the Bar closes at 10pm.Room very small, pillows very uncomfortable. Bathroom so small you can hardly turn around.Breakfast was ok.

  This is a fantastic hotel with helpful and friendly staff, nice, spacious rooms and is very clean. Hotel Senator is great value and would have been ideal for our overnight stop on a long road trip, but for it’s location in a rather edgy neighbourhood, hence the low rating. The car park was full so tried parking on the street beside the hotel, but we’re informed by three gentlemen hanging about on the pavement that it was reserved for the adjacent shisha bar. We did find a space nearby, but broken windows and graffiti in the neighbourhood meant that we did worry a little about personal safety and security of the car. The hotel is great if you are looking for great value and a clean and friendly place to stay as long as you have a bit of a sense of adventure.

  Stayed here for the one and only time. Room smelt like it had a smoker staying there for year. The sheets etc were clean but everything was very dated. To top our stay off, we had no water when arriving at the hotel. When we asked the lady at reception she said it would only be for an hour. She probably should’ve mentioned it on our arrival! Anyway, got back late after watching the football (which I recommend!) and there was still no water and no staff at the hotel! Same story in the morning. When we reported the issue AGAIN at reception the lady on duty asked “what do you want me to do about it?” And then furthermore, refuses to believe us and sent someone up to check we weren’t lying. I suggest to anyone looking here to use another hotel, the other end of town as the area is not great! Only good thing was the off greet parking!

  I wasn't sure what I was going to think about this hotel after reading reviews and looking at pictures. Sure, its not the most exquisite piece of architecture I have ever seen but it is a great little hotel. The staff were fantastic, great service, very polite and gave good advice on the local area. The room I had was clean and bright, the bathroom was a little "tired" but perfectly functional. There is a private car park at the back (accessed through a passageway). I walked into the centre from the hotel each evening which took around 20mins (you can take the subway if you prefer) . The breakfast was typical European but good quality and fresh. Superb hotel, I would stay here again.
