    Nice hotel with friendly staff and great bar !Only downside was when we came down to breakfast there was no nothing left apart from a bit of toast and fruit ..That said the location is great and the rooms were what you would expect for this standard hotel.     We were in Dortmund for a football match. We stayed in this Mercure the second night (the City one for the first night). This Mercure was far better than the City one - it actually has a normal type entrance and reception set up for a start. Not the cheapest hotel, but they obviously knew the football was on. Welcome was friendly and room was fine. Hair dryer was very week. Bath towels are not very big.And the usual question - would i stay there again. The answer is Yes, but I'd check prices elsewhere.     Good central hotel close to everything

    Stayed here while attending Dortmund football match. Location :Great location, literally around the corner from main shopping district with lots of restaurants and bars to choose from. Great area. The underground train station is around the corner and the main train station about 20 mins walk or less. Rooms: Our room was nice (117) we had 3 in our party so the room had one double bed and a pull out sofa bed which was a double. It left the room with hardly any space to walk around so was quite tight. The decor was nice. However the seal on the window was damaged so you could actually feel the breeze getting in (during snow weather) The tv had only one English Channel so wasn’t great. BE WARNED check if there is any party’s or function on in the hotel if you are staying in this room as there was a party on while we stayed and literally felt like the dj was in our wardrobe the music was that loud. Singing and talking could even be heard clearly. I did say it to girl in reception the next morning and she apologised but literally got no sleep until music stopped. Bar/Food:We did not have dinner in the hotel restaurant so cannot comment. Restaurant decor was ok, very 1920’s feel. There is a very small bar that usually only opens from 5pm-12pm however one of the days they opened for us to have a drink at 3:30pm which was no bother for them, they were very nice and a special mention to Ben the new Barman from the UK. He’s great! Breakfast wasn’t great, but that may be just us that’s used to Irish style food. Not much hot food on offer, pancakes and plenty fab pastries though. If going to a Dortmund match :We travelled to Dusseldorf airport and got the sky train into the main train station on to Dortmund €16.50 each one way. It was difficult to find out correct trains ect as very bad signage at airport and trains so do your homework before you get there. It took us over an hour to figure it out. Train journey from airport was 50 mins. We got a taxi from our hotel to signal iduna park and it took 8 mins and costs €14. Easy to get taxis after match too which was surprising.     Don’t go to this hotel unless you want people to come into your room and urinate in your bathroom!

    We went here for the Christmas fair in Dortmund. Came here in the afternoon, the room was fine. When we came back in the evening someone had urinated all over the bathroom. The hotel says nobody has been in the room, but someone clearly pushed the button in the sink and urinated in it.They couldn’t offer another room or a clean up so we left the same evening. They didn’t even think it was strange at all and just explained that they couldn’t find any indication someone had been in the room and still charged the full 180 euro’s from our creditcard anyway.After some calls and mails we can clearly say they don’t care what happened and for them this is a normal thing that can happen in a hotel. So we are now proceeding via legal advisors.This is by far the worst hotel experience ever!

    Lovely hotel, clean, lovely decor, very welcoming staff and extremely very helpful. Great choice of breakfast and really fresh. WiFi not good at all but the great staff at reception got us logged in after we couldn’t connect but it kept dropping after a few minutes and we had to reconnect, we had roaming on our mobile plans so it wasn’t a hassle. Definitely a location hotel perfect for easy transport to Dortmund Signal Iduna Park or a spot of city shopping. This is a city centre hotel so be warned there is a bit of noise and you do hear faint rumble of the underground rail system now and again which is very close by but a seasoned traveller who does their homework would know there is always some sort of noise in a city centre but don’t let it put you off this hotel, I would return in a heartbeat.
