Great hardware, not so good software.

This is a new hotel in Dresden. It is beautifully restored and designed. The furniture are new, and there is a slightly modern and yet understated vibe in the main areas which is very nice and to my liking. The location is unbeatable - right across from the famed Opera House and walking distance to almost all of the main attractions in Dresden. Check in was fairly quick and efficient. The deluxe suite assigned was very large, with a small separate kitchenette, with a large refrigerator, which was nice, and even had a separate dining room. It felt much like a high end apartment. The bedroom was small but comfortable. The bedding was about average. The bed linens were a bit rough for my liking. Bathroom was adequate but the water pressure was below average, which I thought surprising for a relatively new hotel. Bedding was ok, but not great. I prefer firm mattresses. While this hotel is new, I thought the mattresses too soft for my liking. Fortunately, I had asked for a mattress topper which they provided. Housekeeping was inconsistent, to be honest. Also, the evening turndown service was quite atrocious - the staff did not remove the used towels on the bathtub, but they removed a half finished bottle of champagne which we had bought! I suspect the staff simply wanted to go home asap. So that was very disappointing. Breakfast was comprehensive, but the quality of food was just average. Rather limited selection of fresh fruits. This hotel is expensive, though. At about a thousand euros per night for the suite with breakfast included. So to me, while I did like the suite I was assigned to, the service was a let down. Team Taschenbergpalais, Owner at Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden, responded to this review Dear Mr. JasonC,Thank you for taking the time to share your impressions with us after your stay. Number 1 in Service

    rating18 Dec 2025

One of the better Kempinski Hotels in Germany. From car valet service, check in experience, nice room, great breakfast, unique cabin fondue restaurant in courtyard and great location close to historical sites and Christmas Markets. The room had comfortable king size bed, pillows were too soft, heater did not set correctly but we did have some heat. The room itself was good size and no complaints at all. Team Taschenbergpalais, Owner at Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden, responded to this review Dear DCPlanet, thank you very much for your kind review of Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden. We are delighted that you had a pleasant stay and that you remember our service, the restaurants, and the rooms so positively. We are already looking forward to your next visit and wish you all the best until then.Best regards,Marten SchwassManaging Director
