  Hold Up! Wait a minute! Something ain't right!

  Ok firstly we have been staying at this hotel about 9 years usually twice a year for one night at a time for a business stay over before heading to Dortmund.Have given this a 5 star review but there's good and bad but I have to be fair.Firstly - the lifts are shocking, tiny and questionable if it works. But upgrading them this summer I believe.Outside the front, looks like a dump and usually messy but mostly that is Dusseldorf and the area.So inside and the main reception area, staff always friendly. Place is very warm and most importantly, beer is cold and the place is very clean.Rooms - outside of advertising the stay as ' experience staying in a room like a prison but being able to leave the next day'. Get past the metal beds and small bathrooms, the experience here is the beds. Beds are very comfortable, can't beat an A+O pillow and bed cover. Have had some of the nicest sleeps away from home in an A+O. Is it the place to bring the wife or girlfriend who likes the finer things in life and hotels, not unless you want a divorce but if your looking for a budget stay, very clean and very comfortable then A+O is a great spot. I'm sure those into the spicy side will find the metal beds handy 🤣 but for 4 of us on a business stay over, stayed this time for 1 night, €72 all in.

  The accommodation itself was quite good, when we first got there we were happy with how it looked. But the problems with the staff started already at check-in. There had been some misunderstanding with the booking from one of the parties, which meant that we needed to book an extra night. Since it was not possible to see whether it was us or the accommodation that had made the mistake, we should reasonably have been offered some kind of discount for the extra night since it was unclear who had made the mistake. Instead we were met with a condescending reception, and were also told after talking to other guests that we paid a higher price for the extra night than other guests had to pay. We then decided not to spend any time at the accommodation, and spent our time out in town. When we come back at night and are about to go to bed, there is a knock on the door. At first we thought it was other guests who wanted to mess around, so we didn't open the door at first. But it kept knocking so we finally opened the door. Then staff stood there saying that we had harassed other guests and behaved badly. They forced us to leave the accommodation immediately in the middle of the night, and we had to arrange new accommodation for around 250 euros plus taxi to get there. In fact, we hadn't even spent any time at the accommodation at all, so it's a mystery to us why we were accused of bad behaviour. We were thrown out in the middle of the night without having done anything.If we could have given an even lower rating, we would have. Never again a&o Dusseldorf Hauptbahnhof!

  Cheapish but poor quality, 20 euro parking, lots of road and human noise, quite grime!

  Unless you're really and I mean REALLY on a budget don't go. The list is endless. Needs a total refurb, road outside very busy til 3-4am. Youre better than this place. Lots of Traffic Noise and Human (Inhuman) Noise. 20 euros to park.........

  Not at the Hauptbahnhof, and the hygienic situation is not good – IMO overpriced

  Positive • I booked 1 bunk bed in a 6 bed room – room was huge (approx.. 100 sqm) and only 6 beds …. 2 toilets, 1 shower with 2 cabins – but the feeling was like a huge ballroom … • Room was air conditioned (since it was a hot weekend – this was really good) and quiet• Friendly personnel• Location was ok ... public transport is nearbyNegative• It is not at the Hauptbahnhof (train station) .. it is a 15 minutes walk to the hostel• I was not feeling comfortable in the room (see above)• Room had no windows …. just a roof well were some day light was coming in• Hygienic situation: toilet was ok, but the shower cabins were dirty and full of mildew – disgusting!

  Good experience for such a cheap price

  So overall it was a pretty good location, the staff were nice, and the beds did the job. Public transport is pretty accessible from where the hotel is. However there could’ve been sockets next to the beds instead of just usb ports. Might just be an me issue as I only use usb-c cables but there was a lack of foresight there. The bed wasn’t made when I arrived which you had to do yourself. That’s really minimum effort. There was a cage to put your bag in and secure with a padlock but it’s not secured to the building so someone could pick that up and walk out with it. But overall it did a good job and I enjoyed it. The bathroom was tiny and the shower really should have been updated. Doesn’t look like it was cleaned very thoroughly.
