  Very poor internet, especially from iPad , would not load pop up to accept wifi. Extremely frustrating, stay was in November 2024.   How much does a smile cost?

  I stayed at this hotel for 2 days in May 2024. Modern, spotlessly clean, in a very good location (550 meters from the train station, 6-7 minutes walk and about 12 minutes from the center of Essen), the rooms are spacious, the breakfast was adequate and the quality of the soundproofing both inside and outside was excellent. Overall a very good hotel...but...how much does a smile cost? And I am referring to the senior employee of the front desk on Monday 20 and Wednesday 22 May. The response that she had with the quests was borderline rude, there was no greeting, not even a single word and when she ended the (personal) phone call she did, she just looked at us. She didn't even talk to us, nothing. As many times during our stay as we entered or left the hotel and spoke to her (good morning, etc.) we didn't get any response as if we were invisible. What can I say?   Very good hotel.   Good hotel with basic amenities

  Good staff, good location with train station nearby with eateries such as McDonalds. Room has basic amenities. The only thing missing is coffee cups or spoons to make coffee within the room and kettle should be included as a basic amenities too for hot water.

  Wow. What a trip that was to the Essen Spiel convention. And what an excellent hotel we have had the luck of booking a room into. Everything was top notch.We were given a room on the second floor, right across the elevator, in room 226. That was indeed super convenient, since for soundproofing, the windows were always shut, and I'm a smoker, so it made my outside trip to the smoking area easy.Everything in the room was where it should be. Plenty of sockets to plug our electronics in, a desk to put our convention stuff on and make our plans for the following day. Water pressure was spot on in the shower, all-in-one soap was naturally provided in a dispenser and filled daily.Room cleaning was done super meticulously in the morning and the cleaning people were nice and attentive when we happened to stumble upon them.All the staff we ran across were super nice and kind, even though we were always bugging them with annoying and trivial matters. The evening shift at the bar and reception really tried their best to satisfy our bothering demands. Hats off to them for putting up with us. I feel that we may have indeed tested their patience's limits. Despite all our best - or worst - but unintended in honesty - efforts to piss them off, they didn't even lose their smile. Great job, everyone!The cherry on top was the hotel's decision to open up a big room full of tables and chairs for the Spiel attendees to pass the night once the exhibition day was over. Really thoughtful and it's one of those small details that win people over. I'm looking forward to returning to the convention next year, and I'm sure I will be booking a room in this hotel alongside my plane and convention tickets.Keep it up, GHOTEL!
