  Mercure hotel in Hamburg, Germany

  Out room was nice and quiet and had a shipping container decor referencing the port of Hamburg long history of marine commerce. The windows did a good job of keeping the outdoor noise out. The bathroom size was good and was clean, and we liked the toiletry products. Check in and check out was quick. The hotel is about 30 euro away from the cruise terminal by taxi and 10 from the central rail station.

  Good located hotel in Hamburg

  This hotel was incredibly comfortable, with a great breakfast that had plenty of options. The location is convenient, making it easy to reach the city centre and other important points of the city.   Decent hotel that has a mosquito problem

  Booked this hotel based on pictures that show the rooms overlooking the water, when in fact 50% of the rooms overlook an apartment block and parking lot, including ours. The location is a bit out of the way, but a 20 minute walk puts you in the heart of Hamburg which is convenient enough. We chose this particular place because it did have parking available, and at a reasonable cost (25 euros a night). The breakfast was included with the room, and was pretty good. We enjoyed the nautical theme of the hotel, which is fitting enough given that Hamburg has such a great maritime history. The linens are all very nice, and there is a fridge in the room that is like a mini-shipping container, which was pretty neat. The downside is that the AC did not work in our room. The prior occupants had obviously kept the windows open and unfortunately let in some mosquitoes, who had quite a feast on me in particular, leaving me with 15 (count 'em 15!) bites. Apparently the German mozzies like the taste of American flesh. I mentioned it to the staff and they did some abatement, so the second night was fine although the AC still didn't work properly. They managed to remove the car parking charges from my room, but it definitely put a damper on our trip with so many bites causing distress for the rest of our trip. This is the primary reason why they are not worthy of a higher rating. Overall, this is a good hotel, with a nice bar and restaurant that serves good food, but I think next time around we would likely choose some place closer in. Had I known the standards of Hampton inns in Germany we would have stayed there as the one we stayed at in Kiel was excellent (see my other review). Another thing to keep in mind is that Hamburg is undergoing immense road work, so getting to this place was really a challenge, with lots of detours and odd routing... but thank goodness for Apple Maps that got us there without any issues.   Not what I expected

  Very average. Not worth the price in my opinion.Location is ok. Industrial area with no many places to eat or go on evenings. I personally needed a taxi in and out a couple of times a day.Pictures on website shows rooms with kettle. Ours didn’t. We asked but none were provided. Aircon don’t really do much. Temp is pre set and you cannot make it cooler if want. I have struggled with the heat in the room.Breakfast is not the best but ok.Rude attendant on breakfast room and bar. She’s not polite and shouts when you ask a question.Would I go back? I don’t think so. Food good on the restaurant!
