Great location, decent apartments
08 Oct 2011
We stayed here from September 21st to October 5th.. The site consists of two properties - the hotel and the studios. We stayed in the studios, on the first floor up (room 26, it has two balconies). The cleanlines was not outstanding, but plenty good enough for a holiday. The cleaners came twice a week. The view is unbeatable, with the beach right in front of you. The studios face south, so we saw the sun rise over the mountains to the east every morning, and it stayed with us until it set behind the mountains to the west. The various studios are owned by different people, so I can't say that they are all the same, but ours (owned by a chap called Aristos) was fine. We had a wonderful holiday.

Great holiday, decent apartments
13 Sept 2011
Stayed here for the first 10days of September with my girlfriend. The studios are, as advertised between pefkos and lardos. The room was clean, basic and a decent size. The balcony was huge and we ate overlooking the sea most nights. A lot of the reviews here focus on the bad service: it's not bad service it's just more laid back- like the rest of Greece everyone's not in a rush! The pool and pool bar along with the location were the best bits. We hired a car so the location was perfect: close enough to the beach, sights etc but far enough out of town to get some peace and relaxation. The weather was hot 42c+ some days and we didn't see a cloud the whole time we were there. Overall I'd say the apartments were what we expected- no frills but clean and well equipped.

Not taken sufficient care of 2* hotel/apartments
11 Sept 2011
I stayed at this property (in a 2-room apartment) for 1 week in August 2011 with my wife and son.I would say that the studios/apartments in this hotel are so different in quality and location from each other that they may range from awful to reasonable (so do the reviews here). When we arrived the apartment that was assigned to us 2 weeks in advance happened to be damages by some flood (?)so we had to spend 1 night in another one. Ground floor, tiny apartment with the leaks in the bathroom, no balcony, etc. If we had to spent our vacation there - the rating would be 1 ("Terrible").But we were lucky and got the good apartment (#65) the next day. It had 2 rooms - master bedroom and the second room with 2 beds, a small hall, tiny bathroom and 2(!) balconies - one in each room, facing 2 opposite sides of the building. See my photos. Some datails regarding this property:1. The apartment is not exactly the apartment. You are not able to cook there - there is absolitely no cookware or tableware, no forks or knives - nothing but 3 glasses (for 4 persons). They say the hotplate doesn't work either. And - there is no place to sit at the table - the table itself is in the tiny hall where there is not enough place for 3 peolpe standing. The rooms have no tables nor enough chairs.2. The bathroom is so tiny that if you are sitting on the toilet sink your face will be in the washbowl. When you take a shower there is not enough space to wipe yourself with the towel, it's better to go to the hall or to the room to do this.3. The air conditioner is only in 1 room so the other one stays hot and impossible to sleep in. Fortunately -->4. We had 2 balconies and it was great, though I assume only 4 or 6 apartments have this. The other 12 or 14 have 1 balcony and I suppose not even a window in the second room. Look at the building photos - the 1st balcony is at the pool side (all the apartments) and the other one - at the entrance, street side - and there are only a few balconies there - 2 or 3 on the left side and 2 on the right side. The balconies in the center part are just the open hall with the doors to the apartments.By the way - the big building has apartments (18), the small one - studios (9).5. Breakfast is awful - 1 choice of cheap ham, 1 choice of cheap cheese, cold canned sausages, cold pieces of omlette or cold boiled eggs, tomatos, 1 choice of cake, jam. Cheap and tasteless coffee from some cardboard box with concentrate, tasteless tea from cheapest teabags. But the worst thing is bread - buns kept in the refrigerator (for months, I think) absolutely tasteless and hard. We had to buy bread in the supermarket and bring it to breakfast with us. The good thing is you consume this "food" in the beach taverna facing the sea.6. The place itself is nice - Lothiarika beach, but the entrance to the sea (seabed) in front of the hotel is bad - big stones with sharp edges, not suitable to enter the sea and swim. But 50-100-200 meters to the right the beach is better and it is possible to enter the sea and swim there. There are more sunbeds with umbrellas there, watersports, many people. The beach in front of the hotel is more deserted but the sundeds/umbrellas are free (to everyone, nobody cares !)7. There are some 4-5 tavernas nearby but it's better to take a bus to Pefkos (1.6 Euro, 5 minutes ride, a bus goes every 30-60 minutes) and spend the evening there - lots of restaurants, shops, tavernas...Our overall impression was good (except for the breakfast) - good location, reasonably clean, nice staff. But it looks like nobody really takes care of the property and they use it untill it goes to pieces. By the way - the towels and sheets were never changed during the whole week.It may be a possible choice if the price is good enough. As for us - we chose this hotel because it had 2 room apartments. The same apartment in a better 3-4* hotel would cost 2-3 times more. But be aware - you never know which exactly apartment/studio will you get and may be satisfied or completely disappointed.

Perfect location, shabby apartments
30 Aug 2011
Flora Studios are situated at Lothiarika Beach, between Pefkos and Lardos. The actual advert says that they are in Pefkos, however, Pefkos is about a half an hour walk or ten minutes by taxi. These apartments are actually owned by two different people. Unfortunately the apartments on the second floor are owned by a guy who is never around. The room was small, fridge was dirty and needed de-frosting. The cooking facilities were a waste of time and the bathroom in bad condition. Room was cleaned once a week, not that you could tell. Beds were not changed at all, and towels only once. There is air conditioning which costs ten euros per day but you have to contact the owner by phone if you want this, which was pretty impossible. As the temperature was around eighty degrees at night the air con is an absolute must. The Flora Beach Hotel right next door to the Studios was far superior and did have a fabulous pool which was very quiet. Guests at the Studios are allowed to use this. There is also a bar by the pool and a Taverna which serves excellent food.Although the Studios were a big let down, the location more than made up for it. Right on the beach with free use of the sunbeds. The beach is a shingle beach and the sea quite deep, so it is better to stay by the pool. The area is perfect for couples but not so much for anyone with young children as the Resort is very quiet. There are some fabulous places to eat and drink and entertainment a few nights a week such as a Greek Night every Thursday and a fabulous Band on a Tuesday. Only six euros in a taxi to Pefkos which is great for a night out, lots of restaurants and bars. The glass bottom boat trip is a must.Even though the apartments were not great, everything else was fabulous, and if you want a peaceful, relaxing holiday then this is the place to go. We would definately go to this area again but stay at the Flora Beach Hotel next door the next time. Weather in August was fantastic. Not a cloud in the sky the whole week.

Do NOT book with FLORA
10 Aug 2011
Ok where do I Start? What a pile of crap this turned out to be totally ruined our holiday. Ok so you pay like 70 Euro taxi from air port and then when you get there either no reception staff or the ones there is severely impaired. The rooms are dirty, smelly of wee, seriously lacking in self catering facilities. Broken plugs everywhere dangerous, pathetic amount of towels dont even think about toiletries or loo roll, the plates & glasses were all filthy there was the most disgusting scourer I have ever seen. Well we tried to ask for some help several times from the reception and then from management and everybody said it was nothing to do with them. a serious waste of money you book cheap thinking its going to be fine because you will hardly be there but the beds smelt bad, it is such an unhappy time we had to pay several hundred extra just to get our second week somewhere happier and more civilized. Book if you want but just remember I told you so. [...] that!!!!!!!
