What an amazing time we had at Hotel La Vue d’Or in Sorrento! The staff are SO friendly and helpful, always making effort to start a conversation. We stayed half board and the food options in the evening were varied and delicious with generous portions. Breakfast buffet also fantastic (with lovely pastries). The bar has a wide selection of drinks, all reasonably priced with a good choice of cocktails and very nice local wine. The hotel itself is very clean and homely with an authentic Italian feel. The views are STUNNING; we couldn’t believe our luck when we woke up the first morning. Make use of the hourly shuttle bus, an absolute gem for a hotel up in the mountains and very reliable. Sorrento is a beautiful place to stay. Cannot recommend La Vue d’Or enough! PS look out for the beautiful donkey who hangs out behind the pool terrace!

    Amazing views, food was disappointing

    rating19 Oct 2025

The views of Mount Vesuvius and the surrounding area are amazing, sitting on the terrace or balcony and watching the sunset was pretty magical. As mentioned by other reviews, we do feel like the food was lacking. We had meals out in and around Sorrento which were fantastic, but unfortunately the hotel food was a let down in comparison.I only speak for the inclusive meals, it seemed if you weren’t half board you got to pick from a separate menu. It felt very school dinner-esque, one main meat/fish with a side of veg/potatoes. It felt like there was a lack of care and attention at times, for example one night we ordered potato soufflĂ© which came with a side of potatoes? The room was clean with great views and the shower was good - the only things we missed was having a full length mirror and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel does feel a little dated in parts, whether you consider this charming or requiring modernisation is down to personal preference I guess. The free shuttle was very useful for getting down to Sorrento, although one day we did have to stand because it was so busy (it stops at a few hotels) - just something to bear in mind. The pool is also unheated so something to keep in mind if you’re going later in the season, as the water was very cold when we were there.Being out of the centre of Sorrento does mean you are more reliant on the food offered by the hotel, which unfortunately wasn’t great. If you’re happy travelling into Sorrento to eat and want to prioritise peace and views over convenience, then I think this hotel would be a good choice.

    Lovely, quiet hotel

    rating11 Oct 2025

When we arrived we were unsure this hotel was for us, due to it's location from the centre of Sorrento & the fact there is nowhere to walk nearby. How wrong we were. After using the reliable shuttlebus down to Sorrento & spending time there, we soon realised we were in the right place.Sorrento centre is seriously busy & only suited us for a few hours at a time, then back to the peace & quiet of the hotel. From the minute we arrived, the staff were amazing, polite & very helpful.Everyone had a smile and a few words with you, which means so much. The hotel is traditional but has been sympathetically modernised. Our room had a side sea view with amazing views & regular sightings of the donkey who lived nearby. We had a walkin rainfall shower with handheld option. Great pressure & plenty of hot water. I was aware there were no teamaking facilities, so we took our own.Despite some negative comments, we enjoyed the food & found portion sizes just fine. Breakfast was a buffet with plenty of options, dinner was served.Bar area was comfortable, comfy sofas, where we spent time chatting with other guests. Bar prices were reasonable. We booked 2 trips through the hotel. A few euro's more expensive but we were collected & dropped off at the hotel, so much easier. All in all we had a great holiday & would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Friendly and welcoming in a stunning location

    rating08 Oct 2025

A family run hotel with real family values, and in such a stunning location! We received such a warm welcome throughout our stay. You can really relax here. We stayed half board, breakfast was fantastic, buffet style, and then there was always something to tempt us on the evening menu. Tea, coffee and drinks from the bar were reasonably priced and served with a smile in the comfortable lounge area. Every meal was delicious and plentiful. Our room was cool and comfortable and spotlessly clean, as was the rest of the hotel. Our only slight criticism would be a lack of storage space, with nowhere really out of the way to put the cases, but definitely not an insurmountable problem, nor one which affected our holiday in any way. We had a bath with a shower over which was great, powerful and always plentiful hot water. Unusually there was little noise from adjoining rooms or the corridor, a nice change. The shuttle bus to Sorrento was great, although it was also a pleasant walk down following the directions given by reception. We really felt we had the best of both worlds, staying up on the mountain with the stunning views but with easy access to Sorrento until late in the evening. We can’t wait to go back to this hotel.
