    This property is advertised as being in Akrotiri with great views. We found neither. Akrotiri is a 25 minute walk on a dangerous road with no pavement. You can pick up a quieter track halfway down though.On arrival we checked in but were not offered the traditional welcome. We had a standard room and a superior room. Room 8 is a superior room which is small with very little storage, the A/C was not working but was fixed. Advertised was a free mini bar which was suppose to have a bottle of water. It was empty. Our view was over a building site which was never mentioned. There was a smell of drains. On leaving the room you have to put a label on the door each day to get the room attended to. We stupidly forgot one day so nothing was done. Not even emptying the toilet paper bin.I asked to speak to the manager but they were not available, but a member of staff was able to change rooms, to room 10, which is slightly larger with no view of the building site, and gave us a free drink in lieu of our traditional welcome.Breakfast is okay, but not something to look forward to. The good news is that there are two good restaurants each side. You definitely need a car or some form of transport to get around.I was in Parga 3 months ago in a similar priced hotel, I could not fault that hotel and the majority of guests were returning. I will not be on this occasion.On checking out I did flag up with reception that I had to turn the fridge off in room 10 each night as it made a funny noise. I paid our bill and it was very kindly rounded up. Our daughter had the standard room overlooking the pool and sunset. I would recommended that side of the hotel.I would like to thank Maria and Konstantina for their excellent service.

    The hotel is in a beautiful location. The views are stunning. We had a pool view room with balcony from which the sunset could be viewed. The hotel was clean and staff helpful. It is about 25 minutes walk into Akrotiri. If using google maps best to take the one that turns right off the busy main road even though it is a minute longer. There are stairs for part of the way and it is away from the traffic. Downhill so allow longer for walking back. The bus route goes from there. Breakfast was good but we wouldn’t go half board again. We are used to having a set menu for half board but have never experienced one with no choice at all. Also if you have specific dietary needs make sure to let the hotel know and check they understand. As a vegetarian I can usually find something on the menu but when I requested vegetarian food I was sometimes given fish. Lots of sun beds and very good poolside service. Be careful on the paths as uneven in places.

    All of the staff at Caldera Romantica were wonderful! From the breakfast staff to the pool bar servers, everyone was very pleasant. After an error on our part of the reservation, the hotel manager went above and beyond helping us fix everything and get the room we hoped for. Konstantina was an absolute gem! She gave us wonderful recommendations, most of which were the highlights of our trip! Staying in Akrotiri was perfect for us as we had a car and enjoyed being outside of the busier parts of Santorini.

    Spent 3 nights here with my Husband and nothing is too much trouble. We have experienced excellent customer service before but this was next level. We were very well looked after.The hotel is small and ideal for a restful break. There was always room to sunbathe round the pool. There is an excellent drinks and food service by the pool, with a small indoor area by the bar should you wish to eat inside. The hotel also has a restaurant service in the evening with a small menu, but they prefer if you can book and order ahead. I recommend doing this as the food was excellent. The breakfast buffet is in the restaurant area. The food at breakfast varies and there is something for everyone. If you like a decent cuppa, I would recommend bringing your own teabags. The views at breakfast and at any of the nearby restaurants are stunning.We had a garden view room, which faces the road but you couldn’t hear it. It was a spacious room with its own balcony, sofa, tv, fridge, bathroom and hairdryer. It also had a small key safe. I found the fridge noisier than the air conditioner. The bathroom was small with a small shower but it did the job. The location was very remote, that’s why we chose it. There is a restaurant a few mins walk each side of the hotel and whichever restaurant you choose, the views and the sunsets are incredible. If you want to explore more of Santorini, taxis are expensive. It will cost €15 each way to get down the hill to the village, approximately 1.7 km away and €40 to get to Thira. There is a bus stop in the village. The bus leaves from the bus stop and goes to Thira every 30 mins for €1.80. We walked down to the village and caught the bus and got a taxi back up . Although it’s a down hill walk, it’s not easy as there are not many footpaths. The view makes it worth it though. Taxis and buses are cash only. There is an ATM in the village and lots of lovely restaurants. All restaurants we tried accepts card payments. The staff at the hotel made us feel incredibly welcome and at home. We were given their WhatsApp number so they could book us a taxi home when we were out, brought us wine for drinks on the balcony and the service by the pool was excellent. Plenty of food and drinks were provided with great conversation and a smile. I highly recommended this hotel if you want a quiet break.

    It seems odd to describe this as a hotel, it is more akin to being in family home. Nothing was too much trouble, everyone was warm & kind. It is hard to do justice to the way in which each guest is treated. I suppose I should cover the negatives.... the bed was too soft for me, and not being able to leave the air con on was a pain. The hotel is a little isolated, top of a hill with no real transport & the paths leave something to be desired. I would list this as a negative but we went for a break so this was just what we wanted.Food wise the breakfast is good, reasonably varied in range & different everyday. The resturant is booking only in the evening which is a shame as the food was excellent. Lunch menus are available until 5 & offer the option to eat by the pool.The room itself was spacious & aside from the HC noise quiet enough. The showers & bathroom in general are a little small but unless you plan on doing something more than showering in there that is not much of an issue.My last word would be the view. It is stunning, the sunset in particular.If you want peaceful break, surrounded by kind,warm people then this is the place to go.
