    Great stay!

    rating04 Feb 2026

We had a great 2 weeks stay at the Westin Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. The room is fabulous, amazing view over looking the city & harbor. Location is excellent, walking distance to most touristy places. 4 minutes walk to the bus stop., train stop just 9 minutes walk.Front desk receptionists can use some improvement. Staffers often seem cold & unapproachable! Housekeeping staff sometimes did not replenish, we took the tissue box and place it on our nightstand as we needed to use it at night, and for an entire week, they didn’t put a new box in the bathroom.Breakfast is the highlight of the day! Tons of choices, with wide variety of breads, pastries, freshly prepared eggs, fish, salad, yogurt, fresh fruits and drinks! Our server Gianmarco who is there most days is very polite, friendly & helpful. Tetiana & Septia always greeted us with a warm smile. The Westin Heavenly Spa is awesome! It has 2 steam rooms & 2 Saunas, each has different temperature. They also offer a weekly yoga class. Guest experience manager Katharina is the best! She went above & beyond to get us the Chocolate we like. She also try to get us an upgraded room that suits our needs. Unfortunately, the upgrade was not offered to us until 2 days before our departure. Regardless, we appreciate her efforts.

Incredible Views, but Not the Luxury Experience We Expected

    rating14 Dec 2025

We stayed for one night at The Westin Hamburg Elbphilharmonie after visiting friends in the city. We wanted to treat ourselves and chose this hotel specifically for the “luxury” experience and the iconic building. We booked a room with a view on the 16th floor, and the view really was spectacular. Waking up to the city skyline, especially with the view from the bed and the bathtub, was absolutely beautiful and without doubt the highlight of our stay. That said, I expected much more from a hotel of this reputation and price point. The check-in experience was surprisingly bland and felt no different from a budget hotel. The reception staff were not particularly warm or welcoming, and the whole interaction felt rushed and impersonal. Unfortunately, it gave the impression that we were being judged based on how we looked. We were travelling and dressed comfortably, but that should never matter, especially in a hotel that presents itself as luxury. The room itself was fine, but aside from the view, it didn’t feel luxurious. The design felt quite ordinary, and the layout was a bit odd, particularly the lamp placed awkwardly in the middle of the room. Nothing was wrong as such, but nothing stood out either. The building itself is incredible, and the views are genuinely unforgettable. I would recommend staying here for the experience of the Elbphilharmonie and the scenery alone. However, if you’re looking for true luxury service and atmosphere, this hotel doesn’t quite deliver. Katharina Müller, Guest Services / Front Office at The Westin Hamburg Elbphilharmonie, responded to this review Dear Matthias Bourne, Thank you very much for sharing your feedback with us – we truly appreciate it.We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the spectacular view from your room; waking up to the city skyline is indeed one of the highlights of our location. At the same time, we sincerely apologize for the impersonal check-in experience you described. This does not reflect the level of warmth and hospitality we strive to provide. Please be assured that we are taking your comments seriously and will use them as an opportunity to further train our team to ensure every guest feels genuinely welcomed, regardless of circumstances. Your observations are invaluable to us as we continuously work to improve our service. We hope to have the chance to welcome you back and provide the luxury experience you expected. Warm regards, Your The Westin Hamburg Guest Experience Team

A pleasant stay marred onky by some sickly sweet scent in the lobby

    rating14 Aug 2025

Our arrival by car would have been far easier if there had been either better signage indicating where we might unload our vehicle or had there been a bellhop. It was easy to maneuver through the garage and park, a novelty for many European garages. Of course, we did not move the car again until the day we left. We enjoyed our well furnished, comfortable room with its novel porthole window that allowed us to have fresh air. I also appreciated that the windows had been treated to reduce bird impacts (and deaths). The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. We found the bar with its great views to be far too noisy much of the time. Access to the performing center was great. There are super restaurants within walking distance. The only real downside was the unpleasant intense soap-like odor being pumped into the lobby near the elevators. I tried to hold my breath because it caused my allergies to flair up, resulting in a headache. I was ecstatic one day to see that someone had unplugged the machine.

    Brilliant views and central location

    rating28 May 2025

Excellent - nothing left to wish for. Brilliant location, superb views, staff extremely helpful. We changed the room and got a free upgrade overlooking port and city. Parking on site was available - not cheap - but for the location okay. The swimming pool had a good length and the gym was well equipped. Breakfast was a buffet with good choices.
