    Room unacceptable for price

    rating04 Oct 2025

Apologies for the delay in reviewing this Hotel. In August 2023 my family and I stayed at The Irida View, in Skiathos for 10 nights. We were put in room 16. We spoke to the Manager and Receptionist immediately to communicate that the accommodation was unsatisfactory. The main bedroom had no external window or private balcony or indeed any balcony at all. The rooms were not decorated in a contemporary style and we did not have an uninterrupted sea view. We paid l a lot of money for the privilege. We asked to move to an alternative room however were told this was not possible as all accommodation in the entire Philian Group on Skiathos was fully booked for the duration of our stay.We booked our holiday based on the photographs provided by yhe Hotel’s marketing, instagram and social media accounts. The photos are wonderful and show rooms with doors opening onto private balconies. Outside our room was a terrace next to a cupboard used daily by cleaners. All guests and staff of the hotel had to pass by this terrace every time they entered or left the hotel. We also had other issues with the room (photos available)Cleaning equipment was left on our terrace until we asked for it to be removed.Broken outside light on arrival, which we were told would be fixed the next day and remained broken for the duration of our stay.Leaking open ended air-conditioning pipe which spilled onto the terrace. An engineer was called who placed the pipe into a plastic bottle. We had to empty this bottle several times a day and it remained unfixed for the duration of our stay.Opened ended copper tail pipes in bathroom.Bathroom in need of full upgrade. The shower only partially worked.Overspill pipe from private balconies above would spill onto the terrace when wet clothes/towels were left out by guests in the upper level rooms. The terrace was dirty and unclean when we arrived. The Reservations Manager of Philian was in communication with us. She was aware of how disappointed and upset we were. We feel we were mis-sold the holiday, due to the room not being as advertised, along with the issues outlined. We had subsequent correspondence with the Philian Hotel group Reservations Manager who when asked if we could have the direct email of the CEO of Philian Hotels Makis Koukoulakis she refused. We then tried via LinkedIn to contact him but our direct message was ignoredTo be balanced we were offered feee water for the room and free taxis and whilst this was appreciated it did not in any way compensate for the disappointment of our expectations from this hotel or the price we paid.As a very important side note the Staff here were beyond excellent. In particular Alexandra ..the most exceptional individual and representative of the Hotel. She absolutely held up the Hotel and she went beyond all expectations. I’m sure the Philian group values her…she is the biggest attribute to this Hotel.

Great hotel with some small improvements!

    rating29 Sept 2025

First impressions were good and immediately you get an idea that it is a small hotel. The outdoor areas were neat and tidy however the sun loungers could have done with a bit of a paint touch up. The room had an amazing view - I was in room 7 and I had a great view of the sea. The bed was very comfortable and the cleaners did a good job of tidying/cleaning the room each day. My only criticism for the room was that the bathroom silicone/trim needed some tlc in the shower and the shower head pointed towards the wall. It was no big deal having to shower holding the shower head but would have been easier if I didn’t need to do it. Breakfast was nice, a lot of sweet options although you had the same options everyday which did get a bit boring. The bar food and drinks were better. The staff were all friendly especially the staff member with brown curly hair, apologies I cannot remember her name. I think she may have been Irish but spoke fluent Greek. She was very friendly and helpful with recommendations - nothing was too much trouble. My main criticism for the hotel would be that I was awoken before 8am by crashing and banging in the walkway outside my room and the cleaners/staff talking at a very high volume every morning. I have no idea what caused all the noise in the morning but me and my family found it very inconsiderate especially when you want to relax without an alarm on holiday. I also found the cleaners to be quite itchy to get into your room to clean it each day and on one occasion they knocked on my door when I wasn’t quite ready to leave my room. I presume they just want the early finish. Overall, the hotel did the job and there are a lot of good points to it. For info, it took us about 15/20 mins to walk into Skiathos town. Small improvements like TLC on fixtures/fittings, the noise reduction in a morning and more variety at breakfast would make it a great hotel. Philian Hotels Team, General Manager at Irida Aegean View Skiathos, responded to this review Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review of your stay with us. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the beautiful sea view from your room, the comfort of the bed, and the friendliness of our staff. We truly appreciate your constructive feedback regarding the sun loungers, shower fittings, and breakfast variety. These are helpful insights, and we will certainly review these areas with our team to explore possible improvements. We're sincerely sorry for the early morning disturbances you experienced. Our goal is always to maintain a peaceful and relaxing environment, and we will look into the scheduling and communication of our housekeeping team to ensure more consideration is given to guests’ comfort and rest.Despite the small issues, we’re happy to know the overall experience was positive and that you found value in your stay. Your comments help us continue improving, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back and provide an even better experience next time. With appreciation,Philian Hotels & Resorts

    Dangerous hotel!!

    rating17 Sept 2025

Do not stay here if you value your life. This hotel clearly has had no investment in many years and tonight the air conditioning unit in the room next door caught fire at 2am. The reception is not manned through the night so guests were left to tackle the fire themselves with a fire extinguisher in the corridor. There is an out of hours number on the door of the hotel but the guy who answered was unhelpful at best and rude and aggressive at worst. Over an hour after the fire started, I’m writing this review whilst sat outside the hotel with still no one from the hotel coming out to check guests are alive! This hotel needs to be condemned - broken sun loungers, bathrooms that last had a re-fit about 40 years ago. The trip advisor reviews that are good have probably recognised the hotel’s ‘charm’. There’s no doubt staff like Catherine are doing their best but they are quite frankly polishing a turd. Philian Hotels Team, General Manager at Irida Aegean View Skiathos, responded to this review Τhank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are deeply sorry to hear about the distressing incident you described during your stay. The safety and well-being of our guests is our highest priority, and we take your concerns very seriously. We sincerely apologize for the fire incident and the response you received. Please rest assured that all necessary safety measures were promptly taken by the hotel. The fire department and our maintenance team arrived as quickly as possible. The guests in the affected room were relocated, and all safety protocols were strictly followed. We appreciate your recognition of Catherine and the efforts of our staff during this difficult situation. We understand your disappointment and the impact this has had on your stay. This was an unprecedented situation for us as well, as something like this has never happened before.Thank you again for bringing this to our attention. We hope to restore your trust in us in the future. With αppreciation,

    Tired, dated hotel needing TLC

    rating16 Sept 2025

Firstly, on a positive note the hotel staff were fantastic. This was the saving grace for this hotel. They were extremely helpul, always positive and friendly. They were very knowledgeable and informative. Sadly though the hotel is run down, dated and need of many repairs. It looks like it's been neglected in many areas. There was a sign outside our room indicating an emergency exit route. There is no way even a fit and active person could have used this route. It has the potential to be a lovely hotel. The owners - Philian Hotels and Resorts should feel embarrassed. Philian Hotels Team, General Manager at Irida Aegean View Skiathos, responded to this review Thank you so much for sharing your review with us. We are pleased to hear that our staff made a positive impact on your stay through their helpfulness and friendly service. Our team always strives to provide warm and knowledgeable support to all our guests. However, we sincerely regret that the condition of the hotel did not meet your expectations. Your comments regarding the need for repairs and maintenance, as well as the emergency exit route, are taken very seriously. We appreciate your honesty and hope that we may have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future to show you the improvements we are committed to making. With appreciation,

    Happy place

    rating13 Sept 2025

This year was our second visit to Skiathos and the Iridea. This hotel is amazing. The rooms are spacious and the views are breathtaking. Don’t let the slight hill put you off. The hotel is close to the beach and bus stop 6. There are plenty of tavernas within 5 mins walking. Skiathos town is roughly 20-30 minutes walk. The staff are simply just the best! The cleaning lady who seemed to be cleaning the rooms solo did such an amazing job. Zoe who was in charge of breakfast and lunches was always smiling and the choice and quality for breakfast was superb! My husband particularly enjoyed the pastries and the yogurt with cake!Nell who did the late shift was lovely and organised a take out pizza for us on our last evening! And last but by no means the least… Catherine… she is simply the most genuine and friendly person you could meet. Nothing is too much and she was a breath of fresh air. She supported myself and my husband throughout our holiday as our first grandchild arrived 10 weeks premature whilst we were there. Her genuine concern and smiles were the pick me up that we both needed. She is truly a huge asset to the hotel. I hope she will be still there when we next visit.
