  Decent 3star hotel with good location.Felt old and the lights in the reception was dark after 18. Service from the reception under all critic.

  Pros: the location is excellent. You are on a main streets that is devoted to foot traffic. Easy to get to all the sites, shops, bars. Supermarket is next door. Hotel is clean. Room set up is efficient. Small but I didn't feel particularly cramped. Bed is comfy. I was allowed early check-in, which was a definite plus. There is a café street level, though I found there were better choices elsewhere.Cons: Room lighting was extremely dim. Not sure if this is part of their "art force" or to hide the stamped concrete, but it was annoying and unnecessary. Bathroom floor is not graded properly so shower water extends out into the entire bathroom. My room was below street level/basement. The one large window does not open (stuffy) and is at the same level of a restaurant where diners are looking directly in on you. When I brought this up to management, they said it doesn't last for long, and that's what you get for booking a single. Ouch. Won't be staying there again.

  Wonderful hotel and location!

  Our last two nights in Iceland we stayed here and it was one of our favorites of the 6 hotels during our Iceland adventure. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was very comfortable as were the bed, pillows and shower. The location is the best, but you do have a challenge finding parking (and if you do find it, it isn't cheap until after 9 pm and before 9 am when it is free). Our room was above the basement restaurant, and it was very loud at night. I was surprised that closing the window cut out all of the noise, Would stay here again if I returned.

  The short version is that it is an excellent little hotel in the heart of Reykjavik, well-appointed in a Scandinavian minimalist style. The attached restaurant, The Bon, is simple and convenient for a quick bite or an after-dinner drink. The staff are superlative.The TL;DR version is that the staff is the real reason to stay at the hotel. I managed to lose my wallet, along with all my credit cards and ID, on a tour near the Arctic Circle. Returning to the hotel, I received a text from the police station informing me that German tourists had found and returned the wallet. This is where the excellent staff really impressed. A young woman from Spain was looking after the front desk (I believe her name was Patricia), kindly dialled the constabulary for me as we couldn't phone out (or speak Icelandic); her colleague, Reuben, offered to drive the "short" distance to the police station to pick it up. When we learned it was over three hours away, we declined, but we were obviously very appreciative. The barman at the Bon, Javier, learned of our situation, and he even bought me a drink! I have stayed in many hotels throughout my professional life and have never encountered this level of service. Go stay.

  Hotel Von was a lovely place to return to at the end of a day touring

  Bruno and his staff made us feel most welcome and did a fantastic job. We felt accommodated in every way and were very comfortable during our stay. Excellent food and expertly prepared cocktails that were nothing less than first rate were a great cap off to the day. Housekeeping was very good and kept our room clean and well stocked.
