    Absolute disaster - avoid it

    rating27 Jul 2024

Two years ago, we stayed in this hotel for two weeks, and even then it wasn't in the best condition - but it could be explained by the fact that COVID had just ended, and time was needed for renovation after the hard times, and the price was half what it is now. But since then, the condition of the rooms has only gotten worse, and one of our two rooms was in such a state that I can't understand how people with any conscience could think it's acceptable to house guests here and charge money for it. Judge for yourself from the photos: mold on the walls, mold on the ceiling, mold on the hangers in the closet, holes in the floor, holes in the sofa (and even without the holes it's impossible to sit on it - it has long needed repairs). The lawn on the terrace is constantly flooded with water - and on the last day I discovered that water was seeping into the room through the floor - my things and suitcase got wet! You step on the parquet and water squishes under your feet!By the end of the second day, after multiple demands and reminders from my side, the hotel manager graced us with his visit. All he could say was, "Sorry, we are very busy this season." How this relates to the condition of the hotel and whether he would be willing to accept apologies instead of money from me - the manager couldn't answer.I believe that the hotel management should be fired for incompetence. It is very sad to see how a beautiful building, obviously once built with love and care, is being so poorly managed.Don't encourage this irresponsible behavior with your money!

    Lovely hotel and sweetest staff

    rating16 Sept 2019

We stayed for 7 nights at the Anhera Suite in Ubud and we had a lovely time here. The hotel itself is very beautiful with private villas overlooking the Campuhan Ridge Walk in a very lush garden atmosphere. It is clear that the hotel is dated and could use some maintenance, but overall it didn’t bother us much. The biggest issue was humidity issues in the bathroom, causing mold in the bathroom. We had to change room as it was too excessive in the first room, however still present in the second room. Having lived in Asia, I know this is a general issue with a lot of the buildings in this humid weather, and they try their best to clean it, but poor knowledge of the issue seems to be the biggest problem. The breakfast was fine, the standard varied a bit from day to day, but it was ok. The biggest highlight is the staff - they were all so kind and welcoming and we really felt at home here. They did their outmost to make our stay as comfortable as possible and were very genuinely interested in our wellbeing and plans for the days.Thank you so much for a lovely stay to all the staff at Anhera Suite, Ubud!

Very old but some redeeming factors

    rating31 May 2019

The breakfast was exceptional and we liked that it was served to our room. The views were gorgeous, and in the evenings you could see Mt Batur on clear days! The spa bath in the room was excellent and the rooms were a great size. The accommodation was just a 15-minute walk from the centre of Ubud. The staff were very unhelpful and when organising taxis or transfers for us charged way more than the taxi rank just down the street. The rooms were old and needed a coat of paint, which would have been fine except for the rats which spent every night of our trip and some afternoons building nests and scampering around in the ceiling. Fortunately, they could not escape from the ceiling and into the room. Both pools were exceptionally dirty/unclean and had algae buildup, so we didn't feel comfortable swimming in them after the first time. The WiFi also blocked Netflix on our personal computers.

Once were beautiful suites, not anymore!

    rating12 Apr 2019

My partner and I here stayed for 3 nights in one of the villas and we were incredibly disappointed. We booked the suite after our villa cancelled on us last minute.Staff were very friendly on arrival.Heading to our suite, we noticed the pools were quite grungy and oddly we did not see one single guest during our whole stay. The view over the valley is beautiful but it doesn’t compensate for the state of the suites. Initially we were so excited about the jacuzzi and the view, it wasn’t until we sat down that we noticed all of the dampness, patchy paintwork and the dirtiness of the bathroom. These were once beautiful suites but are in need of serious renovations. On our second night, we noticed the air conditioning unit was making a loud popping noise as if a bare wire was hitting water. It was profusely leaking and when we shut it off the noise continued and smoke even started coming out. We then spoke with the security guard who was very helpful and rang the manager to have us moved to another suite. We felt very unsafe there at this point. A fire could have started while we slept.Unfortunately the new suite was far worse. It was incredibly damp and smelled bad. The toilet was loose off of the wall. The only person who ever spoke to us about moving rooms was the security guard. I found this ridiculous. Every time we went to reception, there was a different person there, usually young girls. No one ever apologized for the inconvenience or anything.Safe to say we had a terrible experience here. Renovations are required and the price is too high.

Overlook of valley in Ubud is sweet

    rating21 Mar 2019

This place is kind of an old Ubud feel to it for me. We stayed in Madeira. There’s lots of artwork that you can tell has been in their collection for a very long time. A huge sandalwood sculpture is the most impressive as you walk in the door. There were 100 stairs down to the second pool, so if you’re not good at stairs forget this place unless they can set you up upstairs (& you can ask for that). Loved the tub, didn’t have time to use it though, unfortunately. Slept well in the AC. One problem though was that the door wasn’t locking to the room, so hopefully they fixed that. Staff was kind and accommodating.
