    Hot and bothered

    rating05 Jul 2025

The airconditioning didnt work and they replaced it with a portable one that was so noisy we still couldn't get no sleep, the fridge wasn't working, they found another one that was old and making rattling noises. Very disappointed for a 5 star suite. The manager of Hotel San Carlo promised to refund some of our money but now refuses to. Thanks

Hotel has excellent situation to tram stop and they also sell tickets to tramClean and nice small Italian style hotel. Good parking place and breakfast. Hotel staff was excellent. Good tips how to navigate in Venezia and where is good to eat.

Great value for a pleasant stay

Great value hotel if you want a clean and comfortable base when visiting Venice, but are on a budget and don’t want to pay extra for frills. I had no issues with noise, shower, bed or air conditioning. My room was tidy and well-maintained, and the people working there were helpful. The breakfast options were fine, not too exciting but they had some nice pastries. As someone travelling alone who often got back late, the area was quiet and did not feel unsafe. Convenient travel links to the islands, as the tram stop is just around the corner. I stayed for several nights in May.

    Bad customer service

    rating12 Apr 2024

We stayed there for 2 nights. I like the fact that the location is very close to T1 tram stop that takes you to Venice. The room are small and the shower is tiny. The air conditioning doesn’t work at all. It was Wednesday around 10pm when I went down to the reception and told the staff about the air conditioning not working. He was so rude and said to me that "whichever country I came from, but in Italy no one use air-conditioning in April". He told me to open the window because that's what Italian do. I said to him that If I open the windows, I can hear the noises outside and I can't sleep properly. Then he said that the air-conditioning is not healthy and doesn't give fresh air. I asked him if he can check the air conditioning for me, so he came up with me to my room. As we walked up the stairs, he opened one of the window by the stairwell and pull my arms to the opened window and told me that "Feel the cool air from outside and you should open your windows". In Canada, pulling and grabbing someone arms can be considered as assault. I could have sued him for that. This staff is so rude. I was surprised the way he acted. I was just telling him that our air conditioning in the room was not working and he raised his voice and keep saying "Mama Mia". No customer service at all, rude and mean.I will definitely not recommend this hotel. If only I can give 0 star.

    Excellent Hotel

    rating24 May 2023

This is a reasonably priced hotel in a great location to easily travel into Venice on the tram. After seeing tourists with hotels in the centre of Venice dragging bags up and drown steps over canal bridges - this location was much better !!!!The hotel and the rooms are dated but very clean and our air con worked.Hair dryers are provided. There are no tea / coffee making facilities in the room. The receptionists were all very helpful and you can buy tickets for all public transport from them.Breakfast was 8 euros each and was basic but perfectly adequate and value for money.Travel to Venice takes about 10-15 minutes on the tram - the stop is called Musetta and the tram is number 1. Tickets are 3 euros return .Travelling from the airport was confusing initially- go through the arrivals hall then through the exit and there is a desk where you can buy a return bus ticket ( 15 euros) to the hotel. The bus ( number 15) stops 10 metres down the road from the hotel. The stop to get on the bus is just outside the airport exit doors. There are ticket machines inside the terminal but these were confusing so would suggest the help desk as above. You can buy a ticket for any public transport for 24 hours ( including the vaporetta to the islands) for 25 euros from the hotel reception- great value ! Take insect repellent… A great stay and would recommend anyone using this hotel .
