Haunted ruins of former resort make for interesting experience

    rating14 Sept 2019

I booked Sekar Nusa Villas after looking at their beautiful online photos and seeing their villas had private pools. They were also rated as a 4 star hotel... I will tell you right now if this hotel is 4 stars then I am actually a Tabby cat who has learnt to type online by watching human television. These villas are almost all completely run down. Not as in they need some work, I mean the roof has literally collapsed and plants are growing through the walls. Walking through the overgrown pathways between the villas reminds you of a B grade horror film from the 80s. I would guess up to 80% of the estate is completely abandoned and I think there was only one other couple staying there with us.To be fair the room they actually gave us wasn't too bad. The bathrooms are open air so get ready for frogs and lizards everywhere which I actually liked but most won't. Ultimately the place is super cheap and the staff are very friendly. If you like privacy and think having an abandoned Balinese town to yourself is kinda cool then hey why not. Worth it for one night for the lols then go to a real hotel.

Terrible place to stay. My stay there was terrifyinng.

I and my husband had booked a private pool villa. As soon as we entered the place, it looked like a abandoned old haunted property. The villa next to us was semi collapsed, and trees grown inside the villas, it actually was a haunted movie scene. You will not find any sort of light when u travel at night and the receptionists were unprofessional, unfriendly. This is the First resort/villa were i heard restaurants are operational on weekends, i had to sleep hungry on the day of stay as it was a sunday and there is not restaurant close by.Bath tub/pool were invaded by pests. And intercom does not work.

Rundown villas, bad conditions, not hygienic and insects everywhere!!!

    rating01 Jan 2019

DO NOT BOOK - You have been warned.DIRTY AND DISGUSTING bathroom and yards - Insects everywhere I go. Even if it's raining season, the conditions and cleanliness extremely UNACCEPTABLE. I cannot believe I got charged 80 dollars per night and ended up sleeping with mosquitoes, seeing red worms on the bathroom floor the next day, and antenna insects EVERYWHERE IN THE YARD / WALKWAY. Some even got into my bed room!! I was so glad I didn't leave my luggage on the floor. Forget about the private pool. I came there in the evening and was cautious not to go in, as it was too dark and couldn't examine the conditions. Next day I saw insects and worms swimming inside. I asked them to spray and clean the entire room but 4 hours later when I came back, it was still the same. It is simply the conditions of the villas and the rampant insects that have been growing and breeding for a long time. They seriously need to do a proper pesticide FOR THE ENTIRE PLACE. Stop selling rooms at such expensive price, you are lying to the customers and you should not even be in business.I checked in in the evening, and after seeing the condition the next morning, I immediately asked to check out and a refund. They said they will pay me back for the nights I didn't stay, but in the end I still lost 80 bucks for the first night which was absolutely not worth it. Moved to another hotel nearby with half the price, and very happy with the conditions there.

    Avoid!

    rating14 Jun 2018

Avoid at all costs. The pictures do not reflect the run down state that the place is in. Rotting wooden doors, hotel pool empty, garden overgrown, balustrading falling down - quite dangerous. The facilities offered on the website are non-existant - there is no room service, there is no shuttle to the beach, the breakfast is horrendous - 90% of what is listed on guest services is not available. The bathroom is old with yellowing plastic and rusting taps & shower fittings, the toilet did not flush properly. The bedroom is clean, the bed is extremely comfortable and new - the room has the potential to be stunning however, the wooden doors are rotting and the light fittings around the pool removed so there are exposed wires. Doors didn't lock, aircon not working properly, exposed joins in the wires in bedside lamps. I don't believe the hotel is safe for occupation. The entire hotel is deserted, it was an incredibly uncomfortable situation to be in. Booked to stay 2 nights, we checked out the next morning. Breakfast was another horrendous experience, food inedible - I decided to not eat and to leave as soon as possible. I feel very sorry for the staff, they are extremely polite and friendly people - clearly trying to make the best of an awful situation. The General Manager had only been at the hotel one week and was extremely apologetic and agreed to refund me for the second night - I will wait for my refund and trust it will be done.

    Sunday Lunch

    rating14 Oct 2017

We were invited to Sekar Nusa Villas for lunch. The grounds are set on high ground overlooking the ocean. The restaurant was quiet but we enjoyed the moment with Nasi Campur and iced tea. The food was good. Rice, beef, prawns, tempe, chicken and sambal. The staff were very attentive and it was an enjoyable experience.
