    rating08 Feb 2026

Exceptionally helpful staff I was travelling to Portugal in a small truck not my normal transport and parking was an issue so I called ahead and the staff were brilliant and helpful they had a secure parking spot waiting for me. Would 100% recommend for disabled wheelchair guests with helpful staff.

    rating22 Sept 2025

We have stayed here several times, essentially because it is so near the motorway on our way north or south. In spite of several negative reviews, we have always found our experience to be exceptional. My husband is in a wheelchair and the staff have always been extremely helpful. Our accessible bedroom / bathroom has been first class and we have never had trouble booking this particular room, along with the one next door for my son who travels with us to help. We’ve found all facilities and meals to be more than adequate and stay regularly. Director Hospes Palacio de Arenales, Director General at Hotel Hospes Palacio De Arenales & Spa, responded to this review Dear Ellie,Thank you very much for choosing Hospes Palacio de Arenales & SPA once again and for taking the time to share your experience. We are delighted to hear that both you and your husband have felt comfortable and well cared for during your stays, and that our accessible rooms and services have met your expectations. We are pleased that our team has been able to provide the necessary assistance to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay, and that our facilities and dining have fully met your needs. Your kind words are a great recognition of the dedication of our entire staff. It will be a true pleasure to welcome you back again and continue providing an exceptional experience in Cáceres or any of our Hospes destinations.Kind regards,Jorge SánchezGeneral manager

A comfortable, convenient stopping point en route through Spain.

    rating07 Jun 2025

This is rated 5* but I would put it at 4* really and it’s a good hotel for that rating. Our second visit here, it is conveniently situated for drives through Spain, a few kilometres outside of Caseres, a lovely, historic town for a stroll, and not far from the motorway. The countryside around the hotel is lovely. Excellent free surface parking and electric charging, and, importantly for us with a classic car, secure, underground parking for 15€ per night extra. The staff are excellent as are the rooms. We didn’t use the spa, not something we enjoy, but the outdoor pool, garden and cafe are all well maintained and managed with plenty of sun beds or cabanas. The stork nesting poles and their occupants are added interest! For me it’s the food offering that lets the hotel down. Breakfast feels a little basic and, as others have said, the pastries don’t seem fresh and the fresh fruit choice was limited. It’s 23€ for breakfast and I don’t feel it was worth that. The restaurant was a disappointment too. The standards from the kitchen are not of 5* level in my opinion. That said, we ate adequately for an overnight stop, the staff are very good and we will probably stay again as it is so convenient. Just expect 4* rather than 5*. Director Hospes Palacio de Arenales, Director General at Hotel Hospes Palacio De Arenales & Spa, responded to this review Dear Tracey,Thank you very much for choosing Hospes Palacio de Arenales & SPA once again as a stopover during your journey through Spain, and for taking the time to share such a detailed review. We’re delighted to know that our location, outdoor facilities, secure parking, and above all, the attention of our staff, met your expectations. We truly appreciate your continued trust in us.We also take note of your observations regarding breakfast and the restaurant. We’re sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations in these areas, which we consider key to a complete experience. Please rest assured that we are constantly working to improve the freshness, variety, and presentation of the products we offer, and your comments are very helpful in this process. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the near future, and that you’ll be able to enjoy the improvements we are implementing. Excellent hotel in lovely location

    rating15 May 2025

We have stayed at many 5* hotels all over the world and have no complaints regarding this hotel where our suite was lovely and unlike previous comments did not seem to require updating. All the staff were pleasant and helpful and the food at breakfast was excellent. We did not eat dinner there but did eat and drink in their cafe watching the storks and raptors flying overhead. The hotel is in a pleasant countryside location a few km out of town and it was a delight to watch the storks and storklings on their nesting platforms at the hotel. We have made a note to come back on our annual visits via the ferry to Santander and onwards through Spain and Portugal. Director Hospes Palacio de Arenales, Director General at Hotel Hospes Palacio De Arenales & Spa, responded to this review Dear Jonathan,Thank you very much for choosing Hospes Palacio de Arenales & SPA and for taking the time to share your thoughtful and generous review. We are truly pleased to know that you enjoyed your suite, the peaceful countryside setting, and especially the presence of the storks and raptors that make our location so unique. It's also a pleasure to hear that our team made you feel welcome and that breakfast met your expectations. Watching the local wildlife from our café terrace is indeed a special experience, and we’re delighted you had the chance to enjoy it.It will be a great pleasure to welcome you again on your next journey through Spain and Portugal. We look forward to being part of your travels for many years to come.Warmest regards,Jorge SánchezGeneral Manager

    Hospes Hotels must do better

    rating04 May 2025

I love Hospes Hotels having stayed at 4 different locations and planned to visit their entire portfolio. Not anymore. Hospes Palacio de Arenales in Cácares claims to be a 5* star hotel but falls too short in too many areas to be considered a true luxury hotel. I’m certain the group management must know this as almost all my following comments have been recorded previously. Our room, a suite, was dated, sparsely furnished and unwelcoming having not been updated I estimate for 25 years. The toiletries were possibly the lowest quality I have experienced anywhere recently with standard items missing. Little things like the harshest tissues I have ever used and no turndown service pointing to petty cost cutting. The breakfast buffet was frankly shocking. Stale pastries, coffee machine not working and a hopeless selection. And this is meant to be a market leading establishment! And despite low occupancy, no availability in the Spa during our stay. I suspect it was fully occupied by non resident members. So one of the features we were most looking forward to and effectively paid for was not an option.I would also mention the staff were all outstanding, friendly and very helpful. Any issues we experienced are not of their making. With little or no maintenance in outdoor areas, Palacio de Arenales had the feeling of an unloved and failing establishment. Hospes must do better. Director Hospes Palacio de Arenales, Director General at Hotel Hospes Palacio De Arenales & Spa, responded to this review Dear Chris,Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback regarding your recent stay at Hospes Palacio de Arenales & SPA. We are truly sorry to hear that your experience fell short of expectations, and we appreciate you highlighting the outstanding service of our team members. We sincerely apologize for the issues you encountered with the room quality, the breakfast, and the spa availability. Please rest assured that we take all guest feedback seriously, and we are already reviewing the areas you mentioned in order to improve our facilities and services.Unfortunately, due to high demand and the presence of external members, the spa had limited availability during your stay. However, we will work on better managing this space in the future to avoid such situations. It is truly a shame that a weak link in our chain has led to a negative impression, especially considering your fondness for the Hospes brand. We genuinely hope that you will give us the opportunity to restore your trust and experience the excellence that our other properties consistently offer. We hope to welcome you back soon for an experience that meets the high standards you expect from Hospes.Warm regards,Jorge SánchezGeneral Manager
