    Great place to stay in Saarland

    I usually book my rooms via Hotels.com. In their listings they list not just the price but also the ratings from their readers as well as the TripAdvisor rating. What made me notice this was the Superb rating and the affordable price of $70. When I'm traveling on business solo, I look for as nice a hotel as possible for under US$100/night - and that's not too far from where I am having meetings. The Leonardo fit that bill quite well.Located in Volklingen, a suburban town about 16 kilometers from Saarbrucken (my meeting was in central Saarbrucken), it's a short drive away. The town of Volklingen is an old industrial town with a large steel mill and a UNESCO Heritage Site within the town limits. Otherwise, it's rather sleepy compared to Saarbrucken. When I arrived in town at 9:30pm it was pretty much quiet and asleep. I don't imagine there's much nightlife going on here, if that's what you're looking for.The hotel is on the hillside and is decorated in a modern contemporary fashion. It's nicely done but if you're looking for an old German setting, this is not it. The lobby is spacious and the bar and restaurant are just off the reception desk and by the elevators. It seems like this hotels cater to business clientele because it's the usual scene of business travelers hanging out at the bar having a drink or two.     Airco broken so you better go somewhere else!

    Airco broken so you better go somewhere else!We did not sleep due to unbearable heat in the room, window could be opened a bit but very noicy (staff, guest and road). Staff told us airco was broken in all rooms. Next morning some other guests said they complained and did get an airco room. So lies told, we got no chance to go to other room or hotel. We got breakfast for free.Unacceptable.

    No Air Conditioning...sweltering room

    Our room was in 4th floor and the air conditioning was out. We asked for a fan but got nothing except for a sweltering room that we couldn’t sleep in. It was so bad we got up early to check out (5 am) just to get out of the heat. The staff offered no solutions, apologies, or compensation for our “experience”. This was terrible.

    When one goes to a four star hotel, one would expect that the airconditioning is working properly. Also that if it is actually known to the reception staff it isn’t, that one would be informed accordingly. We weren’t. The hotel is also being used for groups as a place to go together after a burial, at the close-by cemetery.
