Not the relaxing stay I was hoping for....
12 Jul 2015
We stayed for 3 out of the 5 days booked at the Tanjung Villas and had a lot of issues with the accommodation. Since I was the one who booked it, it was quite embarrassing that there was so many problems from the start. Although the villas are large and have lots of potential the amenities are outdated.- Hot water not working on the 15th of June and there was no one in the office outside until the next morning which we were advised is monitored 24hrs a day. As we had my 5 month old nephew with us not being able to bathe him was a major issue.-WIFI had service but did not work at all and no landline phone was provided in the villas so could not contact any family members or management when there was no-one in the office.- No signs on the streets leading to the villas so was hard to find for taxis which often led to them driving up and down the alley for a long time.- Too many mosquitoes and the stagnate water feature in the front entrance was a mosquito larvae breading ground. We bought several mosquito coils and had them going around the clock but they did not seem to work.-There was people on the roof near the open skylight which faces directly into our bathroom.- Doors were not secure, safe only locked via key not pin code so was unsafe.- My brother got bitten by a dog walking down the alley to get to the main strip, which is not the managements fault but gives you an idea on the issues we faced being that the villas are found down a shady alleyway.Although with all the above, the staff was very friendly, helpful and did everything they could to make our stay more comfortable but understandably it was not a very safe environment to have a 5 month old baby in so we could not continue to let the issues happen. I spoke to the Manager about this and they told me to send and email which I am still yet to receive a response...

Dear Jordan,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us as we really value it. I would also like to extend my sincerest apologies for the service lapse that you experienced during your stay with family. Please rest assured that I have spoken with my team regarding the hot water, WIFI, and Mosquitoes to ensure that they fix the problems and also provide more timely efficient service in the future. There is a new construction behind our villa and I have spoken to the owner to respect our guest’s privacy, also your comments regarding the doors and safe deposit box are well noted.I am sorry to hear about your brother got bitten by a dog on our street and I do hope that he has fully recovered by now.On behalf of my team, I would also like to thank you for your kind words about their friendliness and kindness.Once again, I do regret and apologise that your experience did not live up your expectations and I do hope that you will be able to give us a second chance.Thank you for staying with us and I look forward to welcoming you back in the future.Best regards,Yulia Tandjung

Stay in villa Tanjung
09 Jul 2015
In May 2015 I stayed one week in villa Tanjung. I booked via internet booking. I really enjoyed the time and love both Seminyak as well the stay in the villa. The staff was very friendly, the villa very comfortable. Luxureous and clean. Much better than a villa I rented earlier. I can really recommend this villa.

Great if you don't intend to spend any time there

I spent 24 hours in the villa and that was enough for me. We had a 5 month old baby with us and had the following issues.Pump for the pond under the bridge was disconnected so the water was stagnant and had become a Mosquito breeding ground; only one room had "mosquito netting" which was just bed sheets and the baby cot had no protection from bugs. The other rooms had no protection and despite us buying coils and burners they still bit all of us in our sleepIn the dining area the table was dirty and there was left over bingtan bottles from previous occupants left in cupboards. Thorough cleaning of the kitchen hadn't been completed in some time as the top of the fridge was filthy and food items left in cupboards Dvd's from previous users a also left over and not thrown out Hot water system stopped working for a whole evening which made it very difficult to wash our little boyWifi was easy to log into but signal was poor and never worked Staff after 6pm couldn't be found The bathroom had no forced circulation so the room was hot and a breeding ground for Mosquitos too The place looked really nice when we first moved in but with a small child and the lack of service we couldn't stand it so Moved to another hotel we had villa 2

It is so difficult to choose a place when searching online particularly if you don't know Bali and the different areas. Chose Seminyak if you are a bit older or not looking for those "experiences" you would see on reality TV. I would describe myself as someone of high standards but with realistic expectations. Bali is Bali; humidity effects the buildings and utilities are a little less than what we are used to in Oz, but if you accept this then you will enjoy your time. In saying that Tunjung Villa was a terrific place for us to stay and we would recommend. The staff at Tunjung (Reservation, drivers, office, housekeepers/cooks) were the most enjoyable part of our stay with them, helpful, kind and knowledgeable. We booked a day trip via the office staff and very very happy as our highlight of trip. The Villa itself is more than suitable but bathrooms showing the side effects of time. Location is quite good, walking distance to beach restaurants, a great supermarket, restaurants and good/hassle free shopping,

After reading everyone's reviews I wondered whether we stayed at the same villas! Our group stayed in villas 1 & 2. We arrived first (villa 1) The staff rang the manager and she came to meet us and take our $100 security bond. We never saw her again for the week we were there. Our friends arrived at 2pm to check into villa 2. The villa was not ready. They were a party of 6 with a 4 month old baby. The taxi staff off loaded there luggage (prams, cots, suitcases etc) and took off. We had to get all of their luggage and put it into our villa because there was no staff to help (as they were still cleaning villa 2) They finally finished cleaning the villa and our friends checked in at 3.30pm! Um.. pretty sure check - in is 2pm. THEN i had to tell the staff to help them with their suitcases. That was day one. Our villa was nice but so many things went wrong. All the toilets were either blocking up or overflowing. The kitchen was filthy. We found mouse droppings in the saucepans. The safe in our room wasn't bolted to the floor. There are no power points in the bathrooms. The wardrobes stink. The pool was overflowing. The baths don't work. That is just a few of the things wrong at the property. The staff have not been trained enough as well. All they do is wash the dishes (and leave them on the sink) make the beds and sweep and wash the floor. Not once did the staff change the dirty floor mats in the bathrooms! If you want some clean towels or toilet paper or tissues or ANYTHING you have to go to the office and ask for it yourself. They don't check if the toilet paper needs replenishing or the towels are dirty etc etc. The security guard, and i use that term loosely, looked like he was about 12 and weighed 50 kilos at a push, which was a worry considering our safe wasn't bolted to the floor! Ok some nice things, Ketut the driver across the road was great. The little laundry man down the end of the gang was great. The villa is lovely. Nice and big with lots of seating areas. The pool is huge. Wi fi excellent and nice comfy beds. My husband and I travel to Bali 2 or 3 times a year and have stayed in so many different hotels and villas over the past 30 years but this one takes the cake. In the end we just laughed it off. It was like staying at faulty towers. I hope the management take responsibility for their staffs' shortcomings and give them some proper training. There doesn't seem to be any "senior" staff around checking anything.
