    Please do not get scammed

    rating16 Sept 2024

I usually do not write bad reviews, however this place made me absolutely appalled. For context, I have booked this hotel on loveholidays with images of blue beautifully decorated rooms for a cheap price near the beach for me and my mum to relax. I have booked a double bed no balcony room.Let start with the check in. We entered the reception, and the lady at the reception demanded for a charge of 6 euros before giving out keys. Once asked what the charge was for, the lady stated “ everyone in this place pay so you have to pay”.Hold on, I have already paid for the whole 5 night stay with this hostel? The lady did not give a reasonable reason as for why they need more from us. Nor does it state anywhere that there will be a charge. Regardless we have paid because there’s no way around it.Let’s start with the state the room was.We entered the room and were in a brink of tears. It was a twin bed room, with thin brown sheet to cover the beds. That’s it. The place smelled old, the bathroom had a bathtub that was stained brown and yellow from age and god knows what, the tiles were chipping and rotting away. They love to portray how beautiful their reception is, but only show one image of a fake decorated bedroom on their website.Once reviewing all of this, me and my mum have decided to check out 30minutes after checking in.The lady at the reception was passive aggressive and was giving faces once she asked why. Once we stated we are no longer interested and will just look elsewhere, she took the keys and walked away. What kind of service are these people taught? You enter the reception and the person sitting at the desk cannot even smile? Poor girl looks like she hates her job. After this we brought a booking for a hotel with a private kitchen, living room and swimming pool down the road.I am writing to express my advice. If you are a person that is looking for someone to sleep, and do not care about hygiene, please go ahead. However we were fooled by the images that were portrayed and the description.

Super clean, great location and excellent staff

    rating02 Aug 2023

Just returned from a long weekend in Blanes and a great stay at Hostal Miranda. I was worried having read some previous reviews but there was no reason to be once we arrived. The first impression was how really clean the whole place was. The rooms were comfy and the staff incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Yes its basic, but what do you expect on this budget. I would agree that the rooms could do with aircon but we were happy to open a window. The road was far from the "main road" suggested by others but if noise bothers you, just take some earplugs and you'll sleep all night. Beach is very close both the old town side and the tourist (Dutch) side. The local bars are very welcoming (especially Shamrock Bar) and the supermarket 2 doors down is really usefull.Overall a great choice on a budget.

    The Balcony of Doom

    rating21 Jul 2019

Wow! What can I say about the Miranda? Lets start with the positives, the rooms are cleaned every day and towels changed every other day and the staff are friendly. The downsides.... The lack of air con is a huge problem, the rooms are concrete sweat boxes even with a window open. If you are planning on sleeping early don't bother this isn't a quiet area the noise from the street is horrific, couple that with the noise from the local bars and the inebriated crashing in at 4am every night its fab! Saturday nights are best, when I arrived, there did seem to be a couple of working girls turning tricks next door, judging by the steady stream of different men, the moans and the thwack of leather on buttock, oh the joys of bordello life after an 8hr journey!! I'd paid extra for a balcony, dreams of a sea view, waves gently caressing crisp golden sand sunlight glistening off the water, bliss! You can forget that, the balconies look out straight onto peoples living and bedroom windows 20ft across the street, George Formby must have stayed here and got the inspiration for "If you could see what I can see" lyric!! I'm now mentally scarred and may need therapy! The balcony itself was a death trap in the making the metal guard rail was happily rusting through in the sunshine and for the suicidal it reassuringly moved with a deathly, creaky invitation to flight and the pavement below. Who needs Geneva and Dignitas with the balcony of doom. The most alarming part was the loose concrete block, 3ft x 6" x 6" approx 20kg being held precariouly in place by a piece of electrical conduit and the bottom of the guard rail! All in all Blanes was a good little resort which I'd go back to but I wouldn't stay at the Miranda again :(

    Great value for money!

    rating12 Sept 2018

We stayed here for seven nights last week and it was great. The rooms were spotless with beds made up every day and clean towels every two days. The staff were very friendly and efficient and the 5euro breakfast was well worth the money with a great selection of cold meat, sliced cheese and fresh fruit etc. The beds were really comfortable too. It's a bit old fashioned but the price reflects that. One downside is that the street can be a bit noisy during the night but otherwise it's great. The location is pretty good too with lots of eating places and bars in surrounding streets, although the Hostal bar is very good and prices reasonable. We would definitely stay here again.
