Fine option if you get an attractive rate

    rating31 Jan 2026

Booked this with some apprehension due to the mixed reviews. The rate was somewhat acceptable at the time of my booking so decided to give this a try.Location:1. Along a busy road with lots of trendy restaurants and cafes. 5 minutes’ walk away is a large and well-stocked Pepito Express supermarket and next to it, a handy Bistro Deli shop which sells delicious bread/pastries and self-service pasta and salad bar. Several minimarts and shops along the road as well2. The hotel building (4 blocks) is tucked away from the chaotic road which is full of motorbikes through the day. Very faint prayer calls can be heard but almost inaudible once you close your balcony doorsRoom:1. I chose the Deluxe Ultimate room as this room type is refurbished recently and the web photos look very appealing to me (and indeed the room looked exactly like the photos!). This room category is in the last building at the back, facing one of the two pools and near the newly opened hotel restaurant (Pepino)2. The cheapest category, Deluxe Classic rooms are spread over the rest of the hotel blocks. The first block (closest to the lobby) is currently under renovation. There are also other room categories that you could choose from, depending on how much comfort you want/money you wish to spend3. Large glass pitcher is provided in the room for drinking water refill near the lift/staircases4. I stayed on the highest floor and so had very lovely views of the tranquil surrounding greenery from the balcony5. No insects or odour in the room/toilet/balcony – what a relief!6. Reasonably clean overall (found a plastic spoon deep inside the minibar and a toothbrush hidden behind the shampoo bottle, lol)7. Didn’t like the pillows (2 types provided – large and medium size. Both types are just too firm for me)8. Wifi speed is very slow and connection is frequently lost in the room and at the balcony. Youtube video streaming is agonisingly slow on the smart TV and sometimes impossible. The signals are strongest in the restaurant and lobbyStaff, Services and Amenities:1. Staff are generally very friendly and helpful2. Reception lobby is dim and tiny, looks shabby and is too warm and uncomfortable to stay around for long. Standard check in time is 3 pm, later than most other hotels in Kuta 3. Shared umbrellas are provided at the ground floor lift lobbies4. Buffet breakfast (6-10am) is extensive and the restaurant, being new, is contemporary, comfortable and very clean. Chef was wonderful in attending to guests’ requests5. Small gym is by the pool, with limited equipment (treadmill and weights)6. Hotel spa (Damar) has 4 massage beds, each separated by heavy curtains for modesty. I had the Back and Shoulder massage (30 minutes for 150,000 rupiah) and ended up with more pain than relaxation. The masseuse doesn’t seem well-trained to understand the pressure points/right techniques and does not offer clothes hanger or locker until being asked5. Hotel's car transfer to the airport (200,000 rupiah) was punctual and the ride was safe and comfortableThere are many other hotels along this stretch of road, so I guess it comes down to what level of comfort and rates you are looking at and what kind of vibes/ambience you like. Personally, I’m fairly satisfied with my stay but wouldn’t choose it again if the rate is too high

Dishonest and mislead information, and bad facility

    rating25 Dec 2025

Just checked in at this hotel this afternoon and already regretting my decision.I just called the reception asking for an iron and iron board and the reception told me that they don't provide iron my room type and I have to send to the laundry room and be charged for the pressing service. I am not aware of this condition, if not, I would have brought my own mini iron or book into another hotel in the first place. In the guide book, it clearly stated that iron is subject to availability and we have to ask from the reception. No mention on being charged on just wanting to use an iron and forced to use their laundry pressing service. I have stayed at many hotels around the world, and this is the first time I have encountered this. Also had a bad experience at the spa. Was left unattended for 15 minutes after my massage started, when the masseuse went to entertain guests at the reception area. It was so noisy and no one came to attend to me until I yelled out " hello, I have waited more than 10 minutes here".They are also having renovations at their reception area. Also the lift doesn't work, I have a senior citizen in our group. We had to climb 3 flights of stairs to go to our rooms.Avoid at all cost. I have one more night tomorrow, can't wait to check out and check in into our other hotel.

A wonderful stay, perfect in every way

    rating17 Sept 2025

This is a most wonderful hotel, the hotel team are helpful, friendly, very accommodating and made our stay very pleasant. The hotel itself is a little oasis from the hustle and bustle of Kuta. Located 5 mins walk from the beach it is modern, clean with well appointed rooms. Facilities included two pools, bars, and an excellent restaurant. I recommend using the hotel for tours as we visited the Monkey Caves, the three Gili Islands and Tetebatu waterfalls over separate days, each trip was seamless and well organised. You are spoilt for choice for places to eat around the hotel and Kuta itself was a joy to visit. A truly wonderful holiday with many new experiences and happy memories.

Extremely Disappointing Stay – Avoid if You Can

    rating05 Aug 2025

I rarely leave reviews, but my stay at Sima Hotel was so unpleasant that I felt compelled to warn others. Upon checking in, I found the room in an unacceptable state. The bed had a large red stain on the sheets, along with smaller yellow ones—clearly not cleaned or changed. Pulling back the covers was honestly unsettling. Same with the towels which were stained and ripped. The room itself was dirty and felt like it hadn’t been properly cleaned in months. Benchtops were covered in crumbs and dried toothpaste, and the toilet seat had visible urine on it. The shower had grime buildup along all the edges, and the tiles, doors, and cornices were cracked and damaged throughout. To make matters worse, the hot water in the shower barely lasted five minutes. Breakfast was disappointing and not worth mentioning. For the high price, this place is an absolute rip-off.It’s also incredibly loud, with noise from nearby bars and restaurants making it hard to relax or get a good night’s sleep. The lack of soundproofing just added to the discomfort.I tried to check out and find another hotel, but unfortunately everything else was fully booked for the weekend. I genuinely felt unclean staying here.**Do yourself a favour: stay somewhere else. You’ll likely pay less and get a far better experience in a cleaner, quieter, more comfortable room.**

    Bedbug infestation

    rating03 Jun 2025

Everything looks very nice, but they have a bedbug infestation. It's a lottery if you end up in a room without one. It's just a matter of time before everything is infested. We weren't the first. After it happened to us, we investigated, and we weren't the only ones. There are other comments about it from a while ago (and apparently they haven't fixed it). What's more regrettable is their way of dealing with the problems. After going to the doctor because the bites were all over our body with unbearable itching, we had to wash all our clothes (clean, since it was our third day) after we went to the doctor. They didn't want to refund us for the remaining nights. Their solution was to change the room and, I suppose, pray that there weren't any in that one. You don't expect this to happen in a "hotel" of these characteristics, but if it does, the management has to be correct, not putting a little insecticide and having new guests in the same room. I'm attaching some photos; the rest of the body was the same or worse. I hope this reaches its destination and doesn't happen to more people, as it ruins part of your vacation.
