  Misleading Room Booking & Poor Maintenance

  2nd time staying here after 7 years — and honestly, I really wish this hotel would go through a full renovation!I confirmed with Svarga’s marketing team on July 3rd that I wanted to book a Full Private Pool Suite — not some downgraded version. During my last stay, I stayed in the Varda Pool Deluxe, right beside the Salza Restaurant. The marketing team told me that the Full Private Pool Suite would be a different and higher category than the one I previously stayed in.But upon check-in, the bellboy took me to the exact same room again. When I asked the front desk, they told me it was a “booking error.” That’s ridiculous — I had already confirmed my booking through WhatsApp with their own marketing team!To “compensate,” they offered a candlelight dinner and a free hotel transfer. Nice gesture, but it doesn’t fix the real issue — a wrong room type and misleading booking info.I’ve stayed here before, so I know exactly the difference between the Varda Pool Deluxe and the Full Private Pool Suite. Makes me wonder — how many other guests have been misled the same way?And honestly, the room was in bad shape: broken furniture, leaking tap, and mold everywhere. For a place charging over USD 100 per night and claiming to be a 4-star resort, this is unacceptable.Svarga used to be a lovely resort with great potential, but after 7 years, it feels tired, poorly maintained, and far from its former charm. Definitely not worth the money anymore. Please renovate and bring back the real Svarga experience!

  I've been travelling solo for the past 3 weeks all around Indonesia and Lombok was my 4th and before last stop of the journey.The only reason I have given a 3/5 is thanks to the staff who were kind and helpful. Small touches like extending a takeaway breakfast when I said I was leaving early morning were highly appreciated. One of the gentlemen at the restaurant saw that I had something stuck in my hand and I was trying to get it off and he offered to help.I have booked the Varda Superior Double because I fell in love with the pictures of the view and bathroom. But what a deception reality was. The rate was super attractive, but had I known what was waiting for me at Svarga, I wouldn't have stayed there and would have chosen an international brand over a local one.Number 1: What they don't tell you is that the only available elevator does not service all the rooms. There are a LOT of stairs. Each room category is located on a specific floor so if you decide to stay, ask on which floor the room you want is located. For me it was super inconvenient to come back after a long day of exploring and having to climb tons of stairs. My legs were so sore. Plus absolutely not practical for the luggage be it for the guests or the poor staff who has to do this several times a day. I did ask for a high floor because that's always my go to but had I known...Number 2: Was not expecting to find bathroom amenities so that was nice. Though there is no hairdryer unlike what it says on the room description. Maintenance and cleanliness are terrible (to the point of deciding not to use the spa nor the pool, even if they looked nice). I probably got the worst room of the Varda category or a least this is how I felt. There was one missing letter at entrance of the room (522). I did NOT use the bathroom at all besides the toilet (that I cleaned before each use using disinfecting wipes). The lovely bathtub had bugs and stagnant water as well as the washbasin. And there was no separate shower to save the situation. So, every day after my tours, I'd find a place to freshen up outside before going back to the resort... Several stains all around the floors, the menus etc. (pictures). The humidity was absolutely horrible in both the room and the bathroom. So I had to always keep the bathroom door closed and the air-conditioning on at all times. I also bought an electric mosquito repellent, as there wasn't any in the room, and it stayed plugged 24/7.Number 3: Several things mentioned in the room description were not placed in the room. Coffee machine (there was only a kettle), Fruit platter, hairdryer. These are few examples. The safety box did not work so that was not convenient to be carrying valuables around Lombok during my tours but I had no other option.Number 4: The restaurant. Though the staff was so kind and helpful, few touches are missing for a 4 star property like clearing empty plates from the tables should be a reflex. The breakfast buffet was included which was not expected so that was nice. The buffet itself however was very basic and there were always small flying bugs and flies on some foods (that were not covered with a lid or something) like the tomatoes and cucumber slices for example. No hot milk was available unfortunately. Food in the restaurant tasted average and few things tasted off (chicken club sandwich for example).Number 5: The WiFi and TV had several bugs. Would work 5 minutes and stop working for 10 minutes. On and off.I did not complain during my stay and always left the room on Do Not Disturb. Why? Because first I did not see a single manager around during my stay (weird for a 4 star) and also what could have been done beside perhaps a room move which wouldn't have solved the several issues that mainly revolved around cleanliness and maintenance and never-ending stairs. I was leaving the property from early morning to evening and coming back just to sleep and grab a quick bite and then breakfast in the AM.The property has a lot of potential but needs lots of work to be a proper 4 stars.I would not stay again nor recommend either.

  Stay away from svarga.Booked 5 nights, left after the 4th.The pictures online are fake, no planted roofs and everything looks dated, our balcony room didn't have any furniture on the balcony which made it utterly pointless as we couldn't really make use of it.Food in the restaurant is average at best with tough stewed beef and the unnecessary use of hotplates.No information prior to or during booking that the hotel doesn't serve alcohol, which is fine, it would've been nice to know that if you like to have a cocktail by the pool, this isn't the place for it.What is and isn't included in breakfast changes on the daily with very little to no explanation by the staff.Only one glass of warm water included in said breakfast.On checkout no one asked how our stay was or why it is that we're checking out earlier WITHOUT requesting a refund.To crown it all off my partner came on her period during the night and slightly stained the sheets.For this non deliberate extremely involuntary act we were charged 800.000 (a sum they seemed to make up on the spot), which was not disclosed anywhere that something like this wouldn't be included in the already quite pricey room and quite frankly is discriminatory towards women.I should've listened to all the other bad reviews, do your research People.Svarga left a sour taste in my mouth. For the same price you can stay somewhere much better or cheaper where it doesn't feel like you're being ripped off.

  One of the worst experiences of my life !! Please dont book !!!

  Stay far away from this place! I should have trusted the negative reviews...Upon check-in, we discovered a room with questionable cleanliness, infested with lizards everywhere—even inside the bedroom (the hotel itself is essentially a lizard nest). Around 1 a.m., we realized the bedroom door was broken. We informed the staff, explaining that all kinds of animals could enter and that we refused to sleep under such conditions. We were moved to another room, which was of even lower quality than the one we had paid for.Once again, we were greeted by two large lizards, one of which disappeared into the ceiling above the bed. At this point, the staff casually informed us that the room was "open" and had a hole in the ceiling. Being mildly phobic of reptiles, I had a panic attack. The hotel then asked me to contact Agoda for a refund, which cost me €115 in extra phone charges. When I contacted Agoda, they informed me that the hotel had told them nothing could be done until the next morning because no manager was present (it was 2 a.m.).Later, while reviewing the hotel's Google reviews more carefully, I came across a review from another guest who also had a room infested with lizards. This appears to be a recurring issue at this hotel.I spent the night crying, sitting on a table in a lizard-filled room, waiting for morning to find out if we could be refunded and move to another hotel. During the night, the staff had the audacity to call and inform us that we would need to vacate the room early in the morning because government officials had booked it.The next morning, we were told the previous night would not be refunded, even though we hadn't slept and had spent the night awake and stressed out. This was, without a doubt, the worst experience of my life—a complete waste of time, money, and energy.I highly recommend the Royal Avila hotel, just 10 minutes away. It offers a true 5-star luxury experience with impeccable rooms and attentive staff who genuinely care. Avoid this horrible place at all costs, unless you want tears and frustration like I endured.

  Honeymoon getaway

  We stayed at the honey moon room with own pool, and we loved it. It is a bit away from other hotels and bars, which makes it really quiet at night. The hotel employees are really nice and helpful. Breakfast is big with lots of opportunities. At dinner the restaurant serves fancy dishes - be aware that portions are to the smaller size but beautiful prepare.
