  Nothing special. Only a block from train station so easy walk. It's a tourist hotel so if you want a clean room it suffices. They offer breakfast for an additional fee but for cost just walk out onto street and find a bar/cafeteria

  The hotel is dated, room was moldy but there was no A/c we were told it would be repaired the following day. Then told by law they had to turn a/c off for the season. I asked why we were not told this upon check-in and the desk clerk said the check-in person the day before was new. I asked why the common areas had a/c he said he had no control. We checked out. Stay here at your own risk.

  I would not recommend Hotel Donatello to anyone looking for a comfortable and hassle-free stay in Bologna.

  I recently stayed at Hotel Donatello (29.01-31.01), and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Upon arrival, I encountered a persistent and loud noise coming from the climate system in my room, even when it was turned off. It was impossible to sleep or rest after a long journey to Bologna.I immediately reported the issue to the reception, and while they acknowledged the problem and moved me to another room, the exact same noise issue persisted. With no real solution offered, I had no choice but to book another hotel just to get a proper night’s sleep. This caused significant inconvenience and additional expenses that could have been avoided had the hotel ensured basic comfort for its guests.Despite explaining the situation and requesting a refund for a stay I couldn’t even use properly, the hotel refused. This level of service and lack of accountability is unacceptable. I would not recommend Hotel Donatello to anyone looking for a comfortable and hassle-free stay in Bologna.

  Shabby Single Standard Room Not For Me!

  The hotel has central HVAC, so they had switched to heat in early October and you had no individual thermostat controls to change that. I was told to open my window for fresh air if the room was too warm which I did. However this was a place where pigeons roosted 24/7 and constant noise from water dripping/flowing from outside drainage system. The view was disgusting. The room did not have enough electrical outlets and as I expected was quite small. The twin bed did have a comfortable foam mattress with only 1 pillow, but that was the only compliment I could throw at it. The male and female, when approached at different times, the first day after checkin, gave the same old sorry excuse that they were fully booked and couldn't change my room unless I wanted to pay much more. I checked out the next day. Too seedy a location to enjoy.

  A great budget option, central location.

  Great budget option in a central location. Short walk to train station or central city area. Overall for the cost this is a great option. I booked a single room (single bed) which was compact but adequate for my needs. In hindsight though I should have booked a double as the single bed is small and narrow. The only issues I had is the use of single use packs of body wash, etc. would prefer to see hotels move to a more sustainable option such as dispensers in the shower which are much better. The other minor issue was power sockets. Only one in the room and it was on the other side of the room. Perhaps an option could be organised with usb port like most other hotels are doing. Staff were really nice. Would recommend for a short stay in Bologna.
