One Night at the Alaska Cortina

    rating06 Mar 2026

I wanted a one night stay to be central in town and within walking distance to a ski lift to the slopes to experience Cortina over a 1 night stay. Hotel Alaska delivered. While it was an adventure to get to given the construction all over town, its parking garage was much appreciated, and the 5 to 10 minute walk to the Faloria ski area cable car gave us a fantastic day of skiing. Reception and bar hosts made you feel welcome. Thanks for a memorable stay - although downtown Cortina could use some more outdoor cafes with sunny exposure, if you can believe it. One other surprise, unlike the USA, there was limited merchandising of olympic/cortina touristy items - no I skied Tafano shirts or Olympic products that I saw.

Alaska concierge A team, the best helpful three in the whole hotel.

    rating05 Jan 2026

Our stay at the Alaska started with a long check in, but the team of Riccardo, Paulo and Lumina were extremely helpful and understanding and offered a complimentary glass of vino for the lateness. Our room in the new annex was superb with a modern feel and lots of room. The best result for us was our lost luggage turned up that night and Riccardo was the star concierge as he recalled during our morning check in that Belgian Airlines had delayed our luggage arrival to Venice and then Cortina. As we came in that first night Riccardo remembered us and informed us that our luggage has arrived. For the next 8 days Riccardo, Paulo and Lumina became our amazing hotel friends who could not do enough to make our stay at the Alaska a memorable and wonderful experience. Our room in the new wing was perfect, modern and large, with amazing views of the mountains. The room service and daily clean was impeccable and we had breakfast included and the breakfast team were so obliging to cater for anything we needed from espresso, latte or English breakfast teas. Overall we would highly recommend the Alaska and as long as you get the front desk A team of Riccardo, Paulo and Lumina then you will be looked after superbly. The hotel is in a perfect location for all restaurants and shopping and Boarderline ski hire right next door to the Alaska is the very best rental shop in Cortina. We send our huge thanks to Riccardo for getting our luggage, for receiving a package we were waiting for and for getting us a kettle for our room. Sometimes it is the smallest things that make a stay at a hotel an enjoyable experience and Riccardo and the team of Paulo and Lumina are outstanding and we will always remember them.

    Avoid

    rating28 Dec 2025

First of all the hotel is crazily overpriced for its basic and tired facilities.Second, parking in Cortina is a nightmare. That is not the hotel’s fault. But it is the hotel’s fault (a) not to reply to emails requesting a parking space in the hotel garage (which inevitably turned out to be full) and (b) not to offer any information at all in advance about either how to get to the hotel by car (complicated and difficult) or about alternative parking options.Third, hotel staff were surly, very bureaucratic and unhelpful. Finally, the rooms are unpleasantly overheated (ours was 24 degrees in December).

    4 star hotel? Nope

    rating21 Sept 2025

I will start with the positives: the hotel has an excellent location. Easy to be in the heart of Cotina within a few steps. The continental breakfast had a great variety to choose from and the latte macchiato was delicious. My issues with the hotel started upon arrival. Because of construction, you could not reach the hotel by car. We schlepped our bags through a blocked off parking lot, over railings, and along corridors to get to the lobby. There was never any mention about construction in any of the information about the hotel. We were shown to our room, which did not look like what I had seen online. The room was shabby and poorly furnished. The bed was squished into a small half blocked- off room and didn’t even have bedside tables. Woodwork was dented and scratched and the rest of the furnishings looked like Soviet era style chairs. I was so depressed thinking this was where we were staying. I brought up pictures from online and went down to reception and showed them the picture and asked where these rooms were. We were told they were in another part of the hotel and that we could move if we wanted to We ended up moving to the newer room, however there was no shampoo or conditioner offered in the bath, which seemed wrong given this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel. Not the best experience.

    Don’t waste your money.

Old-fashioned hotel from the early 70s. The quality does not justify the price. Unpleasant staff. Disgusting breakfast coffee – which is unusual in Italy. I will not stay here again.
