Lovely apartment in the best of the 5 villages.

    rating09 Jun 2023

We enjoyed our stay in the La Scuna apartment very much. We had a little trouble locating it, but friendly locals helped out. The apartment is spacious, nicely decorated and well equipped. Unlike the B & B rooms, La Scuna apartment does not have sea views, but it does have a view up along the rugged and terraced hills, which is very nice. It is well set-up for those who like to self-cater, with fridge, cooktop, microwave, dining table and chairs, and ample crockery and cutlery. Staff were friendly and helpful, including when we needed advice on how to access the TV channels. Corniglia seemed very crowded when we arrived, but that may have been because the shuttle bus had just disgorged a couple of loads of passsengers from the station. It seemed to ease off after a while and from our experience of the 5 villages, Corniglia was the least crowded and nicest one to be staying in. There are numerous cafes and bars, as well as a couple of mini-markets where provisions may be purchased. We found the apartment to be very comfortable, although a little cold, due to the late arrival of Spring weather and minimal heating. The internet connection could be patchy, helped by finding a suitable hotspot within the unit and it appeared that the apartment may have been unoccupied for some time, as the floors were quite dusty when we arrived (soon fixed with a good sweeping). All in all, an excellent place to stay, especially if you want to self-cater.

Amazing stay at a fantastic B&B!

    rating25 Sept 2022

I cannot recommend this bed and breakfast enough! Incredibly kind people who were very gracious and kind, and were very welcoming despite our poor Italian. The room was clean, spacious, and had a wonderful view, and the attached restaurant (La Scuna) had a great breakfast and bar! Would absolutely recommend to anyone in the Cinque Terre looking for a quiet, beautiful, and peaceful stay.

Best solo stay & incredibly beauty view from the balcony

    rating30 Oct 2019

I loved the Cinque Terre but I think staying at il Magan in the yellow room was the most incredible experience that I stumbled upon. It was the first available place after checking the hotels through the QANTAS portal. I wasn’t having much luck with hotels as it was August in Italy and I booked my trip at the end of June. This was the first place I found on Airbnb. The view and wine bottle grabbed my attention as soon as I saw it. I was so busy with work that I didn’t even think to check TripAdvisor reviews before booking. I was so lucky that it turned out to be the best experience of my trip.As my first time in Cinque Terre travelling solo, I felt completely safe in the quaint little village of Corniglia and completely cared for by all the staff at il Magan. Booked on a whim, it turned out to be my favourite town compared to the other Terres. Along with a small village feel, I got the peace and quiet time that I needed. I loved sitting and reading on the balcony. I called it my “tower” for rest and relaxation. The check in process was easy at La Scuna Wine & Beer. All staff spoke English. I barely speak Italian and had no trouble.La Scuna also sold local wines - highly recommended, and local artisan (craft) beers which were sensational. The food was also delicious.I have no idea about breakfast because I just had coffee and local pastries every morning. I’m a simple gal...Nutella croissants, coffee and ocean views and I’m in heaven!Only failing is that I would recommend that you catch the bus up the hill though. Especially if you have luggage. Oh and the stairs to get to the hotel and the room. I have no idea if the village even has taxis but it’s pointless because you have to walk to get to the “tower”.My only regret is that I should have stayed longer. But I now know that I will definitely go back. Highly recommended place to all my friends so I extend that out to all travelling to Cinque Terre. ilmagan, Proprietario at il Magan - Cinque Terre, responded to this review Dear Paneeta,It was a pleasure having you in our B&B!Hoping to see you again,Andrea, Manuela e Marco Vernazzani

    Exceeded my expectations

    rating08 Sept 2019

Although our room is very small and the bathroom even smaller, we have loved our stay here. We are sad to check out in the morning. The staff/owners are wonderful. The included breakfast has been sufficient for pre hikes and very tasty. And you can choose from espresso, cappuccino, latte, macchiato, or tea for your hot drink. We are in the Rossa room which has a great view of the vineyards, hamlet of San Bernardino, sea, and Vernazza.Leave the balcony doors open all night and listen to the surf. The balcony also has a clothesline and clothespins which we did utilize.I suggest you bring a lighted makeup mirror for shaving, contacts, etc. The bathroom has one light that is not very bright. And the mirror is far from where one stands. This place is a great value! ilmagan, Proprietario at il Magan - Cinque Terre, responded to this review Thanks for staying with us Melanie. We appreciate your feedback and your suggestion! The Rosa Room is the smaller in our B&B and has a lovely balcony where it's nice to take an aperitif or to relax watching the sea.We hope to see you again in Corniglia!Andrea, Manuela & Marco Vernazzani

    Accommodation for a solo traveller

    rating24 Jun 2019

In my opinion, Corniglia is the best place to stay for a solo traveller who is looking for a more calmer place in quite touristy Cinque Terre. Il magan is located in the very heart of the village. The room is quite small, but perfect for one. The view from the balcony is amazing! If you are an early bird, you should wake up at sunrise to hear the roosters and birds singing. The breakfast was really nice and staff very friendly. I would definitely stay here again! ilmagan, Guest Relations Manager at il Magan - Cinque Terre, responded to this review Thank you!
