    Poor experience - Owner does not respond to inquiry or emails until you send a follow up email. Impossible to communicate with the owner. Didn't obtain access to our room and had to emergency book another hotel.

    At first it was difficult to find someone to help us or the hotel itself. They have apartments in different areas; but once we contact the manager, everything went perfect! We got a beautiful room/apartment, with view. Centrally located.The hotel doesn't have parking and it was a little bit difficult to find a parking space, but not imposible.

    Keep away from The First by La Spezia. It is not a hotel but a collection of suites, which is not clearly communicated on their website. Reaching someone via the provided telephone number is impossible as no one ever answers.A couple of days before our arrival, we received an alarming email stating that our non-refundable reservation had been canceled. Despite numerous attempts to call, we had no success. Finally, after sending an email, we received a response stating it was a mistake. This level of miscommunication is unacceptable and stressful. Our honeymoon suite was disappointing from the start, with scraped walls that hinted at poor maintenance. Initially, we decided to overlook this, but things worsened when we discovered mold emerging from behind the scraping. When we confronted the reception (which we only found by wandering around), the general director dismissively claimed that mold was impossible due to regular maintenance—a clear falsehood given the visible evidence.The First by La Spezia markets itself as a luxury destination, but they fall far short of this claim. They ignored any request. We order champagne and strawberries to have on a specific day. However, it got delivered on the day of arrival which was not correct. When we asked if we could have the cooler on another day, they ignored our request. Worse still, it was evident that their so-called maintenance had attempted to cover up the mold by simply painting over it. There was mold even inside the ventilation. Please mind that maintenance also came unannounced and unattained. We found it out by coming back to our room. Our bedroom door was open, but the toilette was locked. The maintenance guy came out of it. We were speechless! When we confronted the general manager after having spoken on a different occasion with a very nice receptionist who at least apologized but could not do anything, he did not seem to care and even told us that there was no mold in their rooms despite evidence of the pictures. We asked him for a refund, but everything must be approved by the owner who does not even seem to care either. The only thing they care about is your money. If you have a bad experience, they could not care less. It is really a pity because we were so much looking to spend some days in a luxury place. The suite would have been really nice without the mold and bad service. Do not stay at The First by La Spezia if you value your health and expect a true luxury experience. The misleading information, poor communication, subpar accommodations, and unprofessional staff make it the worst stay ever. Save yourself the trouble and find somewhere else to enjoy your vacation.

    Horrible experience. Unprofessional and somewhat frightening staff. Context: (this part isn’t what bothered us) check in is not in person and has a little box with a code to get your key. It was past 3pm, when he said we could go to the box and get our key to check in. It says “Only take your key” and we opened the box and saw only one key, assuming it was ours.What really was the problem:We assumed wrong. We get a text at 8am the next day, angry at us that we stayed in the wrong room. We apologized, even though it wasn’t completely our fault, and he made a very childish comment.Attached photos are screenshots of our extremely unprofessional experience.We ended up leaving and staying at another place. Even though the payment was non-refundable, we felt extremely uncomfortable knowing an immature person has our personal information and wanted to leave the situation.

    Good clean unmanned hotel in apartment building

    Liked · Very good location for where we needed to be. This is an unmanned set of rooms in a large old apartment building. We were a bit confused at first by reception all operating through WhatsApp messages, but whoever was on the other end was excellent and extremely helpful with our rather inane questions and responded to everything immediately. We spent two nights here. Shower presure was excelent.Disliked · The air-conditioning in our room did not work at all and needs re-gassing.The form that we were emailed two days before we arrived was painful to fill in and asked for more details than it needed to. Also not easy to complete when you only have a phone to work off. And then this information was never received by the person who was remotely operating the reception via WhatsApp so had to send him pictures of passport
