    Nice little family run hotel next to the train station and really close to the historic center of Lucca. Room was good, older hotel, my bed could have used a new mattress. Breakfast was great and staff was awesome. I would go back

    Hotel Rex is a small hotel with a very relaxed and slightly quirky vibe. Perfectly located to explore Lucca it sits just outside the city walls right near the train station. The staff were really friendly and were able to help us with questions in English. If what you want from a hotel is regimented perfection then book a Hilton. But if you can go with the flow Hotel Rex will suit you. For parkrunners like ourselves it was only a 10 minute walk to the start line and, with a 1200 checkout, meant we could run, breakfast and shower without time pressure.

    A family run hotel in Lucca that we recommend. We stayed a week and throughly relaxed during our stay. The staff are helpful & friendly. The hotel is close to the train station and also the midpoint to the entrances to the wall around Lucca. The room contains a fridge & has tea & coffee supplied along with cups & saucers. Our best tip would be to book early as they host many bicycle groups that also store there bikes inside the hotel in part of the foyer area. Breakfast time can be very busy with these groups. The delightful owner gave us some gifts on departing Hotel Rex. Thank you

    Quirky hotel

    We stayed here for one night at the start of a walking holiday. The hotel is just near the station and a five minute walk from the old town. This hotel is quirky, lots of crochet doilies and things for children to play with ie soft toys, colouring books. We loved its quirkiness, it was clean and the staff were lovely, kind and helpful. I would stay here again, but its quirkiness might not be to everyone’s taste.

    Refused to let my wife in room after we both checked in. I had key with me and she went back for her meds. The evening clerk refused to give her another key so she had to wait in lobby with no meds for 1.5 hours until I could get back there.
