    Beautiful hotel. Uncomfortably hot room.

    I just want to bring attention to my stay since no one from Hotel Mentana seems to care enough to respond to me.I had arrived on September 5th, having reserved the panoramic suite for my girlfriend and I, and another room for my mother. I had chosen the suite because that weekend I would be proposing to my girlfriend at Lake Como, and I wanted a special room, with an awesome view for when we returned. I booked the two rooms, having read good reviews of the service and quality of stay at Hotel Mentana. When we arrived on the 5th, the staff was kind, courteous, and accommodating. The woman at the front desk was pleasant, and helpful, suggesting some places where I might go to pick up some wine. However, as we stayed in the room that night, my girlfriend and I got more and more uncomfortable with the temperature of the room. It was a steady 26 degrees Celsius. So I went down to the front desk, politely asked for some assistance, and she was able to see that the room was hot and tried to adjust the temperature remotely. We left for the evening, explored Milan, and had a wonderful time out, only to return to a room that was still 26 degrees. I returned to the desk to complain about the temperature and the woman at the desk informed me that there was nothing that could be done since the maintenance person was gone for the day. Since the outside air was very cool, we decided to open up the windows and air the room out so that there was fresh cool air in the room, since the air conditioner was clearly not working. This was a mistake because it let several mosquitoes in the room, and my girlfriend and I we awakened by them biting us throughout the night. In the morning, having had a relatively sleepless night due to hot temperatures and mosquito bites, I returned to the desk to ask her to send maintenance up while we were gone, to fix the air conditioners. She agreed that she would send them while we were out. Upon returning from Lake Como at around 2100,l on September 6th we arrived to a room that was not any different than it had been the previous day: Hot and uncomfortable. Which meant that my girlfriend and I would have to try to sleep through those conditions once again. Needless to say, we had great difficulty sleeping in that room, and only got about 3-4 hours of sleep on account of the uncomfortable conditions. The following morning, I checked out, and mentioned that the temperature never improved. The woman at the desk was sympathetic to my concern, saying that the maintenance man had suggested that the air conditioning units in the suite were too small for the space, and she apologized for the inconvenience. So, while the hotel was beautiful, and the staff was polite and helpful, my experience at Hotel Mentana was a disaster. We had spent last 10 days, travelling from Rome, to Florence, to Venice, and lastly Milan, and in each of the hotels we stayed in, our experience of Italian hospitality was amazing. It wasn't until we arrived in Milan and stayed at Hotel Mentana, that we had a bad experience. I am very frustrated that nothing could be done about the temperature of the room. Maybe I'm being unreasonable; I don't think I am, but this experience makes me angry because I spent a lot of money to on that room to make sure the experience was unforgettable for my girlfriend and I, and instead, I paid for 2 sleepless, sweaty nights in a room full of mosquitoes. If this is the experience and standard of comfort I can expect from R hotel properties, I will not be visiting another R property in the future.

    Excellent hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. Nice comfortable room - bed good, tv nice, internet powerful. In a quiet location yet only 10 minutes walk to the Duomo Plaza. Shower area superb. Air conditioning in the room worked well as evening was still very warm outside. Tasty scrambled egg for breakfast and good choice of items including fruit juices, yoghourts and cereals. Room well cleaned every day and overall all hotel areas very clean. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended for central Milano.     Special Milan Hotel

    Traveled with a group of 10. While the rooms were smaller, the accommodations, breakfast, service, location were exactly what we required for our short overnight stay in Milan. Excellent value even during busy Milan Fashion Week. The hotel went out of the way to make sure the early risers had breakfast before departing on the weekend. Our only regret is that we did not have more time to stay at this hotel and in the city of Milan. Every staff member was helpful making our short visit even more special.     Clean and helpful staff. We were initially given room 406 very noisy. I think they share a common wall with another property. They were playing drums late into the night. We were booked to stay for 5 nights so thankfully we were move to another area of the hotel. Take your own hairdryer - switches off automatically after 2 minutes. Laura in reception was very helpful. Not very sound proof.     This is a hotel that has the worst customer service. They have very dangerous employees who are very aggressive and rude. I booked a room with two separate beds, and when I arrive at the hotel they told me that they don’t have separate beds so naturally I wanted to cancel my reservation. They rejected my request and didn’t refund the money. This is not the worst thing, there was a girl in the reception, she said she’s alone there and she can’t separate the beds by herself and when I insist on the cancellation she started hitting the computer with the mouse and the table. She literally hit it and broke it. It wasn’t working when I left there:) Completely lost her control, I thought she was going to hurt herself or someone else there. I immediately left the hotel in order not to get in trouble because if you are a tourist this would be a big problem for you. I still didn’t have my money back. So I do not recommend them and I don’t suggest you to choose them unless if you have a bodyguard with you.
