    Close to Duomo

    rating09 May 2026

Not the cleanest hotel I’ve stayed in, appears that it is quite worn.

Disappointed with overall offering but super location

    rating03 Mar 2026

Excellent location and I would stay again at the right price. However, hotel is tired and dated and a lot of basics don’t work well (opening windows, lift only accommodates two at a time, left luggage is open to access so did not feel secure). Breakfast, whilst free, was not extensive and not particularly well made (bread and pastries were dry, eggs unappetising). If you are okay with the limitations then definitely worth staying for location - super close to Duomo and metro and a great base.

Very Disappointing Stay – Bed Bug Bites and No Accountability

    rating19 May 2025

I stayed at the Rio Hotel, Room 61, from April 30 to May 3, and my experience was extremely upsetting. During my stay, I suffered 13 bed bug bites across various parts of my body. Despite showing the staff the bites and even photos, they insisted they were mosquito bites. They changed the sheets and plugged in an electric mosquito repellent — but I continued to wake up with new bites every day.The most distressing part wasn’t just the bites, but the complete lack of empathy or professionalism from the staff and management. No one offered to change my room until the night before I was due to leave, and only after I said I was checking out early due to the bed bugs. Even then, there was no apology, no concern for my well-being, and no offer to help.I had to visit a local pharmacist, who confirmed the bites were from bed bugs, and sold me cream to treat the itching — adding another €20 expense. The marks lasted well beyond the trip, and the discomfort ruined my vacation.Even upon checkout, the front desk agent was completely indifferent — she charged me in full without a word of apology or even a basic "hope you feel better." I was shocked by the cold and uncaring attitude throughout the entire ordeal.I’ve since had to sanitize all of my clothing and luggage to avoid a possible infestation at home, adding further cost and hassle. This was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve ever had, and I strongly advise others to think twice before booking here. When things go wrong, this hotel does nothing to make it right.

    Amazing stay

    rating06 Sept 2024

The staff were amazing and really friendly, they were so helpful. The room was a little smaller than expected but was clean and tidy. Being literally in the heart of Milan it was accessible to everything you you needed. I would revisit this hotel again with ease.

    Fantastic location

    rating12 Aug 2024

The best feature of this hotel is the location, absolutely perfect for getting around the centre of the city. It is within easy walking distance of La Scala, the Duomo and various museums. Then of course there are many shops, bars and places to eat nearby. The room was a small single, but very well organised with a good-sized bathroom. It was quiet. The bed was comfortable. Some of the furniture was little bit on the large size for the room, but it was useful having a table to put things on. Breakfast was as you would expect with the usual pastries, cereals etc. I would definitely stay here again as the location was ideal for my opera trips!
