  Short stay in Milan

  Spent a night here in late May as part of a four-day trip to Italy. We had flown into Malpensa Airport and had taken the train, planning to then walk from Milano Centrale to the hotel. The train was unfortunately running late and finished earlier at Porto Garibaldi station- this was a 20 minute walk to the hotel, and as it was a pleasant evening we decided to walk the final distance.Once we arrived we were checked in quickly and given the card key to our room. We were located on the third floor with a view out on to an internal courtyard in the hotel. We were told at reception that we were being an upgraded room, and it certainly felt like it had recently been refurbished. It was a small room, but had a good size bed and sufficient storage space. There was a fridge provided but no tea or coffee making facilities, and a safe which we did not make use of. There was also a large wide screen TV with a wide range of local and international channels, including BBC One from the UK which surprised us. The bathroom was also compact but had a good quality shower and ample storage space for toiletries. Wi-Fi was provided, but for some reason it would not recognise the surname and room number combination needed to log in- we went to reception to resolve this, and they straight away gave us a code for 24-hour access. The hotel has a restaurant, but we instead ate out for dinner. There are a lot of restaurants and bars within walking distance, and this is quite a buzzy part of Milan. Upon returning to our room from dinner there was some noise from the internal courtyard as other guests were having drinks, but by midnight this had quietened down and we both slept well.The next morning we chose not to have breakfast in the hotel (available for 14 Euros per person) and instead decided to find somewhere near the Duomo. It was very easy to get there on the historic Tram Line 1, which has a stop very close to the hotel on Viale Tunisia. We returned a few hours later and checked out for the next part of our trip.We found the hotel a very convenient place for a night's stay in Milan, and though the room was on the small size it was fine for the short time we stayed there.   The hotel was clean, staff was friendly and the location is walking distance to the train station and duomo. I wish the room was bigger, it was a bit small.   Fabulous vibes

  Fabulous hotel with great vibes and atmosphere. Great location about a ten minute walk from centrale station. Lots of great places to eat within a 1 minute walk and 5 minute walks to beautiful gardens. Rooms were small but clean, modern and well appointed. Front of house female staff were exceptional and epitomised the Accor brand. The night staff not so much. I asked a very basic local tourist question to which they replied “I have no idea”.   Initially we were given a room on the noisiest side of the hotel, and were unable to sleep on the first night. This was even though I had asked on my initial booking, and online checking in for a quiet room However, they completely redeemed themselves with the way the complaint was dealt with, moving us to a quiet room without any quibble. The staff at this hotel are all lovely and a credit to the hotel. the food we had in the restaurant was the nicest food on the whole trip and again the staff in the restaurant are great The rooms are basic but very clean which for me is the most important thing in a basic hotel This hotel cost was reasonable for a stay in Milan in a central location GM IBIS MICE, General Manager at ibis Milano Centro, responded to this review Dear Nevin,Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at ibis Milano Centro.   Disappointing experience with lost property

  I stayed at ibis Milano Centro on last Friday night and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience regarding a forgotten personal item.After checking out in the morning, I realized within approximately five minutes that I had left my sunglasses in the room (room 337), clearly visible on the central table at the foot of the bed, under the TV. Given that I was staying in a world renowned hotel chain in one of Italy's major cities, I was confident the item would still be there when I returned later that same day to pick up my luggage, so I didn't bother returning straight away.That was my mistake.I came back to the hotel at around 16:00 and informed the reception. I was asked to wait for nearly 30 minutes while they checked with housekeeping and the lost & found. I was then told that nothing had been found and was asked to follow up via email.I did so, and received a reply on Monday stating that internal checks had been conducted with housekeeping staff and supervisors, but that no sunglasses had been found or reported.What is most concerning is not the monetary value of the item, but the fact that it disappeared within a very short time window after checkout, despite being left in a clearly visible place. I returned the same day expecting a straightforward recovery process, which did not happen.I understand that mistakes can occur, but in this case the outcome raises questions about the handling of guests’ belongings after checkout. I would have expected a more reassuring resolution or accountability.I hope the hotel reviews its internal procedures regarding lost property to prevent similar situations for future guests.
