    Perfect location on the square and close to many sights. Clean, quiet, excellent service, and nice breakfast spread. Good value for the money.

    Great Location, Not the Center

    It is well run, well warmed in the winter, and reasonably quiet all day and night. The WiFi was fine; I didn’t try the TV. You have to wait the usual time for hot water and be braced when you switch from handheld to overhead spray. The bed was lumpy. It has a brilliant location, flanking the great basilica del Santo, and sitting at a cafe at different times, with cappuccino, great Italian wines, spritz, or Negroni, to watch the sun play on the Byzantine cupolas and Renaissance angles of this masterpiece of architecture will be the high point of your visit. Unfortunately, Donatello’s great equestrian statue of the fierce warrior nicknamed “Honey Cat” was in restauro and not to be seen. Inside, there is another problem as the beautiful narrative reliefs of Donatello are actually on the high altar, and a tourist can’t go up there. You can, using subtlety of approach, ask a guard to let you in a side door to the sanctuary to look at those at the backside where you are completely inconspicuous —but without years of seminary crowned by priestly ordination you may never see Donatello’s reliefs on the front of the altar up close.I should add that the rich Basilica del Santo and the far huger cathedral of Padua nearby at the splendid Prato della Valle are not in the actual center of town. The Renaissance town council is, Palazzo della Ragione, and there you’ll find the department stores, also high-end fashion boutiques, the 200-year old grand cafe Pedrocchi, the classiest restaurants in town, as well as history and science museums, an art museum currently showing Picasso and Modigliani, and the large Scrovegni Chapel with a hundred astonishing frescos of Giotto on the life of Christ and of His Mother. This is all a good quarter-hour walk from Casa del Pellegrino. It might make sense to stay longer and have two hotels. At all events, there are plenty of buses and taxis.

    I led a university group of 40+. We loved our stay here. The rooms were bright, clean, and very comfortable. The location is wonderful, in the shadow of the Basilica of St. Anthony. Lots of excellent food options nearby. The staff were excellent. Kind and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel.     We stayed for one night and found the room to be simple but clean and fresh. It looked fairly recently renovated. A big plus was that there was no wall-to-wall carpeting.The air conditioning worked well and kept the room at a comfortable temperature. Breakfast started at 07:00 and was perfectly fine.Overall, a good and pleasant experience.     Our 4th stay in the hotel over 8 years. This would be the best. We were blest with the upgraded room which was excellent. The bathroom in particular was really a welcomed upgrade. The service continues to be very nice and welcoming. Breakfast was pretty good. I will not say the same for the dinner we had that night at the hotel. It was really average. Overall, it is a really a lovely place. Being right at the doorstep of the Basilica of San Antonio makes this a perfect place to stay.
