    Nice pools but generally tired

    rating18 May 2018

Stayed here over Easter for a week. Not the best four star stay in Montegrotto Terme - but OK.Breakfast is OK, with the coffee machines making a decent espresso.Room was average, bed quite hard and thin walls meant quite a bit of noise came through from neighbours. Location was a bit isolated, and disappointingly there are no bicycles available to use. Its a fairly long walk into Montegrotto Terme or to the railway station.Facilities were pretty good, but the gym was very tired.Dining was OK, but got caught out with a very expensive Easter dinner one night, which was not value for money. We stayed at another 4 star hotel nearby for a week, and it was cheaper and much much better in all aspects. In short, check TripAdvisor thoroughly when staying in the area - you can do much better for the same expenditure.

Great place to stay while visiting the surrounding area

    rating01 Oct 2017

We stayed at this lovely hotel and found the the facilities great to relax with after busy days out sightseeing in Padua, Venice and Lake Garda. The train station is a five minute drive or fifteen minute walk from the hotel and train fares are cheap and flexible (43 mins to Venice and costs 10 euro). We stayed in a room overlooking the hills and enjoyed the beautiful sun sets from our balcony with a glass of wine. The rooms are clean, well equipped and have lots of storage space if you are planning a longer stay. Swimming towels and robes are provided for the pools, I would recommend bringing a pair of flip flops to wear to the pools. Also, I would bring my own hair dryer if we stayed again, as hairdryer in bathroom is one of the vacuum types...We loved using the pools, especially before breakfast. There are two large pools, one thermal spring water, which is partly indoors and partly outdoors. There is also a large fresh water pool which is cooler and perfect for swimming laps. There are plenty of loungers and seating around the pools which are situated in gardens and a bar for drinks and snacks. Breakfast is buffet style, with lots of choice and when something is finished, quickly refilled. We ate dinner one night at the hotel and again were impressed with the service and food. The only downfall I could see was the restricted timing dinner was service. 7.30-8.30 pm.We will definitely be returning to this wonderful place.

Nice, serene pools but hotel outdated

    rating27 Aug 2017

My wife and I enjoyed a quiet weekend getaway. Loved the two pools, one cool and one warm. Our "Classic Room" on the 4th floor was nice but absolutely void of any frills; frugal doesn't even capture it. The balcony provided decent privacy with a good view of the hills but overlooked the car park where the staff took smoke breaks and yapped. - It seemed like the hotel was thriving at one point, maybe in the 1970's. Not sure why it was never updated, but there is just that sense of it slipping away into oblivion. All of the rooms on the website looked better than ours.- I slept well and the shower had great water pressure with good temperature control.- We loved the garden and the pools. Beautiful weather made for a relaxing day. The only downside was that we kept stepping on myriad lose pool tiles everywhere.- The pool bar staff was friendly and the food was good.- The whirlpool ("whirpool") was okay with a gorgeous picture window of the gardens that badly needed cleaning. Windex does wonders, people!- Some of the "wellness" amenities seemed out of commission, and as there was no attendant manning the desk, it was hard to figure out what was available.- Breakfast was good, opening promptly at 0730. Lots more carbs and less proteins than expected for a wellness place, but it's Italy.- The day of checkout, they tried to charge us €10/each to stay and use the pools and €13/each to use the same bathrobes we already had. We thought that was a bit needy, so we had the charges removed and left promptly at 1100 (checkout time).Overall, we enjoyed our relaxing stay but would advise anyone traveling here for longer than a weekend to look at some of the other options.

    Quite and confortable, real relax

    rating21 Sept 2016

Isolated in a park surrounding the external pools, it's a very confortable hotel, with big clean rooms (and we had the standard one). The structure is not new, but very well kept. Comfortable beds, lots of places for dresses and luggages, big bathroom with all you can need, including bathrobes and towels for the pool. From the internal warm pool you can swim outside and enjoy the warm bubbles areas. In a few meters walk you can reach the even bigger "cold" pool, perfect for swimming (and it has strong bubbles massages on the far end side too). The surrounding park is very pleasent. Breakfast is a rich buffet, including ham/sausages/eggs as well as cakes, excellent fruit salad and yogurt. There are automatic machines for fruit juices and coffee. Dinner is composed of buffet for entree and fruit, while first and second dishes are served at the table from a rolling tray, with 2-3 choices for each dish. Good quality and friendly service. You do need a car: there is nothing around, you have to walk quite a while (1-2 km) along boring/unintersting roads to reach the village (that is fairly small and quite, too). Much better to go for a walk in the nearby Colli Euganei hills.

Nice pools in quiet small town

    rating08 Sept 2016

Hotel pools very good, relaxing quiet part of town 20min walk to railway station hotel breakfast was very plain fare croissants, rolls cold meats the cooked sausages and scrambled egg very poor, the staff are good the two male bar staff very good. The rooms are clean the hotel rooms dated also other areas. German clientele 95% in hotel the town has very few restaurants in the centre. Mary's pizza restaurant is excellent she is very good with customers. The local hotels have entertainment ,the imperial on Friday saturday.Venice is 45 mins away by train very expensive to eat in most areas, when me and my wife sat down at a restaurant at the rialto I noticed that the wine was 30 euros for the cheapest my wife and I got up to leave and the waiter had the cheek to demand 2 euros as my missus had the use of the wc!!The water transport a rip off. Padua has the wonderful St Anthony's cathedral don't miss it it's free. Word of caution outside the train station undesirables who are immigrants and very dodgy take a bus into centre and don't walk back at night risky. Ferreira beautiful town same problem outside station here town with shady types local police no where to be seen. Always be aware in Italy at stations muggers are drawn to them.
