  Great Location but very run down and pictures not representative of now.

  Tui UK booked this hotel for us to stay in during our Puglia - Hidden Treasures of South Italy tour. I have looked at the pictures on this page and quite frankly did not recognise the hotel and the lovely, cooked breakfast is certainly not what we experienced.The room was very tired and need of decorating, there was a large stain on the ceiling, chips, and dents in the plaster on the wall. Neither the air conditioning, fridge or the safe was working, we discovered the safe had no batteries. When I went to the bathroom the door handle fell off on the outside. The lights didn't work, and the room looked far from inviting. We were given another room on the 2nd floor, which was a little better, definitely had been decorated but still the air conditioning didn't work. This is not a 4-star hotel as advertised in TUI information, and it would be hard pushed to be two stars.The location however was very good and very close to the main town, and we were able to walk and enjoy Alberobello from this site. I do not recognise the breakfast pictures; however, we did not receive or see any sign of a cooked breakfast at all. We had tinned fruit croissants and jam nothing savoury.The bar was rarely open and a few of the staff were friendly but some of unfriendly and a surly.I am shocked that TUI represent this hotel and disappointed that they have not seen the deterioration which the current pictures fail to show. Some guests received water in their rooms, but we did not and there was not a sign of Coffee and tea facilities in the rooms which we thought a 4 star would provide.If you’re looking for cheap and cheerful this hotel is a great little location coming up at £87 ppn, but we paid TUI £1500 each for our trip and were promised 4-star accommodation.

  Beware of bed bugs!

  The hotel is was a bad experience!Breakfast was poorly and the hotel included the rooms smelled old and moldy.The white sheets are ok but the decoration sheets are full of black dots and peels of God know what it could be..Not even a terrace to sit.. its closed. alltough they annouce it on their website. We have been tortured by bedbugs!Every night i waked up from the bites and the itches. Mij whole side of the body was full of bites, there were it touches the matras. (Yes I have pictures of It) We had to desinfect our whole suitcase and laundry. Beware of the extra travelers you potentially take home with you!!The only positive about the hotel is the location and the staff is friendly.

  This hotel is centrally located in a beautiful city, next to the train station and within walking distance of all those trulli, a magnificent cathedral and the main touristy part of town where there are many restaurants, cafes and bars. Despite this being an UNESCO World Heritage Site and at the height of the tourist season, it was not especially busy.The Astoria hotel service was exceptional throughout my stay. There were issues with the internet initially but those were quickly fixed by Franchesco, the irrepressible front desk attendant who also poured me a great glass of red at their bar. His help didn't stop there - he helped me with printing my boarding pass and showing me the locations of everything I needed to see. Thank you.The breakfast the next day was outstanding with fruits, cereal, pies, meats, cheeses, yoghurts and various other goodies. This place was really good value.

  Rooms were clean and good security. However, it shouldn't be 4 stars because there were no coffee & tea facilities, no slippers, no robes in the room and you get the basic amenities (bed sheets, soap, towels and free water bottles) though wifi was not too bad. They were happy to give us hot water from their dining area and used our own tea bags. This reminded me of our stay up in Cinque Terre's Hotel Margherita (Monterosso) which was rated as 3-1/2 stars only. I must admit that they were short staffed but friendly and helpful except for one staff during breakfast in their dining area. I didn't get his name but he used the same light cream yellow short sleeves shirt and with eyeglasses on for the 2 mornings we were there. We noticed that he introduced himself to every table and offer their machine made coffees but when it came to us he just told us about the tea & percolated coffee on the table beside the fruit juices. We felt that we were discriminated of cafe style coffees. Also, he was not friendly at all and not smiling at people like us with different country origin. Well, he should not be on the hospitality industry if he has a problem with people of different races.So glad another staff member named Giuseppe came the next breakfast day and introduced himself to us offering us latte machiatto coffee to try. It was a lovely hot drink for breakfast. It does really make a difference if staff are friendly and smiling at you.

  I can only recommend the hotel.The building and furniture is old but still very well conserved. You can feel it has been built with great care.All areas are extremely clean.Courtesy and professionalism of the entire staff.Very good breakfast.
