Location

The resort is located in Otranto in the region of Puglia in the heart of the Valle d'Itria, 800 metres from the beach and from the old town with its many restaurants and bars. The bus station in Otranto and the beach in Alimini are both around a 10-minute drive from the hotel, the shops in Maglie are 20 minutes by car, and Lecce with its train station is approximately 35 minutes' drive.

Facility

Guests have a choice of 133 rooms, including 8 junior suites, 9 suites and 110 double rooms, located in two 3-storey buildings with lifts. Multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the reception are happy to assist guests at the reception desk round the clock. Check-in and check-out are available 24 hours a day. Amenities include a cloakroom, a baggage storage service and a safe. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities. The grounds of the hotel feature a playground and a lovely garden.     Mixed bag in Otranto....

    Mixed review here....quite a good room on same level as reception....we were lucky, lots of steps to the restaurant and pool not good for young families and older guests in my opinion. The room was quite good for four adults with two bathrooms but aircon died on our last night and we melted!! Received a nominal 25 euro discount....not good enough.They provide only two coffee cups in room for 4 adults, no glasses, no bottle opener, knives or anything that is useful when you bring a few things back to room.Located a relatively easy 10 mins stroll into town, not great for those who dont like a walk or if it is hot...

    Good hotel avoid ROOM 301

    Lovely hotel, friendly wait staff and cleaners. Large complex just a short walk away from the lovely Otranto. Good breakfast and rooms are cleaned every day. Overall a great place to stay. The only problem we had in room 301 was the door to the reception and restaurant was next to our room. Day and night loud taking people walking by and because if this we spent little time on the terrace. This room is also above the spa and the chlorine smell is sometimes overwhelming.

    We wanted to spend some time in Otranto before heading to a family wedding in nearby Sanarica. We booked in for 4 nights.Before we arrived Federica was already busy sorting out various transfers for our party of 9 and other family staying at the hotel. She also sorted things for us to return on our last day in Italy, use the hotel's facilities for the day and then transfer to airport. A big weight of our minds when facing a 9pm flight with 3 small children. Great communications, excellent service.The hotel was clean and tidy at all times, the food in the restaurant very good indeed, and staff always polite and helpful. Otranto itself was delightful and very relaxing. Overall, we had a great stay thanks to Federica and her colleagues and would happily return to both Otranto and the hotel.

    The Basiliani could, and should, be so much better

    A hotel on the outskirts of Otranto that could be so much nicer than it is. The hotel and rooms require updating as they are looking tired and dated. The room has little in the way of drawer storage, with a real lack of drawers to store clothing. It does have a wardrobe but not all clothes can be hung on a shirt hanger. The hotel is spread over a large area, having five “wings” and is built on very sloping terraced ground with many, many, step’s and whilst it has some small lifts it is an impracticable place for older or infirm guests. The hotel itself has a dining room which serves breakfast and dinner. The breakfast had no variation and was very limited. The restaurant offers a set evening dinner, but not a la carte options, so a walk into Otranto to find such restaurants is the norm. There is one small hut on the side of the pool that serves drinks in plastic cups and some snacks. This is where the hotel really lets itself down and could be so much better. The hotel has a bar in the reception area and a wonderful bar area in the landscaped front of the hotel which would be such a nice and relaxing place to take a drink but neither are open or used. Strangely, the staff advised that “these are not open because it’s summer”. If you want to take a drink in the evening it’s a case of purchasing one at the pool shack in a plastic cup and finding a sun lounger to sit on (in your evening clothes). The hotel could and needs to do so much better. It’s a real shame as the hotel seems to be “locked” in a time bubble.

    Hotel was spotless. Breakfast was great and plenty of it. Drinks at the pool were reasonable price. We spent 10 nights there and would certainly recommend it . The grounds were lovely and again were very well maintained. Staff were extremely helpful .
